A small update in the conflict between @steam_games and Apple: Steam now confirms that they had disabled the ability to make purchases in the iOS app. Apple still has not commented on why they rejected Steam's app.
lack of choice is Tim Cook's innovation of choiceso much for innovation winning out.
this is probably the most inaccurate statement I've heard on this board in weeks.
Tim Cook was a logistics/supply chain guy all he cares about is maximizing efficiency/profit.
its like he had a child's understanding of what Jobs wanted to accomplish, and his take away was lighter & thinner for lighter & thinner's sake, then he used his skill set to continue what he thought the goals were.
in my opinion, they should have made Scott Forstall CEO, they needed young blood & passion at the helm not a bean counter.
or he's inferring what Apples doing as SJW like because many of the causes they have are similar and they are doing things to the detriment of there core user base which is a negative and because SJW's are also a negive it further solidifies his opinions, speaking of which why do you say Apple isn't full of SJW's?
Nope, I kid you not MacOS is in fact not the same a Windows also Hackintoshing is against Apple's EULA and as for IOS i couldn't even attempt to install it on a non-apple based ARM processor
and that's just the software don't get me started on there strong-arming US customs and there user-hostile stance on right to repair.
funny for being commodity PC hardware Macs are pretty locked down
Hmm...
I’m able to use Remote Desktop Apps to access my PC, purchase games from the Windows App Store, and play those games without Apple receiving a share of Windows App Store revenue.
Why is this different?
Accessing a 3rd-party computer?Does Apple ever comment?

Likely what it’s being advertised for.
I love Apple, always looking out for the consumer. Thanks Timmy Cook. BTW I love the new watch bands!
They do reverse decisions. We still don’t know why this was initially approved and subsequently rejected.Does Apple ever comment?

Edit: my point remains - on its face this is blatant discrimination by Apple, the gatekeeper to all apps which seek to be installed on iOS devices. They really need to tread carefully here.
I’d assume the blog reviews had something to do with itThey do reverse decisions. We still don’t know why this was initially approved and subsequently rejected.

On its face, this is discrimination. I’m wide open to considering otherwise, but I’ve stated my rationale and I stand behind it.I wouldn’t throw the word discrimination here so fast. But I don’t know all the facts yet and nobody else here does either.
Any Corp is gonna protect their turf. I'd make the same decision.
But Android phones have better gpu performance, and better radio/modems in them. Which means Androids would run games better than the latest iPhone. But even more so now, being that Apple can't run any steam games, AT ALL. Stupid decisions are making many consider the move to Android, as you can see from the multitude of angry customers. We don’t know the exact reason beyond “business conflict in the app guidelines”. Which, if it’s in the guidelines? I can’t say I really feel bad for Valve.
Then again, I find Valve complaining about a single app getting denied after recent events to be pretty stupid.

If you move to Android to run Steam games shittily, that’s amazing.
Actually, the app is already out, and no, Google will not follow stupidity.Next days Google will follow too
I am amazed that anyone would seriously defend this with that argument. If that is reality then it is time for me to work on leaving Apple behind. I prefer a platform not designed around monopolistic practices. I can accept denying apps based upon security risks or because APIs are misused, but to ban an app due to fearing competition is absolute bs.Why should they be ashamed? Do you think it would be ok for Burger King to sell burgers inside a McDonalds? Didn’t think so.
The fact it was approved and then rejected makes me think the rejection came from high up. I don’t think it was just someone in app review making a mistake.Yeah. I want to know why it is they rejected it. I was just saying that beyond reversing it, they don’t say much. Phil Schiller and Tim Cook are probably talking as we speak. I doubt either of them really knew much about this before now.
Apple wants its 30%.
Just remove the store interface from the app and they should be good.
