Apple never reduces the price of particular models, no matter how long they are sale.
They did for the OG HomePod, and they do for the previous-years iPhones they keep in the lineup (such as the iPhone 13 and 14 currently).

I would not be using a $4k computer on a plane. Zoning out into VR world on an airplane surrounded by strangers is a recipe for problems.

You're on an airplane. Nowhere for anybody "nefarious" to go. Do you fear strangers when you walk down the street, too? We do live in a crazy world, but we need to fight evil with love and compassion, not run from it in fear.

If it gets delayed much beyond February, the M4 might already be out, lol. Freaking M2 chip for $3499, lmao.

Anyone planning to get one just to stash it, fully sealed, and let the value rack up for resale years down the road?
I thought about it, but it kinda sounds like you might be able to only get it in an Apple Store for the first gen? Sounds like they make you open it and do the fitting but the headband and also for the prescription, probably so people can't resell them as easily. They'll probably streamline it in the future. There was a rumor that they're only planning to make like 250K units the first year, which is very small for Apple's scale, even decades ago. For comparison, the Original iPhone sold 6,124,000 in its first year, and one of them sold this summer unopened for nearly $200K. The rumor stated something about the optics or display or some combination of both for the headset being extremely constrained, and you need two per unit.

If this is the case, I wonder if they will keep and open the box behind the counter? Otherwise once I've paid what is to stop me from sprinting out of the store and running away with my purchased product? Will we not be able to gift it to someone else? Lots of questions surrounding how this would actually work, in practice. If you can get one out unopened, it might be worth a pretty penny someday.

This should not be a problem, a MBP with some options is the same price and everybody is using them on the plane.
Heck i even leave mine open (but locked) on my seat when i go to the toilet.

Why is the M2 chip suddenly not worth any value now that the M3 is out? Simply because an iterative M3 is out? Those of us packing Macs with M1's still get the same value out of the machines we bought as on day one.

The M2 chip in the Vision Pro is only one part of the whole device. Adding an M3 won't make a huge difference, and by your logic, would become obsolate by the time M4 comes out.

Snorkel with Bluetooth or integrated into the wifi? Battery with integrated chrome wheels or do they cost 1000$ extra? Will there be side rearview mirrors and flashing lights for the road? Is it possible to dive below 50 meters with these goggles? Is it possible to make facetime at a depth of 50 meters? Questions upon questions...

My question is will you pass me some of what you’re smoking?

Since the realistic cost of this thing is sure to be over $4k, I'm sure millions of people can't wait to buy this thing and completely disorient themselves for 2 hours in public at a coffee shop or airport or something and then say smug **** to passers-by like "they are part of the Spatial Computing Evolution(tm) and I can't wait to see you there in a few years when Apple makes it more affordable for normies."

I feel at least 5 of the members on this forum will say some eye-rolling cringe stuff like this to other people, desperate, almost more than Apple, for the Vision Pro to actually be relevant to everyday people and not some hobbyist toy.

I think not having a second event to re-introduce it is a big mistake if true. There should at least be some actual video/footage of real high level Apple employees with a completely finished, software complete, identical to store-bought model Vision Pro on them. I know there were a lot of rumblings about internal criticism of the Vision Pro, and it’s easy to just let that go as industry figures trying to stir up the pot.
But no second event and we still have absolutely no video of Tim wearing the thing? Somethings off.
What’s the release cycle for this? a new one every three years?
The latest rumors have the second generation coming out in late 2025, with the more consumer friendly version dropping in late 26/early 27.
So probably 18 to 24 months, just like most iPads and Macs.
