Stop with the feature length films. Stick with serials that are released each week. Don’t drop all episodes all at once. Buy the rights to a book series and develop a serial out of it. Take an event in history and develop a serial around it. Create your own production company and directly hire directors. Serial!
They supposedly did that with the Foundation Series. Who the heck knows where that is though.

I was just thinking of that one. Yes — this looks like the kind of series that could get a person to take a serious look at the service. More of this! The only series I like so far are the two documentary series — Tiny World and Earth at Night.

Apple definitely has niche programming. After my free trial is over in July, it's a goner. The best movie they had was the Tom Hanks not WWII movie that was pretty good for covid standards. Netflix has had much better programming, but I'm probably just a square.

What political content are you referring to? I haven’t seen any.
it’s there if you look for it. I prefer to just enjoy the story though. Most of the content is very public television.
Look at Foundation. The kid is a black girl. this selection is not consistent with the books. Now, it could be the lass is a fantastic actor, and direct translation from book to TV usually doesn’t work, but it is obviously a deliberate decision made for current politics. I don’t expect it to harm the story though, as long as the main themes are consistent.

1. What “kid” is a black girl? What is the character’s name?
2. Did Asimov specify the skin color of his character(s) in the books?

I had completely forgotten that I even had access to Apple TV + until I got that email saying my free subscription was extended.

One day I'll actually one the app. One day.....

Just stick to making phones.

If I want to watch a TV or Film, I’ll decide myself thanks. Selecting movies has nothing to do with making phones. Mission creep aka greed deluxe.
You can still decide for yourself. Apple isn't forcing anything on you. Don't know why you framed your post as if you didn't have a choice.

Apple is merely trying to expand its services catalogue and user base. That can be done will still making phones.

They could create a huge draw by just buying the new James Bond. Ultimately, I think they will have to purchase Netflix and maybe HBO to bolster up the content library.

Netflix is too expensive. HBO maybe, but At&T needs it to save themselves. They were trying to buy Bond, but the price were too high. Like others have said, they just need to release more content, the quality of their content is high enough, there’s just not enough of it.

This is a good step in the right direction. Apple TV+ is amazing. But the library is weak. Apple TV+ should release 24 NEW shows per year. Apple TV+ should release 24 movies per year with 10 being big box office films. Apple should continue to snag up these cheaper and indie movies to help build its library. If this can happen they'll eventually gain interest.
Agreed, they need to speed up the production (covid has crippled Hollywood). Apple want wide “safe” high quality programming, similar to HBO. Not so so content like you see a lot of on Netflix. They just need to take it more serious, and when they do people will sign up in doves. Apple is not a media company and you need to think like one, if you wanna hang with Netflix.

Gee, tough crowd here. The synopsis looks interesting and the early reviews look promising so far. I’m looking forward to giving this a chance.
I’m sure the moral message will be similar to after school shows from the 80’s and 90’s. And I am sure there will be lecturing.

But hey, there is a universe of offerings if you don’t like what Apple TV + has.

What kid? There’s no kid in the books, so if there’s a kid in the show it isn’t like they changed his gender or skin color.

I still wish Apple had stumped up the likely $500 million for No Time To Die on Apple TV Plus. I haven’t really watched anything apart from The Morning Show which will hopefully improve significantly now Julianna Margulies has joined the show. I need to give Defending Jacob a shot too. It is difficult to enjoy watching anything at the moment having so much concern about the virus.

I'm assuming he's referring to Salvor.... A quick google shows they did do a gender change of the character. I don't know anything else about foundation (other than I want to watch it), but I don't know why it sound matter if they did change skin color. So what? If race isn't an important part of a story, which tends not to be the case unless you are making something earth bound with historical context.... then why does it matter? If it matters to him, says much more about him than it does the creative decisions the show is making in casting.

This is unfortunately a sign of what happens when cash rich companies become big and bloated, and want a presence in a space. Reminds me of Yahoo throwing obscene money at worthless junk. No lean and mean company would pay $25m for the rights to this. I suspect they paid at least $20m too much. Disappointing.

Then you watch all the movies once and that boring mandalorian thing and never log into Disney plus again.
I don’t think Disney cares. They already beat their projected subscription numbers for 2024 last year

i personally can’t stand the weekly nonsense on either of them and TV+ release schedule is so strange. They just drop a movie randomly and everyone is supposed to know about it? They need more content for monthly releases
