Yeah it feels like they're definitely gonna get rid of the 2/3 years plan

Which SUCK

**** em
So, you'd rather have a limited warranty for only 2/3 years, rather than an ongoing warranty that would last multiple years beyond that? I'm sorry, but I'd gladly have my M1 Mac Mini under an ongoing warranty (AppleCare+) than have to accept the fact it's no longer covered and, if anything happens to it, I'm up poop creek in a leaky canoe without a paddle!

What are you talking about ?

When you get a 2/3 years ac+ , you can extend it afterwards with yearly sub or monthly sub

That still saves you a good couple of bucks for the 3 years

I’m just curious as to how many people purchase AppleCare+? I’ve been using Apple products since 2007, and have never purchased Apple Care+. No issues with products either that weren’t resolved at no cost.
✊🏻🪵
I’ve purchased it with every Apple device I’ve purchased for me and my children. Not just when devices have broken screens or cracked backs, but also when mechanical issues pop up after the 1 year warranty expires.

The last three Apple products I bought I paid for Apple care plus. One subscription to two and three year warranty’s paid in front. Not going naked. We’ll always buy AppleCare regardless from now on have too many issues in the past.

I think it makes sense for products you take out of the home regularly like the phones and watches. That's what I buy it on.

I tend to prefer the monthly since you can cancel anytime if by chance you upgraded sooner than you expected.

I'm not surprised it is going up 50 cents because people take their phones everywhere and put em through a lot. I was recently at an Apple Store picking up a new watch and it felt like everyone else there was getting
a replacement brown box iphone.

Some people don’t have or can’t get the credit cards that will cover their devices, so AppleCare+ is their insurance. Everybody isn’t so lucky. Plus some people like it for peace of mind. Me personally I like it for peace of mind, and the fact that I work 6 days a week, and do not have the time to take off and visit an Apple Store to have my device repaired and be without.
I think you may have missed the point, I have a case and screen protector and the only time I every had to use the credit card protection was when I didn’t have a case and screen protector on my iPhone 4S.

Unless you are playing football/soccer in a cave with sharp rocks then even the case would probably be beaten up and the screen protector shattered. Most people are just handing Apple more money, bet I am a shareholder and I profit from this anxiety but it’s overrated, your phone is not increasing in value neither is it some one of a kind product.

I had a case and screen protector on my 15PM and the back still shattered. I work around heavy machinery, and my phone slipped out of my pocket and fell in the back of my truck. I had peace of mind knowing I could get an express replacement sent to my home and didn’t have to take off work to get another device. I wish my credit cards would allow me to use insurance to cover my devices but they don’t.

I've never had AC+ for my phones, only for the more expencive Apple stuff, as Mac's + for some cheap stuff that was new to me, like HomePods.
Never had to use it, ever.
My iPhone mini is not crying for didn't get it, and are still a small happy phone.
Cancelled the subscrition for the MBA 2024 recently, she didn't cry either.

Not happy with an increase but surprised to see only a small hike. Apple could have gone for much higher increase. Will only be a matter of time before AppleCare shifts completely to a monthly subscription service. This will give Apple a continuous stream of cash flow.

A wonderful reminder to cancel all AppleCare and never buy it when buying a product from them. I used it once on an iPhone years ago. It would’ve been far less expensive to have simply never had it and paid for the repairs in question out of pocket the one time I needed them. It’s a scam. Like most forms of “insurance” although at least the one time I needed it, they paid. How nice of them.

Can someone please clarify:

(i) can the monthly payment be extended for the whole lifetime of the phone (e.g. 5 years?)

(ii) can it be started anytime (e.g. after 2 years)?

If Apple Care is not purchased within the stated time from purchase, the opportunity to acquire it later is not an option. The Apple Care information does not specify a time limit as to how long one could buy coverage, but when the product is declared obsolete around seven years after the last ones were made, there are no more parts so that is the reality.

My family has purchased probably around 20 iPhones, iPads, Watches, and Macs over the years. Assuming we keep each device 3 years, this would add up to over $5000 for the extra 2 years. Thankfully, I never purchased AppleCare+ because I've only done two battery replacements after the initial year. Maybe I'm careful or just lucky.

I know everyone's situation and risk tolerance is different, but do consider that most people will never get the value out of AppleCare+.

Maybe go without and ask them to be more kind to their devices and take a bit more care?

I've noticed we tend to value things more when they don't just get replaced over and over again with little to no repercussions
I think I value my marriage more than the cost of AppleCare. They certainly aren't breaking them on purpose. Glass is glass and glass will break.

Also, I am not some benevolent dictator that imposes my will on my family.

ha! Fair enough, I hear ya

I'm just always amazed how I've broken one iPhone screen - ever, despite having one since 2007 and using it all over ... boating, running, at the gym, etc

People may not be breaking them "on purpose", but they are being careless to some degree
There's no other explanation. Phone screens don't spontaneously break themselves

I went to buy regular Applecare+ on my new 16PM and it only gives me the option with the additional Theft and Loss coverage which I have no interest in - I WFH. The $10.49 plan just doesn't show up. Anyone else seeing this? I'm in the US if that matters.

I just went on the website and it only includes theft and loss coverage now, there’s not coverage without it for someone reason. I’m in Canada but I went on the American Apple website and didn’t see any option without theft and loss coverage. Are people actually geographically in America seeing that too?

Happily, I am exactly the opposite. Enjoy being what Google is selling.
GoogleTV has App Only Mode, and whatever movie and tv show ads are cycling are similar to what AppleTV does. I have greater flexibility without being treated like a child as GoogleTV offers Developer Mode and Apple feels even it’s adult customers need protection which is an insult to its developer tbh.

Apple like Google, Amazon and Roku are all selling something but with Google as mentioned I turn it all off with App Only Mode.

Yes, I asked this question yesterday. I am wondering if the standard AppleCare+ plan gone or just being hidden.

Ahh - okay. I searched back a little bit but glossed over your reply somehow.

I'm not paying $13.99 a month for AppleCare. Hoping it is just a glitch because of them changing the regular plan's price and it will become available soon. Otherwise I'll just get a screen protector and forego AppleCare.

I have never had a screen breaking on any of my iPhones (starting with the 3GS), but on my 13PM after a little over 2 years faceID started to fail on me and I got a refurb via AC+

I'm a huge fan of applecare+ especially with teenagers carrying around an iphone. It's great to spend $99 plus monthly costs to replace an $800 phone.
