Finally, updates!!! Most of the people here can stop bitching now. Notice I said most. ;)

And what's with all the negative votes? Apple is including 2 GB of RAM on two of the models now. Kudos to them! :D

C2D a waste so close to 10.5

Why would anyone spend $2,000 +, when you can hold off for a few months and get Leopard pre-installed, or wait a bit longer and get Leopard pre-installed WITH the Santa Rosa, flash-booting chip.

There's no way I'm buying a MBP for that much money so close to a new OS launch that will cost an extra couple hundred... not to mention the promise of the Santa Rosa... HOLD OFF!

That's odd... I've been to several Apple stores recently and I didn't find the glossy to be bad at all - night and day compared to windows-based laptops with glossy. Maybe your store has different lighting??

The glossy is awesome. It's no better than the matte screen and no worse, just different. Do a search of these threads, it's been discussed. But go see it and judge for yourself, it's merely a personal preference sort of thing for the most part. You can get more glare with the glossy, but it also performs better in brightly lit environments and outdoors.

My order was completed by 7:07AM Cuppertino time... Estimated ship date is 10/31. It would be nice if Apple ships ealrier... It said 3 to 5 days on the configure page.

I'm guessing the orders are fullfilled in the order they were recieved and completed?

Congrats on everyone waiting for the C2D MBPs! I was waiting for them too to see how much the refurbs were going for. : ) But I do have one question. I just pasted these two builds from the refurb section. In fact, they were in this exact order. Am I missing something? Why is there such a price difference? They seem to be the same MBP except $2149 vs $1599?
I've never bought a refurbished machine before and I was just wondering if this was due to an indication of quality? Thanks for the help. :)

With that mentality, you'll never buy. There's always an update of some sort just a few months away. Whether it's a bump in HD options, CPU speed, new OS, etc...

Leopard should be a $125 upgrade... Having the MBP now will enhance my productivity and it should pay for itself by the time Leopard is released (and then some). When Leopard is released it will still be running on this same hardware. I am aware of the promise of Santa Rosa and I'll make that call in 6 months when/if it arrives. If you can wait, then good for you. You obviously don't need the new system right now. I pretty much need the ability to use 4GB of RAM, but I can work around that for now... So I probably will upgrade when Santa Rosa hits, but I may wait for the following update in about a year...

OK....

I can top all of the whiners now that the new Merom MBPs are here.

I want the 3" MBP so I can carry it in my shirt pocket and it will magically expand to 17" with 1920x1200 when it detects the magsafe within 1/4 inch in distance.

Super Hi Q Graphics card that reads your mind and does what you think it should do.

Airport Express WiFi that detects any wireless within 500 miles and locks onto it at super speed.

Either you can use the keyboard or it will read your mind telepathically and do what you want it to do.

:D

That would be siiiick.

I don't know if the "Airline Adapter" is new with the release of the new MBP [new to me at least], but don't most airlines these days not allow computers to be used during flights? Why wouldn't they just release a car adapter? I'm sure thousands more more would find a use for an automobile charger rather than an airline charger which, by the way, I have never seen on a plane before. Usually I'm seated only with a headphone jack, a broken station knob, some 500lbs guy and a crying baby.

Good arguement, i will indeed be running XP/Vista. Now im more confused.

correct me if I'm wrong, but the 120 and 160 drive options are both 5400. Is there something super-technical about the 120 that makes it "faster" than the 160? (a simple yes or no is fine....I don't need a book on it) :p

Why wait 6 months or so for Leopard and Santa Rosa when you could wait a year or so and get Leopard and a computer better then Santa Rosa. And why stop there. You could you not wait a year after that get 10.6 and a even better computer. And as an insider of the computer industry I will happily tell you that in 5 years that you will get a computer with way more power and a better OS X just by waiting.

Thank you Apple, finally! :)
Pardon my whining, it just sucks being without one of your wonderful portables, and THIS is the one I wanted, not that old thing. ;) So, you have my order yes, and I would be eternally grateful if you manage to send it before the estimate your orderconfirmationpage says, which is the 7th.

Most airlines do allow laptops, at least in Europe. And of the 10+ times I've travelled from UK to USA laptops have been allowed.

You've never seen a charger socket on a plane because you are a cheapass that always flies coach :) All business and first class seats have charger sockets.

Nice bump

Looks pretty good,

I am currently looking for matches to light a few candles to Santa Rosa, maybe she can make the miracle of making the other gig of memory re-appear and make it usefull, I will also ask for the Mag Cover and a nice bump on the graphic card, what the heck if she is listening it will be sweet. If she is not listening, it just the expense of a few candles. Pray with me. Together we are louder.:D

Most of them are allowing you on with the laptop, just not the battery.... therefore the airline adapter is a must.

Yes! FW 800, 2.16, 1 GB RAM, on the base model! I almost bought the mid-range MBP last week. So glad that I waited and am going to save $500.00!

160GB larger read/write area, 120GB smaller read/write area. its like flying to a longer distance at the 600MPH instead of a smaller distance at the same MPH.

Right? all the buffs out there correct me if i'm wrong

The price of the 1st one looks like a 17" screen. Might just be an error on their side!
