Got tired of waiting, and so now I do Hackintoshes. Apple has clearly thrown in the towel on their desktops. The 8th generation Intels have been out over a year now...
Because he gets a better laptop and saves about $700 at the same time.If you need the power of a Lenovo X1, why would you be looking to get an Air rather than a Pro anyway?

This makes no sense. The Mac Pro has server grade components and the cost is reflective of this. The Mac Mini has laptop grade components. The IO requirements of the Mac Pro far outstrip the needs of the Mac Mini. It would cut into margins to design a Mac Mini with the PCI-E lanes required in a Mac Pro. Add in the costs of ECC memory and true "Pro" grade hardware, the Mac Mini would be too expensive to be a replacement for the current Mini.Hmmm... what if the Mac mini is actually the 'modular' Mac Pro. It's simply a box with powerful cooling, lots of ports and accepts a range of CPUs. You can buy a base dual- or quad-CPU as a 'Mac mini', or spec it into a beast with a pair of 10, 14 or 18-core etc. CPUs as a 'Mac Pro'. Then you buy a GPU enclosure to plug into (or physically connects with it?) with whichever GPU you want/Apple wants you to buy. The cooling might be overkill at the bottom end, but Apple only has to make one box. After all, they managed to fit single multi-core chips into the slimline enclosure of the iMac Pro...
They sell the base box, you spec it how you like and can upgrade it - from Apple of course - as you see fit. Just a thought.
I think the Mac Mini will increase in prices as well. I also think it will be all soldered components which will be disappointing but that's the way Apple seems to be headed.I would expect the new Mac mini to start at ~$999 USD, but with enough BTO options, you will probably be able to take it all the way to $2499. The current Mac mini can be optioned all the way up to $1999 for i7/16GB/1TB SSD.
I do not think Apple has lost those niches yet, because there are really no competitors for them. Intel has the NUC, but they are not a major PC OEM and the iPad mini has zero competition from Google as the Android OS just does not have a good tablet experience. However, the Surface Go may have woken Apple up just a bit, at least with the iPad mini.
I am reasonably sure they are going to look like this: https://www.apple.com/imac/
Okay, I'm happy for you? It's quite clear what Apple's mentality is with modular laptops. You're entitled to disagree with this, though I don't see how a new MacBook Air (which is what you stated in your original post) would rectify this.
I don't see the relation between a new MBA (or lack-thereof) and you buying a Lenovo. It sounds like the Lenovo was always the machine for you, hence my confusion.
If a new Air is coming and it just get a spec bump on the screen I would be ok with that. If they remove all ports and add just USB-C and use that new "keyboard" of theirs then my time with Apple is over.
I have been using their products since 2005: Laptops, iPhones, Ipads and Desktop.
Regarding the Lenovo, what I ment was that if I jump ship I can get a MUCH better laptop for about the same price.

what about the imac pro needs an bumpIt probably also means the 1080p 21.5" iMac will be axed, with the new Mini taking place of the entry position, but what about a display?
It is pretty easy to install macos on a pc. I think I used unibeast.Do you do hackintosh laptops as well or just desktop?
Bump what? To say it’s been bumped? There are no new parts to upgrade to right now.what about the imac pro needs an bump
When the Mac mini is updated can the crowd unleash deafening applause just to make a point.
Thats how I'd like to see a new Cinema Display to look like.Let's hope the new iMacs look like this:

If it’s going to have a couple of xeons then I don’t think it’s going to be so mini.Hmmm... what if the Mac mini is actually the 'modular' Mac Pro. [doublepost=1540394349][/doublepost]The problem with the applause is that Apple wouldn’t see it as sarcasm. They would see it as they are the greatest thing since sliced bread for making people wait allthis time for a refresh! I mean look how happy they now are!!When the Mac mini is updated can the crowd unleash deafening applause just to make a point.
Depends on how you option it. Obviouslyany bets on how much the possible new mac mini will cost? 1799 and up.
Sadly, this is probably accurate.iMacs with T2 chips and RAM hatch removed from 27"?
Mac mini with desktop i7 and entire case as heat sink? And T2.
13" MacBook for more money than MBP.
