fixed all three problems i was experiencing with my mbp:
- closed lid with external monitor didn't work after the graphics update
- resolution on external monitor (in dual monitor mode) was wrong
- screen not coming on after lid was opened from sleep

My MBP didn't seem to need the update. It's a 5 month old 2.6 GHz Santa Rosa (Merom). Boot Rom v. MBP31.0070.B05.
Does that seem right? I'm confused as to who should be getting the update here, considering posts like the following:

In case of the MB update it only applies to MB3,1 units, apparently:
Since all Penryn-MBs are MB4,1 it's an irrelevant update for us.

Installed the update on my 20" Aluminum 2.4GHz iMac and haven't noticed any changes, which is a good thing, since I wasn't having any issues before the update. 
I got the firmware update through Software Update
and installed it fine. I had to get the keyboard update from apple.com
maybe this is the reason
You guys that got the update, in disk utilities on the actual mac disk (identified by the manufacturers name) when you click info, does it say "guid partition table" or "guid partition scheme" under partition map scheme. I think the latter recieved the updates while the former do not. Just a theory so anyone who did or did not receive the update please reply thanks

macbook pro 17 issue after update

i found a irritating bug after the EFI update in my macbook pro 17
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB

after the update my machine seems snapier and running a little hotter but no problem at all is runnning games better til i found that my volume control is not working on the game .... then after exiting the game i tryied again outside in the os but nothing again .... the simbolic buton appears in my screen whit a proibited sign under the volume sign ... is this happening whit anyone ??? sorry bad english is not my native language !!!

I did not have an issue with my aluminum keyboard for my Mac Pro before the update. So, I just went through the motions and did the update regardless because I am an UPDATE JUNKIE!
Really? So why did they update it?
Come on, Apple, it's ultimately annoying that you can't use the keyboard on old machines during startup! I still have this messy old white keyboard just to fire up Linux on my iMac!
Installed without a glitch, but have no idea what it fixes?
Hopefully the first keystroke missing thing, since that is still a problem on my MacBook pro - even after applying the keyboard firmware update.

ps. Done another test after it dropped 5 points again, thn rebooted and did another test it even reached 3533 8)

So do I... I would damn have this upgrade soon since I am tired of hard boot because of black screen when reopening the lid...
I always installed all the updates the same hour they come out both at home and at work, never had any problem.
They do, that's what Software Update is for. You didn't need to download it manually as it didn't appear in Update. What else can they do apart from not present it to people who don't need it?

Only "issue" is that the fan seems to be on all the time. This is probably a good thing, since its probably keeping my macbook cooler.
Noticed 2 major changes:
1) Dashboard loads MUCH faster...This is not a placebo effect, or because I restarted my computer. My dashboard loading has dropped from about 25-30 secs to about 4-5 secs.
2) The "farting" sound, that seemed to be prevalent (I dont know how many others faced this, but it was a weird sound before I started playing music, or received mail, or something of the sort) has not happened. Hopefully it will stay that way even after restarting, etc.
3) Have not tested the flaky Wireless on the macbook yet, but will report on results as soon as I do.

It's a 2% difference. Not significant, but within the margin of error. Man. Use a bloody calculator. And learn to embed your images properly.
