fixed that for you.... ;)

In all seriousness, though, IMO, it's one thing to invest thousands in an heirloom watch, it's completely another to invest thousands in tech that will be outdated in 6-12 months. Unless you have 'stupid money' of course.
...or you just WANT one. You know, working hard to make enough money to be able to afford what you want? And not what others think you should have or only want? The only way someone buying a gold Edition would be "stupid" would be if it interfered with the purchase of necessities - groceries, gas, mortgage/rent, bills, childcare, etc. Other than that, it's whatever. The audience for Editions is not the same for AWS.

I see WAY more people living beyond their means by upgrading their phones annually (or more often), rather than trying to get a payday loan to get a $15k smartwatch.

You are completely right about Apple products being expensive and I am happy to say I own only an iPad which I bought years ago cheap.

Festival of hypocrisy in progress. I like how you had to add the adverb "only". I am pretty sure that about two billion people that live in extreme poverty would disagree with your "only". Same goes for "cheap", your fifty dollars are probably what an entire family makes in a year in several countries.
And as a matter of fact, the ring on my finger increased value while I wore it doing nothing. Technically speaking I could help way more people than I could before. Your iPad decreased value, therefore not only you wasted money but you can help less people.

People that buy an iPhone an iPad mini, iPad Air, MacBook and iMac because they feel they need that many computers to fill every crevice of their life... Greedy.

You have no clue what greed is. Bill Gates has money, all the computer he wants, he has Rolls-Royces, and an airplane. I wouldn't define him as greedy just because he has more. Ok, cool, you want to play the poor man hero, go help them. Don't waste time here, there's a lot of work to do, and certainly there is much more that can be done other than complaining about people who earned their money. (without knowing if they're philantropists, volunteers etc.)

One! Not more! An iPad bought cheap ages ago to perform basic tasks such as checking email and browsing the web, paying bills etc.

Go to the library. It's free. Who do you think you are to be the one that sets the ethical line between waste and honest use?

Excessive indulgence is more than one needs, it's being greedy!

If you ever had a beer, or a coke, or a smoke, or even went to the movie theatre, or bought a book you have no right to tell us that we're overindulgent.

Speak for yourselves regarding how many expensive Apple devices you own and how many luxuries you indulge in, and don't make presumptions about someone you don't even know...

So you judge us by the apparences (online!) and we should just shut up?

One old iPad is not even on the same scale as overpriced jewellery that does nothing but "look good" or a gallery of overpriced computers when all you really need is one!

What 'scale'? Who defines the 'scale'? your iPad will lose value, gold won't (except regular fluctuation). What do you know about what we need? I have a family of four, we communicate, do homework (all of us), work, study, watch tv programs, learn, watch documentaries, talk to distant relatives, etc. Who are you to tell me what I should have and how I should use it?

Yes, I do treat myself sometimes, but my treats are reasonable, modest and not over the top, selfish and greedy!

Attaboy.

That's the problem with today's world, everyone wants all the "luxuries" and that's why humanity is in disgusting amounts of dept and the banks and corporations rule the globe!

No, the problem is not that everyone wants all the luxuries. The problem is that people like you talk on forums, share pictures of poor people, complain about other's propriety and then do nothing other than donating $5 to the Red Cross and telling other people how superior they are.
You want to know? The most concerned people I have met all have money. They work, create wealth and share. A lot. They are active in their community, they make proposals, they go to every single event, they work overtime for the community. People like you just talk.

Rationalize your spend, criticize others. Hypocritical, yeah just a bit. BTW, cheap is relative to one's circumstances. Your cheap iPad could be considered an unreasonable purchase, you know, by one of those people you seem to be championing by chastising everyone else.

Don't make presumptions about someone you don't even know. Or in your case, a lot of someones you don't know. Taking your own advice would be a great thing to do. It's actually good advice.

Reasonable to whom? Modest relative to what? Not over the top, selfish or greedy? I don't know bud. From here your indignation seems a bit over the top. Not to criticize, but you're hogging all the faux righteousness and using more than your fair share of rationalization to make your choices justified. Who's being selfish and greedy now?

Again, take your own advice Matt. Stop judging; both others so harshly and yourself so reasonably.
You rational bastard... GET OFF OF THE INTERNET!!!!

I get aggravated seeing less than 10% of the world rolling in so much money they don't even know what to do with, and 90% just living like slaves to consumerism, then there's the people in outright poverty and it all just seems so wrong... I respect your opinion though and take some of your points under my wing. It's just very unsettling seeing how much some spend on jewellery and cars when that money could buy several homeless people a house... Just a dog eat dog unfair world I guess, and I had better get used to it.

So you are here criticizing others without knowing anything about them. You sit here posting on this website using a consumption device to do so. Taking your own advice you could have donated that money you spent on your iPad to a Charity and instead of spending money on internet service every month you could being donating that to a charity as well. See how that works. Before you go chastising other people on their spending habits maybe you should look closely at what you are doing first, instead of worrying what other people are doing with their money. I send money to a Charity and my family volunteers. It is not mutually exclusive spending money on personal items and helping out charities.

You sit here posting on this website using a consumption device to do so.

It's hard not to fall at least slightly into the consumerism trap given the world we live in. That makes me a victim the same as a lot of you! Do you own jewellery worth hundreds of thousands of dollars? Do you own a car that cost over a million? If not then I clearly am not having a go at you! I've obviously struck a nerve here and I'm not sure my point is being taken as it was meant! I'm not saying we should all disconnect our electric, light some candles and eat canned food with blankets wrapped around us to keep warm, I'm saying maybe there's better things to spend money on than expensive jewellery. And maybe some of us, perhaps, buy more than we need... Jesus, why are you all taking this so personally. For the second time I apologise if I caused any offence. Not because I'm now being flamed left right and center, but because I'm taking responsibility! That doesn't mean I no longer believe in what I said, but I do feel I am being misunderstood.

