I'm having some weird issues, like the actual images not appearing in stacks anymore, just the default thumbs. And everything feels sluggish -- weird.
Anyone else notice that this update seems to be utilizing less RAM?
It looks like, from what I have running, around half a gig less.
Maybe 10.5.1 made Leopard less of a RAM hog?
/if this has been mentioned before, my apologies. I didn't have time to read through all of the 21 pages of comments 🙂

the bugs with this configuration, again i think probably 's top selling pro config make the system unusable for almost anything.like i said there are thousands of similar screenshots on the net but just so you get an idea of what i mean look at

these little lines are shown all over the display, constantly with no way to fix it.the colors and shapes also appear covering up everything on screen under them continuously while using leopard. if it happened just once in a while or was not common and some oddity or rare bug that'd be one thing. But its not. if put leopard on a mac pro with the most popular graphics card they sell out of the 3 options they offer, they would have seen this bug.
which even fuels my frustration further because there is NO doubt that they saw this major bug and still went ahead and sold the OS at retail and up until right this moment they havent even officially said it exists.
Hi-
I was getting kernel panics to the point where my machine wouldn't boot after installing 10.5.1. It was related to the VPN. I followed the tutorial here, uninstalling the VPN, and it worked. I have a MBP 15" CD 2 GhZ with 1 gigabyte of RAM.
Hmmmm...![]()
Check out the reply I got from Bickety regarding the same problem. It is post #376 in this same thread. It worked like a charm for me.
Good luck.
Joe
I don't know why, but when I installed 10.5.1, my MBP rebooted, went to the gray apple logo, rebooted, went to the gray apple logo, rebooted, went to the gray apple logo, rebooted, etc etc etc for two hours non-stop.
After an excrutiating night, I finally had to do a clean erase and install. Bleh!
yes me too!!!
You sat there and let it reboot over and over for 2 hours. Hmm.🙄
To save screenshots to a file:
Command+Shift+3 - saves entire screen
Command+Shift+4 - gives you a selection cursor so you can grab any portion of the screen
To save to the clipboard, just add in the Option key to the above keystrokes. You can then paste into any program.
I hate when people keeps complaining about the menu bar and the Dock. PLEASE... This is how it is guys, Panther brought the exposé effect, some people use it and some don't it also brought the dashboard, one feature that I personally don't hate but not use. it was all part of Panther, the new OS X. Then Tiger Brings Spotlight and I don't know what else... crap for some and godies for others... this time Leopard brings a lots of improvemnets inside and they just change a couple of things for eye candy only... the magic it's inside, and you will know it when out of this world apps start popping around next year. then you will love Leopard as much you love Tiger now. Manu bar and new Dock are here to stay. like or not. and still kick Vista A5S all the way!
Haha!
I have wondered about people who leave their Macs on for weeks/months at a time, and I wonder - why?
Yes some people are running servers, but there just seems to be almost an obsession with not wanting to reboot their Mac.
Hi,
I downloaded the 10.5.1 Update today in class over WiFi with no problems. However, when I went to restart, it failed to install the 10.5.1 patch and said that I need to contact the manufacturer.
Has anyone else experienced this? Or does anyone know of a solution? Or should I just wait and try to call AppleCare tomorrow?
Thanks for your help everyone ... Long live Apple!

Most studios don't turn anything off. Why?
Drastic temp changes are often one the main culprits of computer nastiness.
The Mac is my main tool that helps make my mortgage.
And all four of my Macs run 24/7/365.
Restarts only happen when required (eg: software updates) or on the rare occasion that something just feels flaky.
Otherwise, my Macs seem happier when running.
Works for me, tho YMMV.
no new stack Icons... but you can use this. It's a very good idea. It gives you what looks like bins for your stacks i.e. application bin or download bin but still shows you what's inside that bin.

Just download the icons and move them into the specific stack. They've been modified using the touch command to always be on top.
Enjoy,
