This is their version of inflation or possibly hedging against china tarrifs if trump wont give them an exemption. I'm sure subscription prices for icloud, apple one, etc will go up next year too

The hardware has been the same price roughly since the 2000's. Macbook pros are still 2499, mac mini still 499, imacs still 1400ish, iphones are actually cheaper than ever at 429 or 699 for the "normal" one

I’ve only ever had one experience having my phone repaired through my insurance with my bank. It involved extra steps and me footing the entire repair bill before getting refunded the difference, I had to get a price repair quote from Apple, then speak to my bank and tell them I wanted to make a claim, tell them the repair cost quoted (quote had to be less than 48 hours old). They then approved the cost, I paid for the repair and was refunded by my bank a few days later (minus my excess).
And how much did you pay for that insurance?

I don't necessary have a problem with a modest price increase for Apple Care. I know costs have increased for just about everything. I just want the option to purchase Apple Care at least once for a 2 year period, or at least annually. Just don't take the away choice as to how we pay for it. However, I think what will likely happen is multiple small price increases over a period of months and years. If you pay two years ahead, your price for the service would be frozen over that time period.

Inflation in action, not going to make Trump happy but maybe Cook’s large contribution will mollify him.

Adjusted for inflation, iPhones are cheaper than ever.

So many here apparently have zero long term memory. The cost of both iPhones and AppleCare+ hasn’t changed in over 7 years and even decreased in a few cases. The iPhone X was $999 (for 64GB storage)…in 2017. You know how much an iPhone 16 Pro costs now? That same $999 with double the memory. The iPhone XS Max 256GB was $1249 (vs. $1199 today for 256GB 16 Pro Max) in 2018. You know how much AppleCare+ cost for an iPhone X in 2017? That same $199 that is available online today.

Apple hasn’t increased the prices of their iPhones in 7 years but you know what has decreased significantly? The buying power of the $. That same $999 in 2017 is equivalent to about $1280 today.

With the exception of iPad Pros, this is pretty much the case across all of their product lines. Original AirPods were $159 nine years ago—current 4th gen AirPods (without noise cancelation) are $129. The 2018 MacBook Air was $1199 yet the new M3 version is now $1099.

Sure I’d prefer to have all purchase options available everywhere but at least I still have the option to purchase the two year plan online. At the end of the day though, all of these purchases are optional. You don’t agree with Apple’s pricing, feel free vote with your wallet and look elsewhere.

See above comment. If they were keeping up with inflation all of their products and services would cost a lot more than they currently do.

This is only for new AppleCare+ plans starting today.
The prices of the same amount of RAM were much more expensive a few years ago then they are now. Same for OLED displays and other inner parts. Apple isn’t known for delivering the state of the art tech inside their products.

The tech inside your gear has become much cheaper. 120 hz screens are common for years now. RAM is cheaper, SSD, everything. Unless you use the latest in technology. And that is something Apple doesn’t do.

Did I miss where you cannot get the standard AppleCare+ plan any longer? I just went through the iPhone buying process online to test and it only offers the loss & theft plan. Also the AppleCare+ for iPhone website only shows me pricing for loss and theft. Are they hiding the standard plan or totally getting rid of it?

I am sick as all hell of all subscriptions, with software, streaming, everythng else. NO MORE!!!! I have always bought 2-years of Apple Care as an up-front lump sum with every new iPhone purchase I have made going back 12 years. Screw the monthly fee. Next time I buy a new iPhone, I will take my chances and go without it!! And I am not going to change how I buy the phone just to avoid the monthly fee.
Perhaps switching to DeCaf would help. Having a lot of subscription options, very few with contracts, to me is better place to be. Remember how it used to be with contracts everywhere.

Spend the money on making a better, more reliable, product.
My iPhone 16 Pro Max has random screen issues where everything freezes.
Keyboard, gestures....everything.
Have to wait for whatever it is that's going on to pass and then I can operate it again for a few minutes and then it's on again.
Very annoying

Decaf won’t help me (laughing) since I don’t drink coffee. It’s ok to offer subscriptions, but it is becoming the only choice, especially with so much software.

I only paid for AC for maybe 6 months back when I had an XS Max. Didn't pay anymore because I felt I was just wasting money. I have never paid for AC on anything else before or since including the two 16 Pro Max I got in November. It's waste of money. I have never needed any repairs on a Mac or iPhone since the very first iPhone and Mac I bought in 2007

How does one expect another profitable financial quarter? Honestly most people don’t require AppleCare, many credit cards offer this insurance for free. It’s not like your Apple device that you are using daily is going up in value, I really don’t understand the logic behind this. It makes sense to have insurance on your house because it goes up in value it makes sense to have auto insurance so you are covered in the event of being sued but for an Apple device; nope.
Some people don’t have or can’t get the credit cards that will cover their devices, so AppleCare+ is their insurance. Everybody isn’t so lucky. Plus some people like it for peace of mind. Me personally I like it for peace of mind, and the fact that I work 6 days a week, and do not have the time to take off and visit an Apple Store to have my device repaired and be without.

Not upgrading to our new models as quickly as you used to? No worries - we'll find new ways to extract that money from your wallet
This is EXACTLY the type of thing I envision for any company that I would start, that made a product. Rather than making a new version of a device, just to "sell more", I would have an on-going warranty, for as long as you wanted to keep your device. When we could no longer source the parts for repairs, THEN we would upgrade and users would get a discount (towards the new device) on their current model trade-in. Yeah, you wouldn't make as much money, but, hey... happy/repeat customers is part of business, too, isn't it?
