What's your point? This is all common knowledge but the real question is why do you care what Apple does with their money? Even their shareholders are happy so I fail to see why anyone cares so much about the richest company in world spending money on content to support their hardware?

The world is awash in TV and film content. No shortage of good content and no shortage of junk content.

Consumers do not benefit in anyway from video content being tied to any specific hardware.

There is no value-add for consumers in Apple buying and repackaging content that would be created anyway and adding an Apple tax. They don’t have better taste than anyone. They have money but this sector actually needs defunding. Not more money. So Apple overbidding is just inflationary.

If you can put forth any argument for how Apple has anything to offer in advancing the art of TV or film creating based on their leadership in making hardware , lay it on the table. Go ahead.

You can’t.

It doesn’t exist.

In my opinion Apple does have better taste but of course that's a matter of taste. It's no different than Apple's design taste. It might not be for everyone but it sets the standard for an entire industry and a few billion people are willing to pay a little extra to get a little more than most competing offerings. Apple is buying films and series that have already been produced that fit their criteria. Their criteria (like their design skills) is stricter and more focused than the competition. Apple is also bankrolling their own productions that they control from script to final cut. There is a clear added value Apple offers the same way a Disney family knows what they're getting before they even pay for a movie or TV show.

Meanwhile Netflix releases 100 new shows a week and lots are garbage. Many are dubbed into English so it's obvious Netflix is just throwing out any content, foreign or domestic to keep viewers coming back to check without really thinking about viewer preferences or long term connection to audiences. Do you think that adds anything to film or TV creation besides jobs and content?

Like their music and apps stores, Apple is curating experiences or do you prefer Google's App Store where there are more choices but also more low quality and unsecure apps too?

And Apple content is not locked to any specific hardware. They are built into most TVs now and just like all the other streaming services out there. If you have Apple TV hardware, you get 4K, Dolby Atmos, HDR, etc. without having to choose between 5 different streaming boxes. Are more choices better or just confusing the consumers like you say?

Like HBO and Disney, Apple is carving out a brand of content. People already recognize shows as being an "Apple-like" show and that is powerful and helpful to consumers when Apple puts their stamp of approval onto content. You cannot say that about Netflix, Hulu or Prime Video because their services have some great shows but it's mostly a hodgepodge of content so you really don't know what to expect. Ubiquitous streaming services are the ones you seem to be referring to because they encourage viewers to watch for a minute and then skip if it doesn't immediately catch their attention. That's the reason why all the lackluster content is out there, not Apple.

maybe its not about the money...maybe its about "brainwashing" the society with specific set of ideologies...eh? conspiracy time!
That actually makes a lot of sense. I get the feeling Captain Crook and his other similarly minded mates are sick of the mainstream not appealing to their own sensibilities, and part of Apple TV+ is about creating a stack of alternate content to, at the very least widen the available, but possibly to attempt to actually shift some mindsets.

I'd say there is some degree of success. I mean, for example, I watched most of For All of Mankind, and it certainly has had me thinking about the "what if women were more prominent in history, and thus, what if they were more prominent now". However, it also has me recoiling with "come on, seriously, there is a reason men and women don't compete against each other in most sports, and it isn't due to some quaint historical sexist mindset. The idea that a woman is the best pilot in the country is simply nonsensical delusion", and "there is a reason most positions of power such as CEOs are filled by men, and it's because men are more driven to it, and gain sexual/procreative advantage from it, whereas women aren't, and don't", and "well that would be bloody awful in a lot of ways to be honest", and "I think most of these uber-feminists miss that most women also don't want the ultra-feminist ideals they seek, they just want to be women, and they just want men to be men". I could ramble on forever with these thoughts. So yeah sure, the content has me thinking about such issues, but tbh, I'm the deep logical thinking type anyway, so I already was thinking about these and all kinds of issues in depth. Is there any effect at all on the average guy beyond "what the hell is this rubbish, I'm off to the pub"?
