Just like the news the other day about a "playful female masturbation"-App being denied the gap between the US and quite a few other countries of the western civilization becomes pretty apparent. I can understand why Apple has to stick certain rules and I'm sure that in the background there'a a lot of potential for all sorts of weird lawsuits, but it's a clear signal. I think that the internet and tech world in general were the best thing to happen to show the huge discrepancy between "public moral standards" and the actual wide interest for porn, nudity, recreational drugs and other stuff is. It's more than time that these things are being discussed in public instead of demonizing everything. In that context and with the threat of lawsuits by some "puritans" you could almost see Apple as victims of that widespread hypocrisy, it's their image that is suffering worldwide.

Instead, kids get to watch another ****ed up show like "24".

I just wish they'd ban those "texting" app things.

I don't really mind that those apps are proven to kill people - I just find them annoying.

And you can't even automate your phone to reply with a nice message, like -

"**** off - don't text me. It's a phone - f--king CALL me."

And if you turn off texting, women who you've had a one night stand with have yet ANOTHER reason to get angry with you - "He never texted me back!"

Also, we could ban twitter and Facebook and the rest of that crap that annoys me.

And who is this app censor? Guessing one of the "geniuses" at the bar?

Pot killed a kid in front of my house. The other driver was high (per police report) and hit him head-on on an empty road. "Harmless" seems a bit hyperbolic to me.
I read in the local newspaper that an 80-year-old black woman killed someone in a car accident recently. They should ban all 80-year-old people from driving. Or maybe all black people. Or maybe all women.

Have not seen the game. But watch it Apple, promoting a lot of games with violent and bad themes while weed is legal (not federally) in my home town. :)

Is that supposed to mean driving high is ok? It's illegal in the places where pot is legal, you know. But, I suppose your selfishness is more important than that. Go do whatever you want. If it's my kid you kill, you won't have to worry about the police, so that should be comforting.

Or are you just incapable of basic reading comprehension? Since that isn't what I talked about.

It will be just a matter of time when Apple will acknowledge the fact that a game about Weed isn't harmful for anyone's health nor does it leads to addiction among youngsters.

Here in Holland the government recognize the scientific facts more then silly preconceptions among the one's that playing violent games will result in becoming violent yourself or by smoking weed will result in using harddrugs for sure.

It's all based on lack on knowledge about the matter.

I think I'll write a game where you chainsaw people in half and drag their heads behind a muslecars bumper and sacrifice toddlers to the moon and get 12 year olds pregnant, and call it "Weed Party".

...then I'll wonder why old people and republicans vilify marijuana use.

So it's not available on Google Play either?

Yes, but not because Google pulled it - that decision was made by the publisher of the game after Apple had pulled it from the AppStore.

----------

Well, in America: violence > weed.

Yes, and America also still believes in barbaric sanctioned murder, also known as death penalty and execution.

Back to computer games: Shooting people in games is okay, as long as no naked breasts can be seen, because violence is accepted by the society but sexuality - in the country with the largest porn industry in the world - obviously isn't. So much for morale standards.

Cue the weed smokers.
Tobacco will kill you and anyone within about 500 square miles, but weed is OK to smoke - even healthy; isn't it?

Have another beer guys, the profits justify it all.

Given Apple pulled it, and then the publishers pulled it from Google, I would assume there's more to the story than just Apple making a moral decision here.

I'm guessing there's a copyright issue, or technical issue. Think about it… the Android people would go nuts on this app if they knew Apple pulled it and they still had access to it (i.e. the publisher would make lots of money potentially). So I would assume there's another reason and the game company is just not saying. Their statement sounds stupid…. "Apple must have thought it was too good"? Really???? I think they're ok with successful apps.

This whole thing seems stupid.

So has anyone confirmed WHY this app was pulled? I find it curious that it was pulled from the Google Play store too. They claim it is a "publisher issue", whatever the heck that means. Seems to me there is always more to the story, especially when we're only getting one side of the story!

Candy Crush encourages consuming too much sugar which leads to several health risks. It should be pulled!

Angry birds encourages the abuse of birds by putting them into slingshots and KILLING pigs. Peta should have had this pulled years ago.

Thats stupid app where you can "drink" a glass of beer on your iPhone encourages alcoholism. It should have been pulled.

;)

This thread is a great example of mob mentality. Assume facts not in evidence, render verdict, execute justice, evidence to be evaluated at a later date.

I love how so many in this thread know EXACTLY why apple pulled this app and know its because theyre puritanical and playing daddy.. I thought this was a fansite, didnt realize so many apple employees post here.

Cmon which one of you guys is Tim Cook? the hysteria on this thread is hilarious.

Can we just legalize weed already? I'm no stoner, but I sure do see the benefits of legalization.

1) More tax income.
2) Less organized crime.
3) Less non-violent people in jails.
4) Fewer stories on MacRumors about games
nobody ever heard of or cares about.

The lobbying forces in DC continue to pour money into blocking legalization. Which forces, you ask?
1) police unions (have to justify their budgets)
2) alcohol & tobacco industry
3) big pharma

It's all about the dollars.

Every time I see some jackass on TV asserting that marijuana is the devil and is a gateway drug to worse drugs I crack up laughing.

The sad part is, there are still a lot of people out there who believe that nonsense.
