If you really are in Finland, and you really are a feminist, then your opinion is irrelevant, and any rational White male will immediately recognize that sad fact. If Finland is anything like other Scandinavian countries, you have institutional and legalized discrimination against White males in total favor of females and "ethnic minorities". Your post is oxymoronic in an important way: you advocate for women's "rights" while spewing anti-Semitic false information about Jews being "over-represented" in the workplace. Your embarrassing lack of logic is testimony to the failings of feminism.

You're like the black guy on the corner blaming white people for all their problems. There is no reason you cant succeed except your attitude. You're attitude is what is holding you back. People can see it on you from a mile away.

Its easy to go on and on like that when you are sitting behind a computer screen. However, you should put your money where your mouth is and tell everyone who tries to hire you about your views on race and ethnicity. You are like an HR problem waiting to happen.

Could you cite an Affirmative Action quota on the federal level?

I believe you'll have a very hard time finding one.

The program does not work as you believe it does.

No he cannot. Why bother asking him a question he can't answer. He's not interested in facts. He's worried that "less qualified" minorities and women are taking away jobs from white men.

Taken from a quick Google because I couldn't be bothered typing:

Positive discrimination is the process of giving preferential treatment, especially in employment, to minority groups of society that have been prejudiced against in the past. It should be noted that ‘preferential treatment’ does not mean that these individuals will automatically be preferred to another candidate, but rather should two candidates be deemed a similar level, the individual from the minority group will be preferred.

For example, should two candidates who are equally matched in skills go for a job and one is from a minority group and one isn’t, then positive discrimination will see that the former candidate will receive the job offer.

The idea of positive discrimination came from the US where an ‘affirmative action’ programme has been used to try and ensure the make-up of certain work places reflects that of society. It should be noted that under UK law you cannot discriminate against somebody because of their race, sex or social background as that would be against the law.

No matter how fancy you dress it up, discrimination is still discrimination and is supposedly illegal. If you give positive discrimination to one person, that means there are others out there that you gave negative discrimination towards. But I suppose its A-OK as long as its a white male that got the negative discrimination.

I agree. However, in practice if the company doesn't like you they aren't going to hire you. It doesn't matter. No one can actually prove that affirmative action is what is being used to hire people...just like it's hard to prove when blacks get discriminated against at twice the rates of white people. I just see angry whites getting bent out of shape over a non-issue.

----------

If I'm accusing you of anything, it's that your personal feelings are inadequately informed. The only people who have ever accused me of being racist to my face have been White people (I am White). That tells me something: it is White apologists who perpetuate both tokenization and multiculturalism. In reality, I have only been the victim of racism directed at me by blacks, in Richmond, California, a ghetto city where I grew up, and in New York City, where I live. So you apologist liberal Whites force me in between a rock and a hard place: On the one hand you call me a racist, which I have never been (although many blacks claim that all Whites are racist by nature, which is a ludicrous concept in itself, and probably applies more to themselves), while on the other hand blacks actively practice hateful racism against me and other Whites (my White Puerto Rican friend in New York was victimised by the "knock-out game").
Then, when I dare to relay my unfortunate experiences and empirical knowledge on forums like this, I am censored by moderators, subjected to irrational attacks by blacks who accuse me of racism and hatred, while they are the ones doing the hating, and sabotaged by inexperienced White suburbanites spewing irrelevant liberal rhetoric against me.
Yes everyone else is wrong about your racism regardless of the race of the individuals who claim you're racist. Even white people are claiming you have race issues. Your posts reek of you coming from the place of racism. You can't get mad at people for seeing you as you are. I live n NYC. You should try being groped and fondled by the police everytime you get off the train. You'll say it's perfectly okay for police to fondle minorities as they get off the trains and killed rather than arrested but its white guys who are being discriminated against. Do you actually read your posts? You should read it. Show your employer and your employer's HR department your posts. Let's see what they think. Everyone else is wrong and you're right.

The world is out to get you and other white males. Never mind the other white males who are getting along just fine in Cupertino. Muaaaahahahahaha!

