Not at all! Sarcasm doesn't really work on the internet sometimes.

I'm just appreciative of how far technology has come, and what hardware engineers and software developers have done to get it this far. Go back to the 50's and tell someone they can make a phone call on their watch and see practically any show/movie ever made on their TV whenever they want and they'd be blown away.
That's very much true.

It's funny how lots of totaly different jobs from 30 years ago all boil down to programming or 'development' these days. Car manufacturing, retail, banking, marketing, movie production, you can do it all if you have an IT background.

I want an updated interface. I use a harmony remote anyway so don't really care about the current one.

I'd think an Apple TV with touchscreen remote would have the potential to be a harmony remote on steroids when combined with Homekit.

Meh. All I'm using my Apple TV for is to mirror iTunes content to the TV. And if I could be bothered to figure out how, I'd do /that/ with my XBox One, too.

Apple TV new revolutionary UI: just skin it all white with no drop shadow.

That is why I use my iDevice! :D

Seriously though, I have a dedicated iPad mini setup using iRule that handles all of my remotes. But I understand completely. The little thing gets lost between the cushions and cat playing with it.....

I've always thought that the iPad or maybe even the iPad mini was the best remote format for Apple TV. If you are going to have the ability to type you need something large enough to use as keyboard for the whole family to use. While it's nice to have your phone work with it or watch maybe, they're just not the best form factor. And the little remote it comes with can easily get misplaced and lost in the room.

Poor developers these days. They've got apps to write for watches, TVs, phones, tablets, desktops, convertibles, fridges, and whatever else you want to stick an LCD on. Pretty incredible.
good way to increase sales… Just adjust your app for new screens, the time it takes and money is proportionally less than making/coding brand new apps for each device.

And then when the Apple TV 4K(pun intended) comes out next year you'll have to wait months and months before developers update their apps to support the new resolution.
My thoughts exactly. Non-4K makes 4th (ha!) generation Apple TV a non-starter for me. 4K TVs are very cheap these days and I wouldn't want a set top box that does not take advantage of 4K.

Fortunately for Apple, none of the major set top boxes support 4K currently (Amazon, Google, Roku). But I suspect that will change real soon.

Ready for the remote! The current one gets lost too much.

Especially with 3 & 1 year olds running around
I'm hoping for full 4K support though I'm not holding my breath for it. Is it possible for Apple to release 4K support as a software update later on or is it something that need to addressed right from the start?

I believe it is possible w/ the A8 chip but don’t hold me to it

It is amazing how any new rumour can spark so much negativity. I would love a new Apple tv, one that actually works and has a better remote control, and some local storage would be a BIG bonus.

We are heavy Apple TV users but ours seems to work fine as is. Usually I use the iPhone remote app. We'll probably wait and get the new one in a year or so when it's settle out.

Pretty please let this be true.

The Apple TV has been not fully realized for years. An App Store would be a great addition.

Like someone said, the reason Google's Android for TVs isn't kicking off, is because Apple isn't there yet. Sounds strange, but probably true. They need the big buzz and pull Apple would get with it.

What's wrong with the Apple TV remote we got?

Well my issue with the current remote and Apple Tv is it is Infra Red!!!!! I mean what is this, 1995?

My apple Tv is hidden away inside a cupboard so I rely on the Remote App via Ipad to control it.

However, because this is an annoying procedure (more annoying than simply using a TV remote) I find myself barely using the Apple Tv.

The new one will be good.. just wait and see :D

I still don't understand "cord cutters" who would sign up for a $30-$40 service. Presumably also with Netflix, Hulu, etc.
More about on demand video of what you want when you want it would be my guess, no commercial or very little of them.

For many its not the paying for cable, but how cable is given to one.

As for me, I don’t care about any of these services. I also have basic cable and never use it even for th shows I watch because I like to see things on my own time. I even run the atv apps instead of using cable for noise while fixing/cleaning the house lol

Heard that one before...and before...
All you have ever heard is rumors and speculation. You sound like Apple was at fault. They weren't. If you feel the way you do and want to bash apple, then don't read non apple issued reports. Sheesh.
