I'm hoping that the the keyboards/mice etc. will all be usb-c by the end of the year.
And that will help us ... how?
How often do you buy a new keyboard / mouse? Or buy a new cable to charge it?
The device comes with a cable to charge it, so what would changing the port mean really?
There isn't even the issue with special cables for fast charging etc.

I am still using my Magic Mouse i bought in 2016.

2 new macbook air models?

LOL

glad I didn't buy that M2 15" Air. M3 15" Air pls thanks

Would've loved a 30"+ iMac but Apple took their time.

Christ - how much is that going to cost?! Must be using a 6k screen to maintain >200 ppi...
Here's hoping for a 5k 29.5" screen at 199 ppi. That would be frickin' awesome.

However...

I'm sick of waiting for a proper replacement for my 2017 iMac, so I guess Apple won. I'm buying a Studio Display and a Mac Mini. I tried the Dell 27" 4K monitor for a while, but the scaling issues are terrible, and the image quality isn't anywhere near Apple's. I've waited for the Samsung Viewfinity S9, but I should have known better. Based on the first review, it also sucks.

The only question left: how much am I going to spend? The 2017 iMac was costly then, but I will surely break my personal record at the Apple Store. I just want a speedier machine, screen size is fine. You would expect that a similar, more up-to-date machine would be cheaper, but I need to spend hundreds of dollars more this round to get a similar setup.

A Mac Mini with 32GB of memory, a Studio Display, and an Apple keyboard and trackpad is now $3,646. Yes, it's faster than my current iMac, and I can reuse the display when I upgrade the Mac Mini in a few years, but holy ****, I've never spent so much money on a freaking computer.
I couldn't stomach the cost of the Apple Studio Display compared to my 2017 iMac, so I bought an M1 Mac mini with Huawei 4k+ 28.2" display. Slightly taller than the 27" Dell with the same pixel density, but without the reported light bleed issues.

I'll wait for >27" screens to come to match with an M3 Pro Mac mini or Mac Studio. I don't see myself getting another iMac.

I'm holding out a little longer for a 27" (or larger) iMac, myself, because historically the iMac has always been a bit of a deal compared to a Mini + external display. I guess it all evens out once you upgrade the Mini and reuse the display once? But still, I prefer the AIO form factor if I can get it. I'm using the 24" M1 iMac and love everything about it but the screen size. I can live with it, but I'd like to spread out a bit more without crowding my desk with a second display.

Have you considered that new Apple Silicon macs are so smooth you might not need that much ram? You would save a few hundred bucks.
Yeah, an M2 Mini with "only" 16 GB of RAM is still going to absolutely roast a 2017 Intel iMac.

Pssh, back in 1991 we bought a Macintosh LC which was Apple’s low-end budget offering and it cost $3,000 with the companion 12” display. That’s in non-inflation adjusted 1991 dollars. In today’s dollars that’s Mac Pro level pricing.

In all seriousness though keeping the Studio Display through 2-3 upgrade cycles of the Mac Mini will likely net a savings in the long run, and it will produce significantly less waste than trashing a perfectly good display because you want to upgrade the computer itself.

After switching to a 49”’wide screen I could never go back to anything smaller. A 30” iMac seems would seem to be overpriced for the screen real estate.

The work experience and usability is second to none in my ultra wide screen. I don’t need a super sharp res because I’m not doing video editing or anything along those lines.

...and...

Becoming my experience. 30" display feel antiquated. Seriously mulling grabbing a 49" UW with two computer inputs so that I can connect both my Mac and my wife's and we can use the 49 in conjunction with our iPads in Universal control

I'm a long-term iMac 27" user and I fully agree with these people. Hook up a good ultra-wide and you can't easily go back to 16:10. Even a 16" MBpro feels insanely cramped and much less productive when on the road. I'm hoping the screen on my next "laptop" will be a virtual one in Vision Pro, ideally a copy of my ultra-wide if not bigger for any "on the road" computing needs.

I wanted the 5K, so I went with the Dell 40" 5K 2K ultra-wide. It feels like it's about the same height as the former iMac but much wider. If it conked today, I'd immediately buy it again.

