I want to update for Airpods feature and then downgrade back to iOS 10 till another beta or GM. If I downgrade my iOS will Airpods lose the new features?
I believe the airpods stay updated, was listening to the Cult of Mac podcast and that's what Leander said. so should be all good. I'm on the fence so far about loading up my Gen 1 ipad pro 12.9 sooooo tempting,

I have been running the IOS11 Beta on my iPhone and iPad (Air 2).

Several bugs I found but nothing major, the Beta 2 seems better but still not perfect.

Battery life seems to be random, mine gets down to <20% and then seems to rapidly deplete.

Closing apps on the iPhone works fine until you get to the last opened app and this struggles to close, often reopening or not closing at all.
On the iPad some Apps refuse to show the close icon when you press them down, sometimes you have to close another app before closing the one you want.

Nothing major but its far from perfect.

- Would lose wired car output, car controls controlled phone, but sound came out internal speakers. Restart fixed
- Extremely erratic connection to Apple Watch, making OS updates hard and battery drain
- Taptic for button controls and Facebook likes fire at full speed with an audible metallic click
- The new blue bar for background location is extremely annoying given I have explicitly allowed apps to do this and it breaks scroll to top + many views
- Crashes App Store when searching Purchased apps on the third typed letter
- Had to re-enable all my keyboards

Add to that:
- Updating apps in the App Store often requires a restart for the process to work.

All bugs have been reported, after all that’s the purpose of betas (comment for the intended moaners).

Yeah, it seems like a good piece of software, for the most part. Once the bugs, I’ve come across, are ironed out I’ll be more than happy with it. The iPad functionality is super ace!

I don’t get any of the so-called lags and haptic issues on either my iPad Pro or iPhone 7. I do wonder if any ‘lagginess’ is down to older devices? Benchmarking shows this to be anything but slow!

Quick question... if i have ios11 PB1 can i install the DB watch OS4 ? or will it not connect ?

Only reason i ask is i updated early to ios 11 DB1 and the watch aswell but when i downgraded to 10.3.3 the watch didnt work and so had to go back to apple to be downgraded. Want to avoid the same happening again.

I have installed it on my secondary device which is an SE. I just started playing with it so just checking out all the new stuff. It's a little sluggish but not as bad as I thought it would be in an early Beta. I don't have it connected to my Watch though. Was there something in particular you wanted to know about other than the watch?

I haven't had a chance to read all the known bugs yet but this is weird looking.

This is why I would rather wait for more seasoned betas before jumping in. ;)

feedback assistant has never worked from my iphone 6

spent last 5 mins reporting wallpaper reverting to perspective mode changing to still mode is only temp solution

Thought I would get some ios11 feedback in via macrumours

forgot to mention whats the swipe immediately from 1 app to another could have used that earlier whilst running myskyapp beta andskystore player app though couldnt find a swipe function to switch from 1 sky app to another

Having participated in Apple beta games last year from iOS 10 PB3 onwards, I will sit this one out for three main reasons:

a) Betas are buggy by definition with variable amount of annoyances, but still;
b) Third party apps may act up and the developers will just tell you to stay out betas if you cannot handle occasional glitches (and they will be right saying so!);
c) I need all my iOS devices to be as reliable as possible, as they are used for work and I do not have any spare ones lying around for bug hunting.

I salute you, the brave ones, and hope your beta rides are smooth and not so bumpy! :)

It's a beta I know. But it's very buggy compared to other betas, I've been using beta SW for years on the iPhone with each launch of new major update of OS.
I've only installed it on my iPad Pro 9.7" and other early beats have been much more usable.

Just a heads up for people who wants to try it.

I had a similar problem with Feedback assistant app in iOS10 PB3 and was using the Apple site for bug reporting. It seems to be the suggested solution for now too:

Reporting it via Macrumors, in my previous experience, will just alert other potential beta enthusiasts away from it, but has a very slim chance of the actual bugs being fixed by Apple.

