Sure but again bringing the UI complexity of Logic Pro to a touch screen would be challenging. Have you tried using auria Pro? If so you’ll know what I mean. Though I’d certainly welcome it in some kind of useable capacity without a doubt.

It’s not only possible to work with complex apps using a touch UI, gestures might in fact enable more in depth interactions.

See FinalCutPro X. It’s as complicated an app as Logic but its UI seems to have been built for touch with large touch targets and a gesture based UI that would be right at home on an iPad. I’m convinced that that’s the eventual goal and probably part of the reason why it was redesigned from scratch.

Perhaps Logic needs to be redesigned as well.

The use of computers in music seemed very beneficially in the beginning (late 70s - early 80s). But let's face it, it has turned music into a disaster. Music became 'efficient': you didn't have to have any skills anymore to produce sound. It was already there, in the box, it was only a matter of putting the right elements on a timeline to create something 'unique'.

Absolutely love Logic!

It is the reason I switched to Mac in the first place 12 years ago.

Such an amazing piece of software and at such an incredible price considering it used to cost over £800 back in the day!

I was previously using Cakewalk's SONAR on my Windows XP Sony VIAO laptop.

My mid 2007 iMac is still running great to this day (although I'm definitely looking to get a new iMac soon)...

What bull**** you really think Paul McCartney is working out songs because of an Apple computer (BTW the Beatles trade marked "Apple" first)

Ironically more and more of my musician / audio engineer friends are leaving Mac for Windows alternatives. Nowadays Logic is pretty bad compared to the other multiplatform DAWs and you can build a beast machine for a fraction of the cost. Windows 10 is also much more tolerable than past iterations.

Yeah, awesome they have apps..but not Protools,Live,logic,garageband..all work well on the MAC
but if you can live with what linux offers then Bob's your uncle!
Yes, a 6-core, 16GB RAM, 256GB NVMe Mac Pro costs $2700
while
a 12-core, 32GB RAM, 1TB NVMe, 5TB 7200RPM PC costs half.

A pc nor Hackintosh is not the same thing as a Mac.
A Linux PC could be considered to be better, but with few mainstream applications.

Logic was a game changer: in the second half of the 90s. Then and in the first half of 2000s it was the MIDI-Companion of Pro Tools in nearly any High-Class-Studio in the world. Now it is just one of many excellent DAWs and not always the best choice. I'm sorry but the golden age of Logic is irrevocably gone and Apple doesn't stand anymore for uncompromising professional Tools for Creatives.

Time are changing. Nothing to worry about.

So Apple, you better stick to the illuminated Apple Logo, many of the pictures here would not be clear if it hadn't been the case. It's iconic. Keep it!
It's not about the glowing logo, it's about the ports. It just happens that they were both on the same machine model.

Yeah, and Centronics too! And maybe ADB because it was popular 30 years ago.

"Oh, I am sorry. We have DONGLES."

We??? Speaking for everyone? I purchased proper cables right from the get-go.

If you want to stay stuck in the past with USB-A, there are loads of computers from other manufacturers.

Ridiculous? What's ridiculous is expecting Apple to include ancient FW ports on their computers to accommodate your particular situation using old equipment. FocusRite makes USB-based audio interfaces. Simply purchase one.
They do not want our business. Why would I buy a new audio interface if mine currently perfectly, as well as all the other hardware that connects seamlessly. The design decisions Apple has been making in the past few years is what's keeping their new hardware out of my studio. And evidently out of most of the studios of the people shown in this video.

Half the people in the ad aren’t singers, they are just people who say a load of swear words which rhyme

“which, SOMETIMES, rhyme”

There, fixed it for you.
[doublepost=1558246707][/doublepost]Why is it that every time there is a Logic Pro X mentioned, people always think it is time to rant about Aperture?

So, if you don’t upgrade hardware and everything works, why do you need upgrade software, if it all works? Don’t fix it if it ain’t broken.

If, and the IF is the keyword in here, you need to update for some reason, is a $10 dongle such a huge deal for a studio, to keep old hardware running?

Logic used to cost, at least double of what it costs now, also libraries were at separate cost. Standard version of Pro Tools costs $600 and each year you cough up at least $99 for upgrades. Logic Pro is a bargain. And those few hundred $ you have saved, can easily justify a few $10 dongles from Amazon.

Hi Apple, some of us still love Rock And Roll.

Well, Music died in a car crash and got substituted by a bunch of rude blokes swearing over one beat loop.

A sample what is considered a lyrics nowadays. (I hope the profanity filter is automatic)

Bitches Ain’t **** by Snoop Dogg

Bitches ain't **** but hoes and tricks
Bitches ain't **** but hoes and tricks
Lick on these nuts and suck the dick
Get's the **** out after you're done
And I hops in my ride to make a quick run

So would you expect this ad to increase sales of current MacBooks, or pre-2016 MacBooks?

It’s not about current or out of date hardware, it’s about creative tools for music production and this ad is as close as it gets when it comes to reality.
I do this for a living and wherever you go - it’s not connected to size or budget of the studio - you will find a variety of Mac computers from the last decade.
Even the nMP 6,1 is used quite often, but remember we’re talking audio here, not video.
So I enjoyed the ad because it felt quite authentic.

Exactly you’re saying what I said. Logic and all other complex pull down menu apps, would have to be radically redesigned for touch screen.

And I’m not clear regarding your example of FCPX being a complex app that seems usable for touch control. Final Cut Pro x isn’t out on the iPad so cannot be used as an example.

Also trying to edit complex projects using Final Cut Pro x on an iPad touch screen would impact speed and slow down work flow dramatically. Can you imagine the number of screen presses you would have to do. Thousands per hour. For basic editing it would be fine. For sophisticated pro in-depth film editing particularly of network standard, when working towards strict time deadlines, it would not be practical as a straight port. It would need radical redesigning.