Besides the added screen RE, it features a built-in hub with a good variety of 2023 useful ports (instead of just one type) and has FOUR video inputs. Since I needed Windows too, I used a fraction of a new Mac/iPhone purchase to buy a pretty powerful Mac Mini-like PC. It plugs into one of the inputs and I can optionally split screen to have Mac on left and PC on right as desired. Each half looks like it is about the same size as the old iMac 27" but I have both going at the same time (when needed). The hub is also a KVM, so one keyboard and mouse works with BOTH platforms.

The main problem with iMac is that the computing guts conk or are made software obsolete FASTER than the screen goes bad. However, when any part fails, it's basically a "throw the whole thing out" proposition. Separates mean that I'll probably be using this same UW screen with my next Mac or two.

I need two things from Apple:

1) M3 based Mac mini
2) Apple Watch with glucose sensor

Both of those are instant-buys from me.

Apple is working on at least a dozen new devices set to launch between late 2023 and early 2024, according to an updated product roadmap shared by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In the latest edition of his "Power On" newsletter, Gurman explained that Apple is planning to launch two Apple Watch Series 9 models and a second-generation Apple Watch Ultra alongside the iPhone 15 lineup this fall.

Substantial updates to the Mac lineup will launch starting later this year or in early 2024, encompassing new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips, a refreshed 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M3 chip, two new MacBook Air models, and new 24-inch iMac models. In addition, Apple is said to be "conducting early work" on an all-new iMac model with a display larger than 30 inches in size.

Gurman reiterated that an updated iPad Air to replace the current M1-based device and two new iPad Pro models with OLED displays are on the way for 2024. Third-generation AirPods Pro, a refreshed Apple TV with improved specifications, and other "home equipment" such as smart displays are also in early development. A new generation of Apple's Vision Pro headset is unlikely to arrive until 2025, he added.

Honestly, I was in the same boat, but I managed to get an M1Max Mac Studio and Studio Display for $1500 and $1350 respectively (Costco sale items a few days before WWDC). That kept me under my $3k cap and I got a banging setup. It’s not the newest and best, but there gap in performance between generations isn’t worth $500+ to me. And in 2 years, I can upgrade to the M3Max and keep the display.

I dumped my iMac a long time ago. Mac mini and LG 27" monitor for me going forward. Mac mini is easy to go mobile with or drop off for repair versus taking an entire iMac.

Gurman reiterated that an updated iPad Airto replace the current M1-based device and two new iPad Pro models with OLED displays are on the way for 2024.

So if those OLED screens will first come to iPad Pro line, what will actually be updated in the current iPad Air 5? Bumping entry storage to 128 GB from the current 64 - not such a big deal, replacing M1 with M2 - who cares? Those OLED screens, FaceID & ProMotion will then be the real differentiating factors between Air & Pro. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Hopefully they'll move the front-facing camera to the landscape side. That, in combination with any other update, would be absolutely worthwhile.

I don't think we'll see any M3 Macs for a while, seeing as they've just refreshed a bunch of Macs with M2 and launched the brand new 15" Air.

M3 15" Air pls thanks
Either way, both M3 MacBook Airs are still more than likely at least an entire back to school, fall semester, holiday shopping season, and spring semester away from release.
I don’t understand this thinking some have that apple shouldn’t release a product in June 2023 because they have one plan for June 2024.
Plenty of people are going to purchase laptops in the next year, and the new M2 Air is one of the best value Macs ever.

I do hope everyone is ready for the new iMac (big) to start at about $4500 :)

Apple better give the M3 13" MacBook Pro a new chassis with MagSafe and new parts. Leaving the 13" MBP as the "Parts Bin MacBook" would be disappointing. It would be better if the 13" MBP gets an M3 Pro option, but I wouldn't bet on it happening.

Apple has lots of options for products that they aren't making:

Thankfully we have people like Mark to give us such accurate predictions. Given that the first generation of Vision Pro won’t arrive until mid-2024, everyone obviously presumed that it would be updated that same year. Now we know.
