...which has LPX and macOS on?

I don't know if you have tried it, but take a look at Studio One Pro if you think Logic Pro is great.
The mastering projects page integration with regular mix sessions is something LPX should have had years ago.
It runs on both, macOS and Windows. Also, Presonus got their sh*t together and got multicore performance up to par with LPX in the latests versions.
Though I do realize that LPX's price is its most attractive feature. Anyway, people should check S1 Pro out, it really is that great.

Dear Apple,

please fix the ever growing number of bugs on Logic Pro. It sucks being stuck in old versions because things are broken in the newer versions. Roland V-Drum mapping for example: fine during monitoring, broken when playing back. Open the same project in an older version and hey, playback works. It's full of these tiny things you only figure out over time. :(

What about bringing back USB-A port? Or accompanying some fundamental ports that musicians use a lot? Or all of a sudden they are abandoning their working reliable $10k+ equipment to embrace USB-C?

Oh, I am sorry. We have DONGLES. My bad. Just pack dongles with their MacBook Pro. That's fine.

Yeah, and Centronics too! And maybe ADB because it was popular 30 years ago.

"Oh, I am sorry. We have DONGLES."

We??? Speaking for everyone? I purchased proper cables right from the get-go.

If you want to stay stuck in the past with USB-A, there are loads of computers from other manufacturers.

Yep! And in many cases, you get to daisy-chain TWO overpriced dongles to attach one piece of gear.
My Firewire FocusRite Saffire Pro box is that way. USB-C to Thunderbolt adapter that you attach to a Thunderbolt to FW800 dongle. THEN, the FW800 cable can connect from it to the Mac and amazingly, it still works.

It's really pretty ridiculous.

Ridiculous? What's ridiculous is expecting Apple to include ancient FW ports on their computers to accommodate your particular situation using old equipment. FocusRite makes USB-based audio interfaces. Simply purchase one.

Aaaaaaaah look at all the cool MacBooks with their glowing Apple logos that you got rid of... :-(

Edit: sorry there was 1 new non glowing MacBook there and I’m pretty sure one of those pics was Michael fassbender playing Steve Jobs

Yah, I wonder if there was pressure from university instructors to get rid of the glowing logos. Imagine a whole room full of those staring at you while you're trying to teach. It was ingenious how they got that glow to work (part fo the screen, so no additional power required), but maybe there was another way they could've implemented it to allow one to turn down the dim or off completely, if needed. Or maybe it was just time for a change.

Music, as we know it:

vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.

But does voicing (shouting) a "load of swear words which rhyme", voiced in sync with predictable body motions, produces harmony and beauty of form?

Not to me. And maybe, just maybe, I am not alone.

Every time I'm exposed to that type of music, I'm actually struck by how little their lyrics actually rhyme. 'As long as it, kind of semi-rhymes', seems to be the very low standard the creators aim for. Quite fitting when you think about it.

Shiver me timbers! What's next? Poetry that doesn't rhyme? :)

Ironic considering how music streaming services like Apple Music is the source of so much crappy music today: https://qz.com/quartzy/1609273/how-streaming-on-spotify-apple-music-and-tidal-is-changing-songs/

MOST music these days is crap, in my not so humble opinion. UNLESS you like to listen to Post-Rock music of which there is a wide variety and not much in the way of crap. However, if you like lyrics then Post-Rock is not for you. (It has none. Pure, unadulterated, instrumentation.)

"Emotion", right there in the definition you cited yourself. Most likely an angry emotion, which is an emotion nonetheless even if it's not pretty or positive or PG

Maybe, maybe not, but recording someone shouting rhythmic profanities still needs decent audio recording, EQ and mastering tools, or you won't be able to hear what they're swearing about. Oh, and a drum machine. Recording good vocals is hard.

Meanwhile, the big failing of the music industry is that us old farts are still having to complain about rap and hip-hop, which is getting so old that most millennials' Dads probably listened to it in the 90s, while all the artists are getting old and joining the boards of major consumer electronics companies where they daren't even explain the name of their old band... :) Where's the new ear-bleeding tuneless zero-talent-required unmusical noise for us greybeards to complain about? All we seem to have is bland but vaguely competent covers of 20th century classics by talent show contestants... Why does 80s music sound so leftfield and raw compared to modern dross?

Music isn’t limited to voice, and voice isn’t limited to singing. Open your mind; think different.

Most people that deride rap don't understand that music encompasses more than musical notes.

Percussion is music and Rap is to percussion what singing is to musical notation.

There is rythm, syncopation, inflection, dynamics, and even pitch changes in the art form, and it requires a GREAT deal of skill to do well.

Now, if the quality of the music (rap in this case) is in question, then that is another matter entirely and objectively subjective. :)

Disclosure: I don't like most (modern) rap, but not because I think it's an invalid artform. I just fell in love with the sound of the electric guitar and prefer it, and I like cerebral, deep music (none of that "hey baby" stuff for me, thanks).

Sometimes, I get the best of both worlds, like the late but mighty Rage Against the Machine.

Music doesn’t have to be rude and offensive though does it? That’s not creative
Rock and roll was considered rude and offensive at one time by many, and courteous, inoffensive art isn’t necessarily creative.

All the art that’s created in the world, whether music or any other form, doesn’t have as its goal pleasing ThatiPhoneKid.

I'm just here for the comments stating how dare Apple make an ad spotlighting the Mac's music-making capabilities when the company has clearly abandoned its professional base and inevitably within a few years we'll all be forced to use iPads with Smart Keyboards because Apple clearly doesn't think the Mac is important anymore. o_O:rolleyes:

You said it.

I’m critical about iPhones all the time specially on hardware and design department ..
but Macs are definitely still the superior computer platform without any doubt.

Mac is the best Apple product.
Always been.

This ad is hilarious! A 2019 ad featuring music professionals using pre-2016 retina mac book pros. Funnily enough, I'm writing this comment on a 2015 retina mac book pro. The best Apple laptop made so far, and like the music pros in this ad, no way in hell am I "upgrading" to the the current fragile junk.

You beat me to the comment. I noticed the illuminated logos right away as well.