You seem to think you know more than you do. From Wikipedia:

"Affirmative action or positive discrimination (known as employment equity in Canada, reservation in India, and positive action in the UK) is the policy of providing special opportunities for, and favoring members of, a disadvantaged group who suffer from discrimination.

The nature of positive discrimination policies varies from region to region. Some countries, such as India, use a quota system, whereby a certain percentage of jobs or school vacancies must be set aside for members of a certain group. In some other regions, specific quotas do not exist; instead, members of minorities are given preference in selection processes."

I love that they use the term "positive" to describe discrimination against White males, while discrimination against everyone else is criminalized.

Please cite the quotas in U.S. federal Affirmative Action policy.

I believe you're clinging to a bygone understanding of the program.

It simply doesn't work like you think it does.

People who vilify Affirmative Action, and believe it enforces quotas in hiring, simply don't know the current state of the policy.

It's time to throw away old conceptions when they don't adhere to reality.

It's absolutely retarded actively trying to pick different races and genders. Who cares?

It simply doesn't work like you think it does.

.

I think that you'll find, in his little world, he believes that everything and everybody is out to get the "White Male".

IMO He has become so blinkered that any fact that does not support this view, is seen as a lie.

You shouldn’t need a study. It should be common sense. We are different, fact. Dogs are different, cats are different. Our skin colours means we react to sunlight differently, is it not beyond the bounds of possibility that there are other small things that make a difference?
Look at your average Negro and your average Mongoloid. There may have been cultural differences in the past that have influenced how they appear now but the fact is that now they are different. One is usually taller than the other for example. I suggest then that the longer limbs might predispose to faster running? Again the differences may be small but so is a difference of maybe 1/2 a second over a distance of 200m.
It’s not a study and I can’t prove it. But I’m open to the fact that we may be different and those differences may extend to more than just my hair is blond and yours is auburn. What I need you not to do, (and I don’t mean you personally), is vilify me for it.

The post I quoted said it was "well documented" that "physiological differences between races" account (at least in part) for different races excelling in different areas of sport. I was challenging that very specific claim, and from your post, it looks like you agree with me that no such differences are "well documented" by any method of science other than conjecture about what "may" be true (which of course is no science at all).

I am guessing that the Foxconn employees don't add to the picture of job equality. Statistically speaking we all know who Apple hires.

So really what you're trying to say is that Apple announced the Galaxy Alpha today?
I mean since they are kind of employees of Apple too and stuff... right?

Have I been offered any data to counterpoint? You are doing exactly what you accuse me of. Typical insubstantial troll behavior.

I like how your response essentially boils down to a wordy "I know you are but what am I!".

Yea, I guess you should skim back over the stuff you replied to. Pretty much every response comes down to you immediately saying someone is wrong without offering substance and then trying to fit some them into a category of a group that is politically opposed to your ideals.

I await more of this tripe as a response to my post, I see you have been busy working your "magic" already in the posts after your reply to me.

I know you are but what am I?

Your moniker says it all hater.

Why is that none of these tech companies has addressed the low diversity in applicants for Computer Science degrees? The reason why we don't see more women, blacks, or hispanics in these tech companies is because they're uninterested in CS. Fix that problem first before hiring for diversity sake.

That is really why we are not seeing many females in tech related fields. All we have to do is look at enrollment for computer science, engineering and mathematics to see that females are not as interested in those fields.

Diversity must take in account the total population. 70% Caucasians we are not going to see 50% to 50% ratios.

I know you are but what am I?

Yea you pegged me, I am a hater because I am pointing out how you are essentially just trolling this thread.

I knew you couldn't resist it though. I am a bit surprised you didn't try to shoehorn me into some feminist/limousine liberal/black supremacist label though. You did go for the ol' spicy keychain and tried to bring me down with my username. Mums, you never seem to disappoint.

There's it's different because there's physical differences between races, just like there's next to no black swimmers in the Olympics or whites or Asians in the 100m. I don't have a problem when it comes to sport as there's scientific reasons behind it rather than racism.

I don't believe there's differences in intelligence between different races, only differences in culture and education.

