So, you just want a bezel?

USB-C _is_ a premium feature. Compared to Lightning, it’s more fragile and would be a huge mistake for the education-focused $299 entry level model. Apple’s currently using it as part of the package of differentiating features in the $499 Air —> $799 Pro upsell. The main problem with the Pro models is the cost and that makes USB-C look like a premium feature. Hopefully they can give USB-C to less pricey products to finally make USB-C mainstream.
If I understand it correctly, with OLED if you reduce the voltage (to lower brightness) it can change the color output of the diode. So to retain color accuracy they pulse the light so they can keep the voltage the same. Or something along those lines.Wait. LED light is operated in PWM because their input power is AC. Why on earth Apple uses PWM on display when input power is DC?
You’re not wrong, but many use the Air in landscape orientation much of the time, where the somewhat-too-thin bezels are no longer on the left/right. btw, the 9mm bezel on the Pro models is nothing short of perfect, but yeah it’ll sure make a dent in your wallet.Speaking of bezels, I recently bought an iPad Air. It's a lovely piece of hardware but because of the narrow bezels on the side I find it awkward to hold without my thumb covering part of the screen. On a mini, the lack of bezels would be fine because you can get your hand around the whole thing and rest it against your palm. And for a laptop or desktop, obviously, narrow or no bezels is not an issue. But I have to say, for the iPad Air, it's not *quite* comfortable. Hardly a huge deal, but it just feels a little "off" from a design standpoint.
I would love an iPad mini pro. I work in the field and prefer the mini for work orders and emails. Fits easier into a tool bag. More comfortable to hold. Don’t need the screen real estate like some.
That is incorrect. The 10.5" Pro is not capped at USB 2 speeds.Well, yeah. Lightning is a slow port compared to USB-C (which is often but not always used over USB 3.x), capped at USB 2.0 speeds for all devices except the first- and second-generation 12.9" iPad Pro models.

phew, i really needed more iPad sizes. But, I'm still holding out for the 8.5", 10.35", and the 11.286" models.
7 iPads???
Some of them have just got to be the new pros then. Dammit, that 18 month upgrade cycle was much easier on the wallet.
Regarding the macs registered with existing codes, has that ever happened in the Eurasian database before? Any theories what that’s about?

Wouldn't be so sure about that... the mini 5 might have been the last small iPad. They already took 3+years for a refresh...The most intensely annoying part about this as an iPhone SE lover is that we can’t ever get some smaller new phone options yet there’s literally a different size iPad out of the blue every year it seems like.
Source? Hardware wise USB 3.0 has been supported for years as far as I know...Well, yeah. Lightning is a slow port compared to USB-C (which is often but not always used over USB 3.x), capped at USB 2.0 speeds for all devices except the first- and second-generation 12.9" iPad Pro models.
USB-C transition IMHO must be the entire product lineup at once... e.g. in 2020 change all iPads and iPhones to USB-C...A Mini Pro with USB-C at 3/4 the price of the current Pro would be a good starting point for the Lightning -> USB-C transition.
Would love an iPad mini in the iPad Pro design. No bezels
Visually: Yes, but for handling the device in landscape: absolutely not. The bezels really allow for a good grip on the device with one hand without resting the thumb on the screen itself.I would like a bezel less iPad mini![]()
Can you explain to a non tech savvy person in less than 1 minute the difference between the iPad and the iPad Air? I myself was trying to decide which iPad to give my dad some time ago and I couldn't decide.
The regular iPad is the iPad for everyone. For everything else, iPad Pro? I don't know.
Steve Jobs had set this up perfectly. 1 consumer line, 1 Pro line. And that's it. Why can't we just go back to that???
Who gives a **** how many models of the iPad they make? As long as they keep updating them semi-frequently we all win.
It was a joke targeted at iPad product line which is a confusing mess. The article doesn’t mention screen sizes. Also there is a model number for each storage option and one to differentiate models with and without LTE modem. I would say that it would be nice if people at least tried to understand what they read (?) and make a honest effort to write something sensible, but I guess these concepts are out of fashion nowadays.
By bezel-less, what I mean precisely is an entry-level 10.2" iPad with FaceID. It would be to the iPad lineup what the iPhone XR is to the iPhone lineup.that may be where the 10.2" comes from versus the 10.5". The 10.5" iPad Air (2019) and iPad Pro 10.5" are slightly bigger. 9.8" in height instead of 9.4" for the iPad 2018. Similar to width where it is 6.8 versus 6.6 If they capped the height to fit in same height dimensions then probably needed to shave something off the screen to keep the front camera. Loose some small incremental vertical and horizontal pixels and the diagonal would shrink slightly too.

Bezel-less probably not. Smaller bezels probably so. Doubtful it is a notched screen at discount prices.
Will though need more thumb and finger on what would have been he bezel protections though.
Probably loosing more side then top/bottom in bezel.
If sticking to same case the 10.5" won't quite fit and would only have space in whatever could get out of the shrinking the bezels more.
P.S. also probably a good excuse to keep the front facing camera small and cheap as there is no room.
Buy what you need now. If you can wait then wait a few months.I'm kind of confused as to whether to get the iPad Pro 11" with the BTC offer and 8% student discount or wait for the new one. I really need to retire the iPad 2 which I use only to read PDFs now as basically anything else on it is incredibly slow.
