I bet this means the new devices coming out next week will come with three months of Apple TV+, instead of a year with purchase.
A whole year for free was a nice value add. 3 months, no so much... but I believe they did this with Apple Music too. Originally 6 month trial, then 3.

I don't see how it is even legal to not let you have the service until the trial is over like nearly every other service we have. The only one worse is Sirius with the inability to ever cancel. They need a law where you need to be able to cancel everything online without hassle.
Well, it's a trial, so you aren't paying anything for it and as I recall Apple provides the conditions related to the trial, including how cancelation works, and reminds you when you are canceling as well.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they were seeing high rates of people cancelling the free trials. I mean, sure, I’ll take another three months, but I’m probably still going to cancel before the end. Apple TV+ desperately needs a breakout hit or two, but I’ll happily settle for even just one great show, and not a bunch of mediocre to good ones.

I think the lack of true break out hits might be due more to the lack of exposure. Lack of number of people with an Apple TV+ acct and even if they do are they watching the content consistently? Also a little less motivation to watch if you're not actually paying for it which many subscribers at this time are not.

They really should offer new users 3 months free without needing to buy an Apple product to build up the hype and generate more subscribers and word of mouth. Being late to the streaming game is a tough hurdle to get over as people have so many options now.

I know the two episodes of Ted Lasso I saw for free as previews were great but I'm not in rush to add another subscription. I can't even keep up with the content I'm already subscribed to.

There's also this:

I’d still wager that you get 12months free with any new iDevice & the 3 months is an extension simply due to the iPhone being late.
The 12 months wasn’t a trial, it simply stated that it reverted to chargeable after the offer had finished.
I know from comments on a previous thread that I’m in the minority. To me the guidance reads that this is the case & this’ll act as a driver to sell more ‘new’ stock or to keep iPhone upgrade programme customers resetting their plans each year.

I know it's all speculation at this point, but... what will this mean for future Apple One subscribers? I have the one-year Apple TV subscription expiring in December (now March I guess?). I just bought a new watch, so I should get 3 months of fitness free. Does that mean my subscription fee will be discounted? So my $30 premium subscription might be even less? I wonder how they'll pro-rate those discounts, or if they will at all.

Apple One isn't ready yet and they want to be sure not to lose people?

Either way it's a nice move.

it’s a sweet gift.

most likely Apple maybe looking at shifting which apps are included in the individual Apple One plan and they should. If not hopefully the pricing is to be adjusted as the more you ad not much is wanted by the typical user.

family subscriptions for Apple Music alone isn’t really ideal as parents soy on what their kids are listening too, something my son initially loathed before turning this default function off.

Errrrrr my sub. is not refreshed, it says that it ends on Nov. 1 2020 :eek:

mins also hasn’t refreshed still shows 11.8.2020 for my monthly subscription

Rene, fellow Canadian what’s going on bruh?!

Subscribers who paid for an annual plan or a monthly plan will also be credited $4.99 for each month through February. 9to5Mac says that credits received by Apple TV+ subscribers who pay can be used on anything from the iTunes Store or App Store.

This makes sense. With COVID delaying or halting the production of so many shows and movies, and simply less disposable income to spend on yet another streaming service, Apple would’ve seen a lot of cancellations that would’ve required another wave of advertising to reel back in. This way, Apple has time to complete and release some second seasons as well as premier some new content while expanding their catalogue.
This gives them a lot more runway, especially since they’re aiming to do “slow roll” advertising that only builds up once the trials start ending

The whole deal is that they can book hardware sales revenue as services revenue. Effectively they can buy themselves users, to show that they have a successfully growing services business.

You aren’t alone back in August I thought I was canceling the renewal but ended up canceling the service. They refused to allow me to finish my free trial and I refuse to be the only person the the US who pays for the service. I explained that I had in fact bought three devices this year they didn’t budge.
That’s why you read what it says when you go to the subscription page 🤦🏻

Mi subscription, in Spain, hasn´t been extended.
And it´s very clear for me, I can´t pay the Movistar TV, Netflix, Formula 1, Apple TV.....
I will cut it in November for sure...

I purchased a new Mac Mini last year from Amazon and could not get the 1 yr free Apple TV offer to work and never bothered following up. 15 free months of Apple TV is a pretty sweet offer.
