How did you get it to remember your password? I am running version 1.3.4 (134.22).
After reinstalling the iOS app and touching the Airport Time Capsule icon, a pop up asked me to enter my password in order to show detailed information about the device. After manually entering it, another pop up asked me whether I wanted to save it or not. For some reason, if I selected "no" the same pop up didn't show up the next time I manually inserted the password - I just had to remove and reinstall the app to get it to ask me again.

Sweet that worked. Thanks!

I wish they'd bring back the ability to monitor via snmp.

Hi dittman

I'm using Airport Utility 5.6.1 on Windows, and under "Advanced > Logging and Statistics" i'm able to enable or disable SNMP, i'm using a Time Capsule 4th gen on firmware 7.6.4.

lowfire.

Apple today released a new firmware update for all of its 802.11n Wi-Fi base stations, including the AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and AirPort Time Capsule. According to Apple's release notes, the update includes bug fixes and is designed to improve the stability and performance of the products.Apple has also released a 7.7.7 update for its 802.11ac Wi-Fi Base stations, including the latest AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule models. It fixes the same issues.

The firmware updates can be installed through the AirPort Utility app for iOS or OS X.

This works brilliantly I have to say. We have airport and three expresses throughout our house to extend wifi - I've noticed a stronget( now shows max strength ) all over the house including upstairs.

The real test was that I fell asleep listening to a you tube channel and I woke up this morning several hours in and it was still playing- before it would cut out or use my 4g data and quickly are up my allowance.

Looks a good update to me

So many whiners.... Never had a single issue with many AirPorts both at work and home. Much more better than other router like Netgear and DLink, maybe many users don't know how to setup AirPort/network correctly. Anyway updated to 7.7.7 without problem.
Maybe I was too hard...edited post

Anyone who had to switch settings from auto to local only switch back yet without any issues?

Mine was on link-local and i switched it to auto, and have had no problems. Got IPv6 working and scored a 19/20 after inputting Google's IPv6 server info. I don't think TWC has their own IPv6 servers going yet, which is my ISP.

Good to know, thanks! Maybe a little too soon to tell but looks like the update did fix those IPv6 issues.

Has anyone noticed any improvement (or detriment) in audio-related performance with 7.6.7 on the express?

I'm finding that AirPlay gets worse with every new hardware and software they release. I'm still angry about Apple about the jitter problems with some DAC's when they moved from the wall AirPort Express to the squared AirPort Express. I'm seriously considering a Sonos Connect to replace the AirPort Express connected to my stereo system.

Is there any reason you don't just keep using the previous gen AEX?
Reason I ask is, I have two of the modern (square N) versions for audio connections to analog devices around my house, and one of the previous generation (wall plug N) versions for optical output to DAC due to its reduced output jitter. I haven't noticed any performance difference between the devices or degradation of the network from using the old device, and you can find them on ebay very cheap.

Thanks very much! Didn't know that.

The jitter is just part of the problem. At the end of the day, AirPlay via AirPort Express is prone to dropouts. I could be in the same room as the AirPort Extreme/AirPort Express, DAC and still get drop outs. I've tolerated AirPlay because I was able to get a first-gen for cheap and use with my DAC but with summer arriving, I have time to do a bit of an upgrade to my stereo system so I may finally ditch AirPlay and just go with a Sonos Connect to eliminate dropouts completely.

Me too, but Apple insists on making toys not real networking equipment. Well, I guess I should say not real networking equipment for technical people, I guess they work fine for Moms and teenagers who don't need to know when they have problems.

*shrug*

I'm a network guy at work (cisco mostly), have run airports as base stations at home (don't use airplay though) since 2007 and have had zero issues.

they get rebooted for firmware updates, to move house or if the power goes out.

Me too, but I run them bridge mode. But they are a dark spot that I despise when I have problems. Unlike most, I have managed switches and firewalls. So I can normally work around any issues, but its a pain that is not necessary.

I have Cox Communications as an ISP with a SB6141 and would have issues with maintaining an Internet connection as well. I changed my DNS server address to the Google Public DNS and that fixed my intermittent connection issues.
I figured that out with the SB6141 about 2 months ago...Jumping to the Google DNS finally stopped all the random disconnects and it fixed the issue where it would rename my connected devices in Finder and make it where I would have to reboot to access them.

Is bridge mode better than "extend a wireless network"?
I don't use "extend a wireless network" as I only have one wireless access point (airport) that our laptops connect to so I am not sure what the difference is.

Bridge mode means that the wireless access point (airport) does not act on any of the connections. It just receives wireless connections and forwards the data to the ethernet port. No firewall, no DHCP server, no ARP resolution, no DNS lookup, etc. This does seem to work fine.

This update still doesn't seem to fix the iPv6 incompatibility with Cox Communications Internet.
Turning off the iPv6 was the only way to get the router from dropping/losing a signal. Now, it does it both on and off.

*sigh*

I think I'm going to the store today to get a Netgear Nighthawk.

Have you just switched from auto to local link only? I switched a few months ago and have yet to lose my wifi. Updated to 7.7.7 the other day and still have yet to drop wifi

Another product that has been over taken, replaced all my Airport' with Google's offering and never looked back.

The web is full of trouble reports on these, especially if actually try to use more than basic features :)
