Porn for example is not illegal but apple does not allow it in the App Store! You think they should?

There's a difference. Legally, kids under 18 can't watch porn, so it would be risky for them to allow it. But there's no laws against playing a weed version of farmville.

Apple is a private company, if they want to be a gatekeeper and screen out potentially offensive material, then I guess that's what they'll do to protect their brand image.

But they should also respect State Laws… which means this should be a legally downloadable app in Colorado, where weed is perfectly legal. Heh. :D

Yes, why not, unless the iPad or iPhone are only meant for children?

Why should there not be an Adult section of the App Store?

I don't think Apple wants to deal with a whole new level of legal confusion.

I thought weed was legal in the US.

I mean, little pricks like Miley Cyrus can light a joint on live TV award shows and her young fanbase and parents seem to be totally okay with that

First, waiting for this thread to migrate over to PRSI :)

Well....only thing to do, is to go burn one down....

be back later...er...stoned...

Followup post:

“Has anyone ever noticed ... wait, do people ... no, no .... OMG ... ICONS!”

So is that consistently inconsistent? Or inconsistently inconsistent? :D

The latter. I just went round and round with Apple over use of a webview, got a call from an actual named individual (with a masked callback number of course...)

If it was just a crap shoot, it wouldn’t be so bad, but you _think_ you really have a handle on things, see the same results over and over, provide supporting documentation to cover various policies, and *boom*, they pull the rug out from under you.

As much as I think drugs are lame, this developer has a point. In the United States we love our violent murderous rampages (on TV and in games), but abhor someone getting virtually blazed. It's a bit odd.

From the App Store Review Guidelines:

I haven't played to game so I don't know if excessive consumption of marijuana is encouraged, but otherwise they should be fine if the game is just about the growing/selling portion of it and you don't see people actually smoking tons of weed. After all, maybe customers will not actually smoke it and just buy it for the sake of it. ;)

A more effective solution however might be to add a couple medical signs to suggest it's a medical marijuana business, which wouldn't make it an "illegal substance" in that context.

well, either way, depends in the u.s. what state you're in for it to be illegal or not. in CO and WA any pot is legal. in many states only medical is legal and in many more states medical pot is still illegal. so, if apple is defining "illegal" they need to either go by federal law in order to be consistent (which would mean pulling this and all other weed related games - not to mention any car crashing, murder games as the devs point out) or just let it go and not have that so called rule applied.

Rofl, apple literally has nothing to do with this. They are trying to pool a flappy bird like others have said.

Can we just legalize weed already? I'm no stoner, but I sure do see the benefits of legalization.

1) More tax income.
2) Less organized crime.
3) Less non-violent people in jails.
4) Fewer stories on MacRumors about games nobody ever heard of or cares about.

Weed is legal in my state... There is nothing illegal about this game here. Put it back up I want to play it!

If Steve Jobs (LSD proponent) was still around and running the company, this would have never been taken down.

Weed Firm, is a gateway game that will eventually lead to users spending big on hard core freemium apps.
