It may be too late, but I would do an encrypted backup of your current iPad to iTunes. Once iCloud backs up the 11.0 install I think you lose the 10.x one. I’m not 100% sure of that. That will at least give you a 10.x backup to restore to if you need to.

The 10.x will still be available in iCloud if you have the storage space.

15A5304i same as dev beta 2 update 1 version

Thanks dude, that's what I've got from the dev release.

Known bugs for me:
- Crackling speaker on occasion, when playing 'higher pitched sound' (on two devices)
- Control screen for Apple Music wrongly displays on the lock screen.
- Apple Music plays the same track repeatedly... No matter what I do!
- Some portrait to landscape menubar ghosting, i.e. when I turn the device the top bar remains on the side of the screen.
- Camera doesn't always open on the lock screen.
- Notification sounds play erratically at times.

That's just the main ones for you all to ponder over... (or b*tch about!) ;)

I thought I read that content blockers don’t work yet on iOS 11, and can confirm while they show up and are enabled, there are ads everywhere! Almost forgot how bad web advertisements were...

As an aside, running pretty good on iPad Pro 9.7. New keyboard will take some getting used to, Going to let it sit so it can index and do all its background nonsense.

I'll likely update my iPad. So long, 32-bit apps! (mainly the old classic Risk game)

Siri can't find my homekit light but it works fine in the home app. That being said it sounds a lot more natural.

Is there any reason to install the public beta on iPhone? I'm tempted to try out on my new 12.9 Pro but I'm leaving my iPhone as is.

Unless these betas at some point include grouping notifications by application (again) I probably hold off since the only ios device I currently own is my 5S and its my daily driver.

Anyone else find it annoying that the most useful shortcut to add to the pull up control centre is settings and you still can't add this? (At least I assume you can't from the videos I've seen)

Ok who is going to downgrade to 10.3.2 after updating to see if today's update fixes the inability to downgrade.
If you want to switch from iOS 11 beta to iOS 10
To switch from iOS beta 11 to iOS 10,1 you need to erase and restore your device. Then, if you have an archived backup,2 you can set up again from that backup. Here’s how:

  1. Check that you have the latest version of iTunes.
  2. Download the iOS 10.3.3 Beta Restore Image for your device.
  3. Connect your device to your computer, then put your device in recovery mode with these instructions:
    • For iPhone 6s and earlier, iPad, or iPod touch: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. Don’t release the buttons when you see the Apple logo. Continue to hold both buttons until you see the recovery mode screen.
    • For iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons at the same time. Don’t release the buttons when you see the Apple logo. Continue to hold both buttons until you see the recovery mode screen.
  4. When asked, Option-click (Mac) or Alt-click (PC) the Restore option.
  5. Select the iOS Beta Restore Image that you downloaded. To erase your device and install iOS 10, click Restore.

The video demonstration of Notes in iOS 11 seems to allude to the fact that the Apple Pencil will work with an iPhone. Could this be possible, or was it just poorly written copy?

Everyone who's saying stuff like this, is it really that much worse than usual? What are the biggest issues you've had? Everyone's being so vague.
Speaking from personal experience, it's definitely been the buggiest first beta I've tried. Ignoring the usual issues to be expected from first betas these are some of the issues I've had:

  • General lagginess - this is to be expected, but it's very noticeable, there's no immediate response from the time you press something to an action occurring. It would take a couple of seconds for something to occur and can appear to be unresponsive. This includes launching stock apps and swiping up for Control Center.
  • Annoying blue bar frequently appearing on top of screen saying "[App] is using your location"
  • intermittent issues with the App Store not downloading updates when you click to update an app.
  • App notification badges showing incorrect notification numbers - not updating correctly, especially stock Mail app.
  • Wifi connectivity issues
  • Phone regularly getting very hot and uncomfortable to use with no activity

This was with the first beta release. Since the second update the issues are a lot less prominent so most shouldn't experience those issues to the same degree as the first beta.

The new HEIF format is interesting, but there's a huge battery hit since it's Betas don't get optimized for power until very late. Outside of that there really isn't much on iPhone to justify the risk on a daily driver.

As for iPad. I got in right away because this truly is a game changer. Multitasking and the many other changers really do improve a techies workflow. But it's a confusing mess for those who are unaware of the changes or who were satisfied with the "big ole iPhone" OS that it's been running since day 1.

And it didn't ask me if i want to restore a backup which is bad.

Privacy Pro still works for me.

I want to update for Airpods feature and then downgrade back to iOS 10 till another beta or GM. If I downgrade my iOS will Airpods lose the new features?

So I can degrade from iOS 11 without losing all of my 333GB of media ?

I've been able to revert since iOS 10 with developer betas.
