Really, so what? The whole advantage of mobile gaming is to play while you're mobile. But this won't do that, unless to you "mobile" means "while within the four walls of your house". And even then, you'd better have a flawless wifi setup.

This is hardly a loss for Apple consumers.
Just because YOU wont use it, or see the benefit of this app, doesn't mean other users think like you.

Apple bans Valve's App. Doesn't ban all other low latency LAN "screen-sharing" game playing Apps that connect back to a real computer

slow clap

One more reason why I'm happy I moved away from iOS. Kinda past done with Apple's ********. I would encourage more people to drop Apple so they get the hit that this 90s era-Corporatocracy way of handling business is what ultimately nearly killed the company.

Besides that, this app was also to work on the Apple TV, which I was really looking forward to. I already have a steam link device, but with this I'd be able to game on any TV in the house. Honestly... this app would of made me MORE likely to but another Apple TV as it would double as a fully fledged gaming hub. Now I just have that bitter taste that makes me question switching out of the apple ecosystem more and more everyday.

Seriously Apple - **** you

This is infuriating.

You do NOTHING to promote really serious game development on your platforms and the least you could do is not cock block something like the Steam Link App.

Screw you guys
I'm a lifelong Apple fan who is nearing my limit of this BS.

You people don't get it. Apple isn't here to offer global access to 800 million potential customers so Valve can remote link games via a tunneled VPN.

Put an actual native iOS Steam client on the AppStore and port the games to iOS. It's that simple. Valve charges people to use their platform, but wants a freebie? Not going to happen.

Rejected why? Because it works better than AirPlay? Because the games are richer? Because the it raises the bar for what a game can be on an iOS device?

Sounds like it's based on fear to me.

Not to mention that Valve is hostile to developers while complaining about this single app being denied.

Apple is being hypercritical with this by targeting Valve. There are already low latency LAN remote desktop-like programs that will allow you to do exactly what the SteamLink app was going to do. They just aren't made by Valve.

We don’t know the facts as to why this was denied. Why not try to get facts before we grab pitchforks?

Because of the walled garden approach that Apple implements with their app store, they're especially subject to scrutiny for anti-competetive practices. They've already had US lawmakers and EU officials question their approach to Spotify and others' apps and services.

They better tread carefully here.

It was denied on "business conflicts", which has long been Apple's goto for denying high profile apps they don't like. Especially ones that they're gearing up to add their on version of the functionality the app is offering. Or apps they feel are trying to get around their 30% cut on everything passing through their OSes.

Apple should be pitchforked until proven innocent.

This is, as far as i can remember, the one thing that Apple did that makes me the most mad against them... and im a pretty good Apple customer. I know everyone isnt the same type of customer as i am for Apple but i hope there are enough of us, and that Apple realizes the impact this is having on their reputation to reverse this decision promptly.
I will send an email to Apple to let them know of my deception in hope of change.

Can't have silly ole' Valve eating into those App Store profits, now...
Apple wants Valve to make games purchasable via the app so they can get a 30% cut. They require this of every app in App Store. Since you need a PC capable of running the game anyway, a gamer would be crazy to pay the 30% mark up. Steam should just make the consession if its possible.

Signed up just to say I´m done with Apple, I was looking forward to this, what a stupid decision, it would add so much value to the Apple TV, how idiotic can Apple be?

Couldn't agree more, the apple tv as a gaming device in its current form is pathetic. Shame on you apple. Greed is good.
