I suspect Apple will increasingly shift to marketing the Vision Pro towards businesses that can increase their efficiency by utilizing it.
That would require them to keep the product around, refresh it and to actively support it. I imagine they'd want plenty more customers than just businesses with niche applications to make that worth their while.

Else it'll quickly get taken out back and dealt with in a manner most appropriate . :apple:

The gold Apple Watch was never intended to be sold to the general public as a product.

Rather it was part a brilliant marketing campaign to introduce Watch to the public. The media/TV coverage and product buzz Apple snagged of the gold Watch was priceless. Sure, Apple sold a small number to celebrities and similar people, but that was never the intent.
Somehow I recall reading (maybe on a watch blog?) that Ive is a (mechanical) watch aficionado and wanted a comparable high end option for Apple's baby.

Except that you kind of made that up. Ive’s thoughts about the Edition watch aren’t secret. MacRumors reported on it:

Ive wanted it to be a fashion accessory. Like a Rolex or an Omega and other watches that people routinely pay WAY more than $20k for. But Apple wanted it to be an iPhone accessory. Ive made a mistake by misunderstanding the high end watch market. Those buyers don’t want a quartz watch, and that’s basically what an Apple Watch is to them. So no, it wasn’t a “brilliant marketing coup.” It was a major failure for Ive and one of the reasons he’s no longer at Apple.

Really, the only thing holding back the VisonPro from being the next iPhone trillion dollar product is its price.

Get it down below $1000 and you'll see all sorts of amazing apps developed for it.
It’s a headset general public don’t want it.

iPad Pro is more expensive everywhere because it includes incredible new display technologies. Apple has worked to keep prices as low as possible by trimming back some features that only a small number of people used. Apple doesn't price gouge and always wants to get their products into the hands of as many people as possible.
Apple, quick, snatch this as the next PR campaign catch phrase. 🤣

Apple prices are based on Exchange Rates and GST. Often Sales Tax isnt listed in US prices.

I much preferred ten years ago when we had dollar parity not 66 cents.
But thats where we are it seems.
The politics of why we are there are maybe for another day...

The Apple Vision Pro should start at $5499 I would imagine (inc GST).

Probably more like $5,799 based on current exchange rate. U.S. pre-sales tax starting price is $3,499 which is around A$5,220. With GST it’s A$5,742. Since Apple likes to use numbers ending in 99, it becomes A$5,799.

Sorry, but no, its been out for many years.
LG (the makers) have been using this structure in its automotive OLED displays for many years.
in a tablet?

not seen another tablet advertise that as a feature.

it's just a selling point of difference no doubt. but a very nice one no doubt.
this is about creating a high tech, bleeding edge device far ahead of any competitor.
do they expect to sell many? maybe not.
but then the more expensive phones have sold better than the mid-range ones.
people work out what they value.
the M4 chip is to show how superior Apple in house chip design is. churning them out at a fast pace.
and the reason isnt to get them in customer hands only.
these chips will power Apple AI servers (along with the fast M2 chips) and Apple has long talked about AI stuff.

From Mark German in todays Power On newsletter.

The Vision Pro has done reasonably well in the US (considering the challenges of selling a $3,499 headset here).

How is that possible with the device being a massive failure? Looks like a certain crowd pushing that false narrative has some explaining to do. Oops … 😂

This is good to know. It seems it's Samsung that is having trouble with double layer OLEDs (re: reports of low yields and technical issues with the 11" displays). Hopefully my iPad Pro will have an LG display.

Don’t understand apples strategy. Selling this device in countries with weaker purchase power and meanwhile the M2 is two gens old.
Anything but fresh. Nothing to be excited about.

Yes it is expensive as expected for gen 1 product, but prices aside it truly is a wonder of technology. Those who can’t see it is just plain ignorant. I am sure there are people in those countries who would really enjoy it like myself.
Ok it’s expensive as you say
The reason why people are saying it’s a flop is it doesn’t actually do anything that the general public would be interested in.
Apple are trying to sell a consumer product at enterprise prices & it’s not going to work.

Apple never hid that it’s a niche product. They name it ’Pro’, they didn’t advertised it like iPhone or iPad, they show what it can do right now and what it could do more It is never a general public consumer product to start with.

Exactly. Apple knew adding the Pro made the expectation of price and function above what the masses need or want.

The initial iPad was just ... iPad.
Priced well and functional.

Even then, when I bought one immediately, people at work were like "why would you need that?" until they saw and tried it. The ability to draw UI designs (I worked in a web design company) was so much easier than the Photoshop mockups they used to do.

Yes & that’s why it won’t be successful
Because if you look the now the amount that’s for sale second hand & cheaper online.
