First, that screen is garbage. Colour reproduction may be awesome for graphic designer but thats useless as the specs on the iPad are crap which means it will NEVER run anything remotely close to something like Photoshop for a professional to even consider.
Second, the screen resolution is also crap. I've seen smaller screen geting higher resolution.
Third, the fact that its not e-ink means your eyes are gonna hurt after a few hours of use, assuming it even lasts that long, and we all know apple's history with portable devices and battery life; pathetic.
Fourth, Amazon's Kindle battery lasts for 7 DAYS. The iPad gets a measly 10 hours.
Fifth, Amazon's Kindle costs half the price.
Now, I know comparing it to a kindle is ridiculous but thats basically the main thing people will do with these devices; reading. Surfing web, checking maps, etc. can all be done with your phone nowadays, if you even dare to think of getting the iPad, its not at all a far cry to assume you got an iPhone (for some reason, i think its crap).
Steve Jobs initially compared the iPad to a netbook and said theyre not good at anything. Well, lemme tell you something kids, the iPads price starts at 500 bucks. A netbook with better specs, large storage space, a real tactile keyboard, expansion connections galore and above all else, the choice (something apple isnt comfortable with; choice) to install any operating system and software I want, is a way better and practical deal. I wouldnt have an issue spending 300 dollars on a basic netbook, but for nearly double you get an iPad that in reality doesnt do anything, NOT EVEN FLASH! Especially considering when steve 'big brother' jobs said it was an extraordinary web surfing experience on it, LOL.

1) IPS display is one of the best display technologies you can get for text clarity which is one of the most common functions you'll be using on iPad. It's also the best for viewing angles, which is something you want when it's a device that you'll be holding most of the time. You don't want to be constantly holding the thing at a certain angle, that's stupid. Color reproduction isn't just for photographic work but for watching movies and so on. No netbook on the market has an IPS display because it's the most expensive screen you can buy (among E-IPS/H-IPS).
2) While the resolution isn't a wide-screen one, most people are going to be fine with that resolution, remember it's a mass market device for all type of people including elderly. Most of those people that I know don't like working with high resolutions at all. They prefer bigger and clear text than high DPI, they can't read without straining with high resolutions. Which is once again, one of the primary function of this device, for reading also.
3) LCD isn't going to hurt unless you're in a dark room. People read on LCD all day long and doesn't bitch about that part because they are usually in a good lighting environment. Adjust the lighting to match the brightness on the display, it'll be fine. People read books all the time on iPhone/iPod touches as well, ebook readers app are one of the high usage apps on those devices.
4) That has to do with the screen, and it last for more than 7 days, it can last a month of usage. People are not going to care, trust me, they are used to charging their devices daily now with their cell phones, laptops and so on. People are not going to be reading stuff on iPad for more than 10 hours in a day, it's an acceptable compromise for high quality color LCD.
5) Amazon's Kindle DX cost 489$ which is almost the same price. Can't really compare 6" screen device that only does one single function to a 10" device that can do multiple things and say it cost half. Not really a fair comparsion.
Jobs is talking about doing certain tasks much better than laptops and netbooks, he was wrong on trying to say it does better than laptops/netbooks/iphone in general but he was right that it does things better than them at certain tasks.
Web browsing is usually a better experience with multi-touch, many people would like to zoom into certain parts of a site to read, something that multi-touch does better than laptop or netbook. Ebooks, not comfortable to read on a laptop or netbook that has keyboard in the way and not to mention heavier as well as heat issues.
But that's beside the point, if you need the ability to install any OS and software you want with real keyboard, large storage and better spaces; nobody is holding a gun to your head to force you to buy an iPad. Netbooks will be around for a long time.
Majority of people don't care about OS installation, will get their software from the App store, storage probably won't matter to them as majority of people are starting to move toward cloud services, and majority of them probably don't care about expansion connections. We're talking about general people who doesn't do much and just wants a simple device with a nice screen that does multi-touch and works right out of the box.....in this case... iPad is just perfect for them.