Maybe I don't use my phone as much as most of you, but my iPhone 6S works great with dev beta 2. Yes, the app switcher doesn't close apps very well, but that doesn't bother me as I don't have a manic desire to keep closing apps. Happy to let them fester there until a later beta solves the issue.

Battery life is good (i.e. no worse that iOS10) for me, but my main drain has always been FaceTime rather than Safari, and FT seems to use up the same amount of battery as always.

One of the coolest new features, although I've not had a chance to show it off as none of my friends have iOS11 yet, is being able to read QR codes from the stock camera app. I now have a WiFi QR code stuck to my router with details of my guest network. Works a treat!

I also like the new control centre, although at the moment the WiFi and Bluetooth "disconnect" feature isn't useful for me; I hope they bring back the toggle, even if it's via force touch.

I *don't* like what they're currently doing to the lock screen, notifications and the widgets screen. That's a mess right now.

My feedback app works fine, and it's being used :)

Enough of this sensible posting! Cue the moaning and outrage! o_O

Ok, as usual, I couldn't resist. I installed it on my iPad (leaving iPhone alone until further notice). Maybe I had low expectations, but iOS 11 is the shizzz. I'm really digging the drop n' drop and the new multi-tasking. And the keyboard. So much better accessing the alternate keys with a swipe down. I've already submitted one bug report, but overall this is turning out to be a huge leap forward (for the iPad at least).

How do you open an app in spilt screen if the app is not in the dock? I can’t find a way to do it. If the app isn’t in the dock I can’t open it in split screen.

Apple today released the first public beta of iOS 11 to its public beta testing group, allowing non-developers to download and test the update ahead of its fall release. iOS 11 has been available for developers since June 5, and the first public beta corresponds with the second developer beta.

Beta testers who have signed up for Apple's beta testing program will receive the iOS 11 beta update over-the-air after installing the proper certificate on an iOS device.

Those who want to join the beta testing program can sign up on Apple's beta testing website, which gives users access to iOS, macOS, and tvOS betas. Before installing a beta, make sure to create a full encrypted iTunes backup and be sure to install it on a secondary device because beta software is not stable and can include many bugs.

iOS 11 brings subtle design changes to the operating system, including a new Lock screen experience and a customizable, redesigned Control Center. Siri is smarter, has a more natural voice, and can do more, Messages features person-to-person Apple Pay, Notes has searchable handwriting and document scanning, and Music now lets you share playlists with your friends.

A new Files app improves file management on iOS devices, and for the iPad in particular, there's a new Dock, an App Switcher, and support for Drag and Drop, all of which vastly improves multitasking on the device. An entirely revamped App Store is coming in the update, photos and videos take up less space, iMessages can be stored in iCloud, and developers are getting new tools like ARKit for creating impressive new augmented reality apps and games.

For full details on all of the new features included in iOS 11, make sure to check out our iOS 11 roundup. iOS 11 will be available for developers and public testers for testing purposes for several months ahead of a planned fall release.

Very tempted, anyone know if I can backup 10.3.2 and go back to it with no loss of information?

Wise words. It is certainly not at a state that I'd use it for primary devices. Responsiveness is very poor, there are various bugs, although I've been a bit surprised at how well my other apps have worked so far.

The Beta version is very unstable and I would not recommend installing it just yet. I normally beta test all releases but this one caused too many issues needing constant reboots and resets. Same for High Sierra which crashed my mac regularly unlike previous beta releases.

PS

I know people will go ahead anyway but at their own peril and be prepared to roll back if you want a stable phone

I rolled back high Sierra too

Just downloaded IOS11 6hrs ago.

About the app switcher behavior, re: last open app which is panically hard to close on the beginning ... swiping it up to close and instantly touching the lower right side of the screen, close it.

Alternatively, using the left side screen also consistently (for me) closing of the app.

Btw, battery hit so far is normal like from 10.3.2.

Great experience so far. Not bad for a Classic Iphone6+.
