So, 14.1 is going to be for the new devices next month, as if there was anything new for the current devices we’d have a beta of that.

When will Homepod support Spotify? I only gave in and bought a Homepod because I thought support was coming in iOS14 and guess what... nothing.

Spotify needs to get their app’s iOS 14 update submitted to the App Store (if they haven’t already), it needs to go through Apple’s review process, and you need to download the app update once it rolls out. Plus make sure your HomePod is updated. Then it’ll theoretically work.

Yeah, because iOS 14 has felt way better than iOS13 since the first beta IMHO

I guess I am missing your point. You stated you hope 14.2 runs better then 14.0. In what ways are you not finding 14.0 runs well?

Sorry, I must have expressed myself incorrectly. I took sides with you agreeing on the matter. For me iOS 13 was a nightmare, beta or stable version. I remember really bad battery draining at the early stages of iOS 13 and really bad heating. I adopted the beta for iOS 14 the moment it aired. I couldn't be happier, its faster than iOS 13, the features have prevented me from rolling back and overall I love it.

Are we going to be able to long-press app icons in the App Suggestions widget to get to the app’s shortcuts?

14.1 is specifically built for the next iPhones. The next iPhones are rumored to be out in the second or third week in October. We are only 2 weeks from October. It would be completely pointless for them to start testing 14.1, if it’s only meant for the new iPhones, and if it likely is already ready to go.
Meanwhile, 14.2 most likely won’t be launched until November or December, so starting beta testing now makes complete sense. I wouldn’t be surprised if 14.2 is the operating system that launches Apple fitness+ and the Apple1 bundles.

There hasn't been an update to the Homepod, surely that will need to go to version 14 before it works?
It's still 13.4.8.

The latest beta of the HomePod software has been labeled as 14.1 so whenever we see iOS 14.1, we will probably see the HomePod update too. However with Apple jumping straight to 14.2 in this beta cycle, who knows when that might be.

9to5mac.com said something about this not being available over the air? I may not understand what they are saying.

For now, the iOS 14.2 update is available exclusively through the Apple Developer portal, so those who prefer to install new versions of iOS through the Over-The-Air system will have to wait a bit longer.

Ah. Thanks. I can quit refreshing. :)

I would not recommend updating directly via direct download. Failed twice on iPad and once on iPhone and not my iPhone is messed up. Trying to restore. But everything is wiped and I will try and see if I can fix this mess. OTA is a lot better. Probably the reason for no OTA. Buggy install that messed things up. Be patient. Sad that mine iPhone is screwed up. Hopefully I can fix it.

Phone is bricked now. Trying to get something working.
