I encountered this issue immediately after updating. Tapping an app icon would darken the icon and it would pause at least 10 seconds before opening the app. Happened the first time you open any app. Though now that I've had the beta installed for a couple hours, it is no longer happening. And the settings app icon has a 1 badge for software update, even though it's been installed.

How much do you want to bet that those saying it "goes away" after 5 minutes are simply tapping on Apps that are already running? So seems to load "instantly". A restart or force close would probably bring the issue "back".

I have it on my iPhone X, although I didn’t notice any issues. Glad to see Apple has pulled it before it was sent out to Public Beta.

If you haven't updated to the new iOS 12 beta 7 on your iOS device as of yet, you may notice that the over-the-air update option is no longer available, and that's because Apple has pulled the download.

Apple appears to have removed the beta 7 update because of performance issues.

On the MacRumors forums, there are multiple reports of problems when tapping on an icon, which can result in a very noticeable pause before the Apple launches. As MacRumors reader OldSchoolMacGuy explains:Some users have said that the pausing issue disappeared for them after five or 10 minutes of using the iPhone, while others appear to be having continual problems.

Prior to when Apple pulled the update, several MacRumors readers had warned other users against installing the update on their iPhones. There have also been reports of other issues, such as apps freezing, Notification Center freezing, Lock screen freezing, and in-app functions refusing to load.

Apple was planning to release a public beta of iOS 12 today, but that may be delayed until these issues have been addressed in an updated release.

iOS 12 beta 7 is a significant update because it removes the Group FaceTime feature that has been present in iOS 12 since launch. Apple now says Group FaceTime will launch in an update coming later this fall.

[doublepost=1534194569][/doublepost]I think I wore my iPhone out and my finger is numb from hitting “Software Update” so many times.

I set the update going within about 15 minutes of it being posted (in the UK) and had left it on its charger while popping out to the shops and when I got back (30 minutes or so) it had updated, restarted and was ready to use.

Only then did I read the post about the app launch pauses so tried opening a few, the stock Apple apps seemed to be OK but I saw this once (with the BBC News app) which took about 10 seconds or so to open, once it did though, I could force close the app and on re-opening it, it started instantly.

I have left my phone (an iPhone X) for a couple of hours while I ate and talked with my family and now when I try it out, so far every app I have tried to open does so immediately.

So it would seem that this is definitely a real issue but, at least for me, a transient one - neither do I have the badge icon for a pending update.

Weird or what?

+1 Same here. Had this issue but it seemed to iron itself out after a few minutes.

Last week's update killed my phone's bluetooth connection with my car. Was hoping for an update that would fix it this week, but now I see this.

This is my last year doing the beta. I know the risks of installing a beta, but I got hit by a bug that affected me the last 2 years. I said I wasn't installing it this year, but did. I need to remember next year to just be patient for the full release. Oh how I love installing updates. :)

Maybe not related at all but when I saw that a major feature multi user FaceTime had been stripped from this beta my first thought was to not install until the dust settles. I’m a public tester, not developer.

this is a prime example as to why i do not have the auto-update feature on, and why i’m thankful i opt to manually install updates only after i read forums like this! i use ios beta on my only device so that i can report the issues as i come across them.

Apple has trouble releasing just about anything these days. What the hell gives?

My X has the horrible performance that caused the update to be pulled. Ridiculous.

Apple today is a vapid veneer of the Apple I grew up with.

Restoring from backup...

I thought that developer betas usually get released on Tuesdays, maybe this was released by accident?

No issues here either. In fact it’s better for me than beta 6.