And what if I do own expensive jewelry or cars. Why is it your place to tell anyone how they should or should not be spending their money. It is ironic how you chose to attack people who own what you feel is expensive and yet you own what is considered excessive my someone who can't afford even as you put it "a modest costing" iPad. And if someone where to get on you because they felt your modest costing iPad was excessive would you go sell it and give the money to a charity. What about those people who can't afford a monthly bill for internet, which you clearly have no issue paying for every month. Someone tells you that is excessive and greedy, are you planning on cancelling your internet and sending that to a charity. It is interesting how you change your story to fit your needs .

If Apple has a new keyboard to release, my guess is that they will release it alongside a new iMac or Mac Pro. They usually don't release that kind of accessory on its own.

For example, the Magic Trackpad was released July 27, 2010, the same day day they updated the iMac line. The same thing happened on October 20, 2009, when Apple released the Apple Magic Mouse along side iMac updates.
I hope they'll integrate a fold-out trackpad into the keyboard so we can use it with our thumbs. So many years of using the trackpad in my MacBook Pro it would be nice to have that option all the time.

I added a big monitor and wireless keyboard and trackpad a month ago after giving up on Apple releasing a new standalone monitor. Maybe they'll release a new monitor as part of the mix? I don't think so.

That's why the Gold Apple Watch is a waste of money because people can spray paint the apple sports watch. No point in spending $10,000+ just because the color is gold. It's made out of real gold but it doesn't have any advantage if other people can easily paint their watches Gold.

That's for posers. Like those idiots who paints their rear drum brakes to make the car look more "tuner."

Looks like I'll be stocking up on the old keyboards. Integrated batteries are not a good idea: they go flat and can't be replaced immediately, require you to be tethered (not always a trivial problem) to charge and eventually they wear out.

Omg, look, I made one comment and now I've got to deal with this crap all night!? I've said sorry for any offence multiple times! I started a debate in a now obvious sensitive subject, a subject that not everyone is going to agree on, that doesn't make me a bad person! Do you want me to go sell everything I own and live in a tent? Would that make you feel better? Or perhaps I'll go and buy six Apple devices, a hundred grand watch, a car that does 10mpg and a bucket of icecream... Would that make you feel better? I've said sorry twice for causing any offence, now let's stop bickering like children and act like the adults we are. The mature thing to do now is to agree to disagree and move on with with our lives... I respect all of your opinions so it would be nice if you respected mine even if you don't agree. Clearly you are all intelligent individuals and resent being told what to do and what not to do, I didn't mean to come off like that and it's my bad. Peace

There seems to be a pattern here, people arguing one evil with another. Speak for yourselves regarding how many expensive Apple devices you own and how many luxuries you indulge in, and don't make presumptions about someone you don't even know... There's only so many resources and nearly eight billion people littering this earth so it's time people learned to be more conservative. You all sit there and say how terrible it is what's happening in the rain forrest and how bad pollution is bla bla, but you won't stop contributing to it will you... We are all the cause.

And anyone getting aggravated at what I'm saying is clearly one of the aforementioned types getting their back up to justify their over consumption.

Someone just got back from Burning Man and hasn't been able to get the sand out of his ass yet. ;)

I'm sorry this opinion upsets you all so much, but I just feel sorry for those less fortunate! I may portray someone who cares not for others, but on the contrary, I care about others a lot... Guess that gets you flamed around these parts as riding a high horse... Oh well, I've learned my lesson. At least I had the courage to speak my mind... Can't knock a fellow for having an opinion.
Personally, I don't think anyone is knocking you for having an opinion. We are knocking that opinion. There is a distinct difference. Read over your quotes and see if you don't agree with this: Sometimes it's not what you say, it's how you say it. It's okay to be caring. It's not really okay to judge other because you think they don't care as much as, or like you do. When you do judge, be prepared for that judgement to be reciprocated.

Think about what you are posting, especially on the internet. Maybe that is the lesson for you on this.

Yes!

Not really, I own one modest device!

Just to be clear: the people despoiling our plant are the SAME people (in terms of social class and wealth) who have been despoiling the planet since the rise of Renaissance Europe and earlier. Warlords, Kings, Queens, nobility, wealthy merchants (which have morphed into our global corporations), and lest we forget, the Church (whom I would call one of the earliest and most successful global corporate enterprises EVER; going strong since the fall of classical Rome!). These groups have always in recent history controlled the globe and global resources. They have controlled what people knew, whether the ruled were even allowed literacy, and how one might speak about one's 'betters,' not to mention how harshly disobedience would be punished - merely maiming, or death?. Just because the family names have changed, and legacies have both risen and fallen - or crossed the Atlantic to the Americas to continue the uncontrolled despoilment of our planet's resources (after all, much of Europe was picked clean of the resources offered by the two new continents).

Yes, we as citizens and consumers play a role. But, the developed and developing world economies are entirely dependent upon our planetary resources - this is what allows us to eat, have clean water, support families, earn a living, and more -- for those of us who are fortunate enough to be able to participate as meaningful participants in more enlightened societies. The greed starts at the top and the most massive amount of consumption is perpetrated in the name of the hoarding of wealth by the 1% who actually rule this planet - whether you believe you are 'free' or not.

TL:DDR - There may be a lot of "us," we the consumer, but we are not the true source of the problem.

It's time to integrate the TouchID to any of those accessories either the mouse, keyboard or trackpad.

People buy gold things to show how cool and rich they are. Not because of looks.
