But but but... I thought the Apple watch was on a 2-3 year release cycle?? I mean who's gonna update their watches every year??!! /s

I can't wait to shut up all the ridiculous people with these ridiculous claims

How about "just be able to dictate a message quickly then I will buy".

Then you'd better go buy now!

What kind of wifi capabilities are we talking about here? Is the goal to use the cloud when not near your phone for everything (streaming music, FaceTime, directions)? Or is it gonna be some kind of low power long range situation like bluetooth 4.2 or Zigbee, cause that aint wifi at all. LPWAN?

All those Apple Watch Editions are about to become obsolete!
They already mentioned that the current design will remain, so I think it may only offer a few minor improvements. Either way, I''m content and happy with my watch

So given that iPhone is more of a utilitarian device than Apple watch, and Apple watch leans more towards fashion than any other Apple product, if appearance of the new Apple watch is significant, that'll certainly hurt for first gen owners that paid a lot...

I expect the same design. Think of this as the S upgrade -- basically fixing 1st Gen problems. They will probably redesign the watch in 2017.

Kills me the potential 4-inch iPhone is continually referred to as "budget". Just because I don't want a giant phone, doesn't mean I'm not willing to pay the same for something that I can actually fit in a pocket. Please let this thing be an upgraded 5S and not an updated 5C. Thank you.
Well, I like the 5c design, so I'd be thrilled with an upgraded 5c, but I don't think that invalidates your point.

I still believe Apple needs to hit the $1K-$10K market in larger part than they have achieved with the launch of the Hermes edition. Plenty of people (myself included) would be readily willing to spend 1,500-3,000 or even more, but never $10K+ on a watch. Give me a titanium case and a sapphire display, kind of a sport plus if you will, and I will pony up to replace my space black ss.

Great! Hopefully, they'll add some more expensive options, my $17,000 watch doesn't look "new" any longer and I have loads of money sitting around, just waiting for the ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜ 2 to arrive! /s

You have a strange persepctive of wealthy people... The wealthiest people are often the cheapest. That's why they're wealthy. They don't buy random crap for the sake of it; they buy things they will use and will keep. Although they may shell out $17K for a watch, they won't go and replace it just to have a few more features. That's not how they (most) operate. Apple will not screw that demographic. I bet they will have chipset upgrades for Editions, possibly the Stainless models as well. I don't see the design changing for years. Jewellery, especially, like the Editions, are statements, and aren't disposable.

Sports are disposable, though. It would make sense that they add things like waterproofing, higher capacities, etc. to sport models as an, "all new unit," but with the same design, since waterproofing would mean sealants, gaskets, etc, plus aluminium is cheap. Nobody wants a heavy stainless or pricey gold piece on while swimming.

Agreed. At least it won't have plastic, we could probably see this as an upgraded 5s than a 5c. But yea I agree :/

Will there be any new products as well as old rehashes at this event?

Other than the car, there's been no signs that Apple is working on any new hardware. Latest rumors have suggested the car is several years away still.

People have been saying Apple would release a full blown TV for over a decade, but given they just revamped the Apple TV, it seems unlikely that they would do that now.

There were rumors Apple was working with different materials. I also wouldn't be surprised if we see another high profile partnership.

A thinner second gen watch one year after the original release....
If anyone wasn't expecting that, then they haven't been paying attention to Apple for the last x years....

Yes, all those who bought the watch, and were hoping for a long refresh cycle are going to be very disappointed/angry.

But this is what they do..

More like skyrocket in value. At that price, they are not consumer electronics but highly sought after collectibles.

I have a friend that bought TWO Apple Watch Editions and put them in a safety deposit box without even breaking the factory seal. He is betting they will be come very valuable to collectors in ten years.

built in GPS and take me money!

You don't think that Apple is aiming to change all that? You simply assume that things need to remain as they've been to this point, rather than change as Apple has done in many categories before.

What is the advantage to Apple to simply upgrade the chipset for people with the Editions rather than get them to buy a new one? If that was something they'd entertain, why don't they offer that service every time a new MacBook Pro is released with an unchanged case? Apple wants to sell you a new one every time, even if that new thing is another $10k watch to replace the one they sold you last year.

WOW!
If true, this is really going to hurt Holiday sales for the current model unless there is a deep discount and since when does Apple do DEEP discounts?

Wow. The time has flown by. Can't wait for the second-generation Apple Watch. A 4-inch phone is a waste of time however.

I would like to see the Sport watch updated to titanium, add more sport features like GPS, higher water resistance, better sports bands, to name a few. The sports watch needs to better compete with watches from Garamin.
