We expect iOS 18.0.1 to be a minor update focused on bug fixes. Issues that could be addressed with the update include touchscreen issues affecting the iPhone 16 series and some older models, an iMessage bug where a shared Apple Watch face can cause the app to repeatedly crash, and iPadOS 18 bricking some iPad Pro units with the M4 chip.
That last one concerning the M4 iPad Pro if fixed will make a lot happy. It's unusual to have a new device impacted like that. Likely early next week we hope.

48MP ProRAW to 48MP HEIC conversion: When using Quick Actions>Convert Image>File Format: HEIF>Image Size: Original, only a 12MP 4032x3024 HEIC file is created because the 48MP 8064x6048 ProRAW DNG files saved to a folder on the device for batch conversion get incorrect dimensions metadata. Maybe iOS18.0.1 will fix this bug. The batch conversion in original size was no issue in iOS17.6.1. So far, it seems that very few people are bothered by this annoying bug.

Seems mostly newer devices are affected with all those bugs. I am using 15.0 DB1 and 15.1 DB1 since day one on an SE2020 and 2022, iPadPro 3 from 2019 and iPad 9 from 2021.

Everything was working fine from the beginning. I think there had been one app that wasn't launchable in the very first developer beta, but it got an update the next day or so.

iOS 18 release seems to be half-cooked in many aspects, but the goal is selling iPhones 16 with, by now, virtual Apple Intelligence. Not a good move for customers. Everyone has noticed something fishy this year launch and OS releases

Bugs I see, when scanning a QR code, with the dedicated app it stays blurred when it detects the app it has to open.

Safari Favorites are huge, like if I had set Large icons but for Safari.

App icons are dark across iOS even if I chose Light icons on the Home Screen, not sure if bug or not.

The new Apple Watch face, Flux, is not appearing in the watch app on iPhone. Weird. I tried restarting both devices as suggested but no luck. Also can't pick a home hub in the home app.

Apple beta testing process is a joke! Every iOS release comes with .1 updates within a week or two.
In this case it should have been sooner. I was beta testing and sent feedback two months ago for the following bugs: 1: having the first letter in a spotlight search on the iphone causes it to crash unless you do it quick enough. 2: Apple Music is insanely slow when you decide to pick another song most of the time. 3: Touch screen does not function very well on the iphone 16 Pro Max on ios 18 (this was discovered post ios 18 launch).

If you guys think 18 was bad, cast your minds back to 17 and especially 16.

16 broke autocorrect completely and had me wanting to put my phone through a wall. 16.1 helped immensely with all the other bugs but autocorrect never got fixed until 17.

17 had that fun bug where you'd type a paragraph in Safari, and randomly upon hitting backspace it would change all the text you had just typed, or reinsert something you had deleted, all kinds of fun chaos like that.

Compared to that, and with the feature improvements in 18, this has not been so bad.

Having said that, also hope it includes some carrier profiles from MVNOs not yet supporting RCS, and/or Apple's implementation of those profiles since nobody wants to take credit for them not working yet.

I’m torn. Part of me would like to stay on iOS 17.7. On the other hand, I’d like RCS in Messages - but almost nothing else in iOS 18.

If it's just RCS you want, you can wait. Unless you're certain that it's supported by your network operator, AND that your intended recipients use Google Messages, you may not even get it anyway.

Translation: we can see Apple peeps creepin' on us! /s

Very cool, I have held off on all the recent updates waiting for a .1 or .2 release based on feedback here. Except for my AppleTVs, apparently I forgot to turn off automatic updates on those.

Apple TV update has been surprisingly great. I dusted off my HomePod Mini pair, turned Siri off on them, and put them right next to me on a small TV with good picture but not great sound. That combined with Dialog Enhancement and it's suddenly the best sounding TV in the house.

I guess that's more about the HPMs but the dialog enhancement is new(ly working well.)

I tried using the collapsible sections in Noted on my 13PM and it locked the whole app up to be unusable. After waiting for minutes at a time, I was finally able to remove the section and it works great again. Would love to have this fixed as it’d be a solid feature

If they would polish up Notes just a bit more, and go all the way with Markdown support and more flexible export, that would be yet another app I'd no longer feel any need to replace. I too have noticed Notes being weird lately, also with Math Notes.

haven't really encountered any bugs. battery life could be better though. Vision OS on the other hand is still full of bugs. feels no different than the betas I was running before
