Exactly what I thought of 🤣It’s like MHBHD always says, never buy a phone with the promise of future software updates. Buy it for what it is now.

Yeah it was a big thing at the time.
They do? Where is the general consensus that “Apple ships crap”? Who excuses that?
Not in my opinion. But of course with over one billion customers there are varied opinions.
I like the photos app changes. I’m ambivalent about the mail app changes and I don’t use macOS.The new Photos app, the Mail app changes, System settings on MacOS, all these changes recently are horrible and unusable but people excuse them because Apple's software today is such a mess it's expected. We've been worn down.
Point taken. But you have to admit, there's some problems thereThat's not what the article says though:
"Some people in Apple's AI division think the features could even be "scrapped altogether" and rebuilt from scratch."
You're conflating a possibility with a certainty.
all I'm saying is that it REMINDS me of the Copland debacle. That's not what the article says though:

Tim should step down. He’s a disaster. To think they made Scott Forstall walk the plank for the Apple Maps fiasco. Now we have Tim Apple overseeing this disaster.
I was just about to spend in two of it's products, but seeing what they're doing I'll wait as long as they keep it's seriousness as a company."reasonable expectations". there are consumer protection laws that say manufacturers can't advertise features that don't exist. Otherwise, any company could advertise crazy futuristic features saying they will come later. It's BS. Apple's intentions were to have AI sooner than later but is failing.
Is iPhone 17 (1 year) or iPhone 18 (2 years) reasonable? Not to people who bought an iPhone 16 based on AI promises. That clearly shows Apple should have waited to announce it on the iPhone 17 or 18.
They are gonna lose millions if people gets angry because of this. Much worse letting down people rather than pay for a class action lawsuit. That's the keystone of any business, their clients. The features were advertised to be coming later. So if they come at all (1 to 2 years range) it's not false advertising. You're going to lose that lawsuit.
1 co-worker, no friends and family (though I can think of one or two that might do something like that). The other ones have been, I guess I would call them customers? Clients? I’m involved in some non-profit organizations that deal with the public.I agree, but the people who you mentioned that panicked didn't think to read the entire message before reaching out to you? They just read the summary and immediately reacted? Were these coworkers, friends or very young people?
Ah. He’s not stepping down. Nor is he being fired. Forestall took the hit on maps.Tim should step down. He’s a disaster.
Apple Maps. Siri. Apple Intelligence. Dude has about 10x as many failures as accomplishments.
I have to agree with this. When a multi trillion dollar company with a massive staff, and what is claimed as the most powerful chip in a phone, can’t bring to the table what was advertised. The problem isn’t the employees, it’s the ones running the ship. What a monumental excrement show. I do wonder about Apple lately, how can you have so much money, but still have so many bugs, issues and poor releases? It really is just about the shareholders now and not its customers anymore.Apple needs new leadership immediately

Nobody is excusing anybody but all of us have a different take on things.

Well, Siri never succeeded in what it was sold as to the public. It's not about bashing Apple. I am just pointing out that neither Siri, nor AI have yet been successful by this company and it's surprising considering the resources they have.I know we're shi**ing on Apple here and I'll get flak for defending Apple, but they're trying to do something that no one has really done before: create a SOTA LLM that will run on 8GB of RAM.
Now back to shi**ing on Apple:
they did this to themselves by putting in such low base amounts of RAM for so long.
And Apple doesn’t care that MR posters believe their customers have Stockholm syndrome. As I am acutely aware as a user of Apple products for over 20 years, many of us have stockholm syndrome.
The whole idea of summarizing potentially long communications into less than 10 words displayed on a lock screen is just idiotic. It is an ill conceived idea that should’ve never made it past the drawing board.
It’s those “apple takes its time to release things better than rush it like android” jingoists 😂It’s like MHBHD always says, never buy a phone with the promise of future software updates. Buy it for what it is now.
I remember the days when Apple wouldn’t announce products until they were shipping. They were glorious. Steve Jobs was sexy. The world was great.Where are those “Apple takes its time to release something “ people 🤣🤣

It's not that bad. We've had much worse. What they've done to Siri and AI garbage now, that has been horrible and a flop.iOS 18 has been the biggest flop in the history of iPhone Software. And extremely buggy slow/unstable even in current iPhones.
