Silly Raindogg. Apple doesn't allow porn on the App Store

(Just another reason we need sideloading lmao)
You don't need to download an app to watch porn, you know? 😂

I know many said this about iPads (and Apple proved us wrong), but I don't see this taking off with the general public. Super expensive and too many hoops to jump through to get this to work properly.

Why is the M2 chip suddenly not worth any value now that the M3 is out? Simply because an iterative M3 is out? Those of us packing Macs with M1's still get the same value out of the machines we bought as on day one.

The M2 chip in the Vision Pro is only one part of the whole device. Adding an M3 won't make a huge difference, and by your logic, would become obsolate by the time M4 comes out.
because a device which ia largely focused on graphics and games and realism should have ray tracing

Remember the rule: never buy a first-generation Apple product. No matter how tempted you may be.

Version 2 is typically a much better device than version 1, fixing most/all of its major flaws.
I've never regretted buying a first generation Apple product.

If that is a rule that you want to remember, fine, but it doesn't work for me. I mean, you and will both be waiting years for the second and third generation, but I'll have the first gen product to amuse me while I wait.

This reminds me a bit about the initial launch of Apple Watch and even Apple Watch Hermes a few months later. Apple had limited supplies so they threw in extra steps such as requiring a visit to a store. But eventually it just became another product to order online for shipment. I expect the same for Apple Vision (eventually they will have a “non-Pro” version).

Since the realistic cost of this thing is sure to be over $4k, I'm sure millions of people can't wait to buy this thing and completely disorient themselves for 2 hours in public at a coffee shop or airport or something and then say smug **** to passers-by like "they are part of the Spatial Computing Evolution(tm) and I can't wait to see you there in a few years when Apple makes it more affordable for normies."

I feel at least 5 of the members on this forum will say some eye-rolling cringe stuff like this to other people, desperate, almost more than Apple, for the Vision Pro to actually be relevant to everyday people and not some hobbyist toy.
I can see you're prepared to throw smugness back into the goggled faces of smug Vision Pro users. You've even created a straw man to practice on, and had it say the smug things you imagine at least five smug Vision Pro users will say in the future.

Expecting a March Apple event. So Vision Pro should definitely be released before that.

I wonder if it will really release with the M2 chip. I bet it will and then shortly after they will release a cheaper version with the M3. This could be why the M3 pro has fewer performance and more efficiency cores than the M2 pro does

Wow! First sensible remark regarding the M3 Pro. I’ve said all along that Apple intends to use the M3 Pro in products the M2 Pro would never “fit” in due to thermal/power constraints. The AVP would be the perfect device for the M3 Pro (and the iMac).

I'm finding the custom lenses are turning me off -- does that mean you can't share it with family and friends for them to check it out? That seems like half the fun of getting one...
If they wear glasses too, then sadly not.

Otherwise, they're magnetic and can be easily removed for when you share them with someone who doesn't need eye correction.

It will be very interesting to see how well it does, how Apple’s technology and marketing savvy translate into consumer appeal in a market where other cheaper products exist.

Personally, I expect it to come down to capabilities versus convenience. Strapping on a Vision Pro is less convenient than grabbing an iPad, but if it yields much improved capabilities for my use cases it may still be compelling.

The thing is, the capabilities are still largely an unknown. We will have to see to how quickly the app market matures and good concepts come to the fore.

Anyone planning to get one just to stash it, fully sealed, and let the value rack up for resale years down the road?
I don't think you'll be able to leave it fully sealed since apple will require you to get it fitted in the store. Even if you say it is a gift for someone else, that person will have to go in to get fitted.

I am hoping it is possible to buy prescription lenses for all of my family members so it can be shared. 🤞

It's difficult to see a world in which this sells more than iPod Socks. I've tried VR, and it's great, it has a level of novelty and wow which few products do. But then you wear it for an hour and you can't wait to take the damn thing off your head. They're heavy, uncomfortable, and sweaty.

And there's arguably only one VR killer app in existence, Half Life Alyx, and that didn't exactly move the needle much on VR sales.

This will be an at best mediocre seller just like every other VR hat. It will have its fans and its advocates, but most people will ignore it and get on with their lives.

I would not be using a $4k computer on a plane. Zoning out into VR world on an airplane surrounded by strangers is a recipe for problems.
What do you mean? Most/many people fall asleep on flights (so about as "zoned out" as you can get) and don't have any problems. So what do you think is going to be the issue with you wearing these on a flight?

You're on an airplane. Nowhere for anybody "nefarious" to go. Do you fear strangers when you walk down the street, too? We do live in a crazy world, but we need to fight evil with love and compassion, not run from it in fear.

I've slept on airplanes w/ a silk eye mask before. Can confirm I was not robbed or molested - at least I don't think I was.

Also I've used my $4k M3 Max on a couple flights (and a couple train rides) now. It's with me safe and sound right now as I type these thoughts.

Mmmm, better yet, buy the first one because there is nothing like it, buy the second one when available, buy the third one...
