You're missing another point here: some jokes - even if they are good jokes - do not age well.

Case in point: The first 15 minutes of Eddie Murphy: Delirious would not be considered appropriate at all nowadays, seeing how far we have come. Yes, it is funny, but again, would not work in today's society.

The same applies here, and knowing what has happened over the past 6 years with women and their denigration, especially in the political world, he should have known that what he was saying would have had repercussions. Lack of forethought is no excuse for such an action. then saying that they are "soft" is even more of a cop out.

BL.
People should be allowed to make tasteless jokes. A person should be judged based on how they treat each other, not because they make a crass joke. People are so overly sensitive that everything has to become a fireable offense.

Just because a very small percent of people have had negative interactions at work, doesn’t mean that making a boob joke is the same as full on sexual assault.

People need to grow up and let men have a sense of humor.

Please explain for us, and be specific, how the comment:

"and fondle big-breasted women"

Is sexist? Doesn't seem to be versus the definition.

Let's go into this. He is taking his role as a VP in a multi-billion dollar company as the reason why he can play that social role in being able to handle women in any type of behavior he so desires, based on his sex, and the sex of the woman in particular.

He is merely describing his sexual activities and his seeming well endowed lady friend seemed to agree. Do we all need to know what he does sexually? No, but I'm not surprised they practice that particular activity.

Is chauvinistic? Also doesn't seem to be versus the definition.

The definition you posted actually answers your question; again, because of his role, he is using his role as a place of superiority to do those things he has described to women. That definitely meets that definition.

How is a man stating that he fondles breasts a chauvinistic comment? Isn't that just a general sexual activity and if his partner is well endowed then he fondles large breasts right?

Is at women's expense? His lady friend seemed genuinely amused, she did not seem offended, marginalized or embarrassed.

You assume that one woman == every woman. That is not the case.

You do not seem to understand the meaning of words you use but your turn...

Being amused by indicates compliance with it, which reflects poorly on that man, and even more poorly on the company as his statements can and do reflect poorly on the company he works for, regardless of if this was on his own time. He is in a visible position and is responsible for some major activity for that company.

But what do I know.. I'm only some person who has had to report such comments and harassment of women to HR while that harassing man went down for defrauding the company and the US government out of 6 figures of money.

You can't quote a 40-year old movie and expect everyone to know it. That's something you say private to a group of friends you went to school with, not on a video that's going to be seen by hundreds/thousands/millions of strangers, especially with your employer known.

We need to move away from the use of pop culture in anything and everything.

Or perhaps men should grow up and finally realize that their tasteless locker room jokes aren't appropriate anymore, because women are getting tired of being demeaned by them.

Had I seen that video, not in a million years would I know who he is. It looks like a rich dude with a sexy woman in an expensive car making a crass joke in fun. To be honest, I had no idea it was a quote from a movie either and wouldn't have been shocked one little bit by it.

Whose standard? Is there a defined standard? Does his Apple contract say he can't say "breast" in public? It's ridiculous. It was meant to be funny and not sure how anyone could even really be offended in the first place.

Maybe the fact he was with a large breasted woman showing off cleavage in public is not within Apple's standards? Where does it stop?
I don't know but he didn't just say breast, it was "fondle big breasted women", which, while a joke, can be construed as tasteless, and for a company like Apple, who's already under the microscope for such things, I can see the zero-tollerance approach

A person can make all the tasteless jokes they want to.

That doesn't mean they're free from the consequences of the things they say.

Walk downtown in a club / restaurant district on a Friday night and tell me women are demeaned by the mention of large breasts. They're literally on display everywhere.

Then, the next thing you know, there is a rumor that the “old white guys” had a party where someone made this joke. Next thing you know we end up with the guy getting fired.

It’s like men are allowed to make dumb jokes anymore. If no one is being hurt (physically, not offended, anyone can be offended by anything.), then no harm no foul.

We are turning the world into the largest group of elementary school kids. “Ms. Tic tok, he said something naughty, they need to be fired.”

Wow, that is purely delusional. How exactly is he using his role as VP to do anything at that moment? He is on his own time, at a car show with his lady friend. He mentioned that he "fondles large breasted women", a comment his partner agreed with. In no way is he exhibiting a tendency to "handle women in any type of behavior he so desires" you 100% made that crap up to make a man who made an off color joke sound like a serial predator.

The definition you posted actually answers your question; again, because of his role, he is using his role as a place of superiority to do those things he has described to women. That definitely meets that definition.

Because of his role? Again, 100% crap, a male minimum wage worker at a fast food joint most likely fondles breasts and if his partner is well endowed then he fondles large breasted women! He is not at work, I assume the lady with him is not a subordinate so he has no power or position to do anything.

You assume that one woman == every woman. That is not the case.

There was only one woman there and she was not offended. At no time was he asked if it was ok to post the video online.

But what do I know.. I'm only some person who has had to report such comments and harassment of women to HR while that harassing man went down for defrauding the company and the US government out of 6 figures of money.

While sad that has no bearing whatsoever on this particular situation. Stop virtue signalling.

That is a cop out. If they are free to make a joke, they should not have to worry about their job.

That’s like saying you’re free to not pay your taxes. You just get to spend a weekend with the pain monster.

If there are consequences, are you really free to do something.

Or perhaps men should grow up and finally realize that their tasteless locker room jokes aren't appropriate anymore, because women are getting tired of being demeaned by them.

Exactly how, and be specific, was the lady involved being demeaned? She was laughing and enjoying the moment. Stop making sweeping generalizations and/or imposing your definitions on others.

The guy was at a car show, NOT at a company event or representing Apple and he was quoting a movie?

I dont get why people give a ****.

You don’t get why any females working for him wouldn’t feel like they were on equal footing to the males? Why anyone he had to deal with as a rep of Apple wouldn’t be put off, given differing customs/culture? Ok

That certainly isn't a cop out.

What if I went out and told black jokes using the n-word? Should I not have to worry about my job?

Again, I doubt he was representing Apple in any official capacity but I am almost 100% certain that Apple (as just about every company does) has standards and codes on how employees are to conduct themselves, both on and off the clock

How thoughtful of you in wanting to blame the victim here. I believe we see where the problem lies.

But I digress; who doesn’t love a good objectification? 🙄

Why even respond? Because you should be able to do whatever you want on your own personal time! What he said didn't break any laws. He didn't say anything about his employer. So much for freedom of speech.
This is not about freedom of speech. On the contrary, this is about the freedom to say nothing to these TikTokers. The result is obvious, and it happened. Just because you have freedom of speech doesn’t mean you have to be dumb for these TikTokers. They’re not even worth your time talking to them. So he basically wasted pennies of his job grade, and now lost his job.