There is a difference in education, culture, nurturing etc in different groups. So when we demand the field to be level regardless. Than the sports team should scale back and make it fair to all too.

That's strictly speaking not true...

While IQ may not be very good test for overall intelligence as it's a test in mathematical pattern recognition, it is a pretty good test for mathematical aptitude. When you look at IQ tests in places like the U.S where you have multiple races growing up in the same kind of environment and divide the data by race, you generally find that the average black score is the lowest, the average asian score is the highest and the average white score is in the middle.

Another point you seem to refuse to recognize is that racial differences are more than skin deep. There's not just what I just mentioned, there's also a lot of biochemical differences in how the body works. Part of the reason why trials for new drugs are so extensive is that new compounds in those drugs can react very differently in the bodies of patients with different racial backgrounds.

If you want a really clear and observable quirk in a specific race, there's something called "Asian Flush" (or "Alcohol Flush Reaction") which is caused by a genetic mutation which about half the east-asian population is carrying. The mutation in question leads to the liver not being able to process alcohol properly and producing something called acetaldehyde. The effect of this is that those affected by this is that their faces turn red, they become really giggly and eventually they start feeling really ill.

If you watch a lot of anime you may have noticed that when characters get drunk, they exhibit basically the same symptoms, thou the redness is generally just drawn as two oval shapes under their eyes. An interesting side note is that they generally don't seem to understand that this extremely rare in non-asians so even characters that are clearly indicated as not-asians also get the flush when they're drunk.

Yeah, the IQ thing has always been a sticking point in the nature vs. nurture debate. But even it can have 10,000 different explanations that extend beyond the idea of fundamentally different human races. You could chalk it up as anything from slight cultural differences putting different emphases on different ideals, to nutritional needs not being met, and education being entirely abscent (in the more extreme African cases).

You can't point at one group of people and say they're genetically destined to be less intelligent than this other group of people, because even the supposedly most stupid of people can produce geniuses or other people of great worth at random moments.

As for Asian Flush, it falls under the same category as sickle cell. Having a mutation that tends to follow along racial lines isn't proof in and of itself that there are fundamental differences between the races. Only that if you're X, you're more likely to have a predisposition to Y. It's like familial diseases, taken one step beyond. Different people from different regions propagate different mutations, but the mutations themselves are small, and don't equate to an entirely new physiology.

I get it, but we refer to ourselves, collectively with other latn american countries, as latino's. Not hispanics.

I wouldn't expect you to. Hell, I barely even use the word myself when talking to or about someone directly. It'd be like me saying I'm a North American caucasian. Technically, it's correct, but I'd be using a demographic term to refer to myself, and it'd be all kinds of weird and awkward.

...I would get looks.

Like if I'm talking about Bill, he'd be Bill the Mexican, or Peruvian, or Puerto Rican. Nor would I use it when talking about Mexicans, or Peruvians, or Puerto Ricans specifically. Like I wouldn't say hispanics make great food. I'd say Mexicans make great food. But if I were talking about Mexicans, and Peruvians, and Puerto Ricans as a single entity, then I'd refer to that group as hispanic.

Most of the time, the word only comes up in politics or paperwork. It's not specific at all, just...like I said...an umbrella term.

It's sad to see the once great Apple descending into mediocrity.

I used to love MacRumors now I find it painful and I'm trying to stop visiting the site. Oh well, Apple had its day - can't depend on it forever.

I want to thank the moderators for not censoring my posts in this thread.

We all know you aren't going anywhere. And I also love the amount of people calling you on your BS. It's sad you can't realize when you're in the wrong when everyone else is correcting you.

An IQ test isn't "a test in mathematical pattern recognition."

There are elements of pattern recognition, and there are elements of math, but there aren't really many "mathematical pattern recognition" elements. Math is also only one portion of an IQ test. The verbal part (which actually comprises math, as well as vocabulary, digit span [basically a short term mem test], writing fluidity, writing quality, general knowledge, and more.) The Performance part is more about the right side of the brain; spatial ability, pattern recognition, visual memory etc. Unfortunately I was foolish enough to major in neuropsychology.

Also, studies have proven that when you control for all the variables (wealth, expectiations, social class, parent eduction, etc.), there is actually little to no performance difference between any of the races. Yes, this means Asians do no better than Whites OR Blacks. There is of course still plenty of individual variation.

This is a bit of a silly oversimplification. While, yes, certain ethnicities are famous for certain traits (sickle cell West-African decent/Tay-Sachs ashkenazi Jewish decent/pattern baldness Europeans esp. Greeks/Macedonians), it's more than a bit silly to assume or pretend that these traits don't litter the entire human gene pool. Generally speaking, drug reactions are VERY complex, and race often has little to no bearing on outcome, it's much more individually based; ratios of different hormones and enzymes, which can vary from person to person (esp. family to family) are often more to blame than are specific genes one might find more frequently in one race rather than another.

If you want a really clear and observable quirk in a specific race, there's something called "Asian Flush" (or "Alcohol Flush Reaction") which is caused by a genetic mutation which about half the east-asian population is carrying. Had to read up on this for a minute, turns out it's actually the opposite, they metabolize it very efficiently. Only way I can see this relating to drugs is if some topical were suspended in an alcohol solution and was then absorbed by the skin into the bloodstream =P

Wikipedia:
(It is commonly thought that the flush reaction is caused by an inability to metabolize alcohol.[citation needed] To the contrary, around 80% of Asian people (less common in Thailand and India) have a variant of the gene coding for the enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase called ADH1B, whereas almost all Japanese, Chinese and Korean people have a variant of the gene called ADH1C,[7] both resulting in an alcohol dehydrogenase enzyme that converts alcohol to toxic acetaldehyde at a much higher efficiency than other gene variants (40- to 100-fold in case of ADH1B).[2])

If you watch a lot of anime

Lord no...

If there's anything you should take away from that part of the post is that it seems to be ok to complain about whites being overrepresented, but apparently complaining about asians and jewish being overrepresented isn't acceptable and they don't seem to fall into "minorities" in the "whites vs minorities" figures.

Well, to be fair, in the social sciences the definition of "minority" is a group or class which is underrepresented and lacking influence and power. Women are a minority, despite making up more than half the population on Earth. :p

I get it, but we refer to ourselves, collectively with other latn american countries, as latino's. Not hispanics.

Speaking of latinos, I once got into an argument with this really high strung guy around here who said that he hated the word, because it was a label applied by white people, and no person of Spanish descent would ever dare use it.

...kinda wish he were still around to see this thread. :p

62.6% of the population in the USA is white, not hispanic or latino - in 2013's census. So, it's pretty on par with the population.

He is probably a us latino, some of them prefer "chicano". They are usually born there and don't know who they are but they do not speak for the majority of us. Just goes to show you, there's always someone upset about something.

Then again we laugh about the latinos in the us making a big deal over cinco de mayo and it's pretty much nothing here.

Indeed, though it's how you define best.

Women have been given equal rights, even though you may not want them working for you.

Employ young girls, spend time and money training them?
Why bother?
A fair proportion will probably get pregnant, want lots of time off, even decide they want a few years out to be a mother.
Best to focus on the males you know will be more reliable.

The fat ones, will probably move slower, so rule those out also.

Anyone disabled? No way, why have one when you can get an able bodied person instead?

Anyone over middle age, again, no point there. Be looking to retire by the time they get really good and know everything.

That the world you want to live in?

We can go back to adverts for Males only wanted if you like?

I hear you but thats business. I still would always hire the best person for the job/company or move the jobs to countries in which I find the best environment for the company.

For the people you mention you should get a fair social/health and in particular education program. The state should be responsible and not companies. Offer everyone free access to high quality education. Then people from lower social groups get a chance to educate themselves and become in fact as qualified as the already rich white male from a wealthy family.

Actually, he was the liberal European Mums. Absolutely couldn't stand the US, or anything connected to it, and went around condenscending to everyone who didn't agree with him 100%.

...sigh. Internet people.
