All apps are working fine...
but on my iPhone X (GSM version), GPS location is not as accurate as before... it’s slower to lock (when it locks) and location jumps a lot...
All is fine on my iPhone 6 and 6s Plus

Yup - know issue is that GPS is often screwed with the iOS 12 betas.

I noticed an error. At times when I read an iMessage from a particular user the top left arrow goes missing so I can’t get to other users and their messages until I quit the message app!

Apple this afternoon released the first public beta of iOS 12 to its public beta testing group, giving non-developers a chance to test the software ahead of its upcoming fall release. The first public beta of iOS 12 should correspond to the second developer beta, which was released last week.

Beta testers who have signed up for Apple's beta testing program will receive the iOS 12 beta update over-the-air after installing the proper certificate on an iOS device.

Those who want to join the beta testing program can sign up on Apple's beta testing website, which gives users access to iOS, macOS, and tvOS betas. Before installing a beta, make sure to create a full encrypted iTunes backup or an iCloud backup and be sure to install iOS 12 on a secondary device because beta software is not always stable and can include bugs.

iOS 12 is a significant update to the iOS operating system, introducing Group FaceTime, local multiplayer shared AR experiences, new Animoji, and a Memoji feature that's designed to let you create a personalized Animoji that looks just like you.

Animoji, stickers, text, and more can be used in FaceTime and the Messages app, and there's a new Screen Time feature to help customers understand and manage the amount of time they're spending on their iOS devices. New Do Not Disturb features make it easier to manage notifications, as do interactive notification options and notification grouping.

Siri has been improved in iOS 12 with Siri Shortcuts, which is designed to allow Siri to work with any app, and Siri is also smarter and able to provide info on motorsports, food, and celebrities.

Under-the-hood improvements to iOS 12 will make everyday tasks on the iPhone and iPad faster and more responsive, with the camera launching up to 70 percent faster and the keyboard showing up to 50 percent faster.

iOS 12 will be available to developers and public beta testers as a beta for several months to allow Apple to work out kinks and bugs. The update will see a launch this fall.

I'm really liking this iOS release so far. CarPlay and Siri integration seem improved, digging the auto update feature, dark mode music controller on the lock screen, and even the measure app is nice. I'm not seeing the disparity in GPS and my battery hasn't emptied itself under regular use conditions. Per normal operating procedures for this community, I know I should be finding something negative to say and furiously type up a post about how horrible this has been, but I think they're set to launch a great OS.

<snip>
Measure app should be there when install the OS. I had to find it by going through all my folders, but it's there... for some reason it put it in a my "fun" folder LOL but it was there.
Yes, there’s a bug where the measure app gets stuffed away into a folder, surely not the intended action.

Be sure to report the bug! :)

Mine is still stuck on "update requested" after a day and several soft/hard reset. Tried network reset as well but it's just not working.

Any suggestions?

iPhone X on t-mobile.

Not seeing any issues with gps with Apple maps or google maps.

Google maps I have my navigation data downloaded. Not sure if that makes a difference.

On my Air2, the switching placement of the [emoji key] and [?123 key]s is annoying...
Noticed in some iPhone apps, 11 used older iPhone, while 12 uses iPhoneX layout... resulting in lots of black space when 2X’d on the iPad.

Switch Shortcuts app only available in the fall. You can make some in the Siri app but they are based on what you just did.

Yeah I see that now after installing. Thanks for letting me know even though I didn't see it in time. Can't wait until they release the full version of it, should enable some pretty sweet automation of things going forward.

SE here. Going from 10.3 straight to 12.

Installed without any problems.

Running smoothly.

GPS not accurate, by cca 10m.

Like it overall but already hate few things:

- don't like having to slide down from the top for bigger music control, especially with the phone locked.
- Messages: how many of you do actually use Camera more often than Photos to insert a picture into the message. I don't know anybody who does that. Most people would go to the Photos first. I'd definitely swap these two icons. And why does it make me see the stickers straight away I don't know. They could be hidden behind that AppStore icon from the beginning.
- the fade out thingy when unlocking the phone is just plain ugly
- and please please tell me how do I find most recent apps in the particular category? Don't tell me it can't be done.

what was the accuracy on your SE before the upgrade? I remember that the best I would get outdoors on my iPhone 6 our 6s was 5 meters (I'm still getting this with 12 beta on these devices)... I guess you should get the same on your SE.
I'm pretty sure this will be fixed in the next few betas... this is an issue we had before in one of the old beta (iOS 9 or 10... I don't remember exactly)... and this was fixed before the release.

the current music control in the control center has been like that since iOS 11. I don't think it will change anytime soon.

for messages and photos library, I rarely use the camera directly... I'm glad they added the Photos "sticker" to the sticker row now... this give you a direct access to your photos. Yes it would be better to swap the camera and photos... but at least it's better now.

you can select "reduce animations" if you don't like all the visual effects.

recent apps in the app store? yes that's missing...

Downloaded iOS 12 on my iPhone X. Memoji was fun but not too accurate. CarPlay worked fine on my MBZ GLS 450. No Waze or Google Maps yet.

Yeah, everything is very fast for me on my X. The 2 major issues of note for me, is GPS is very inaccurate, and I seem to be getting a little more battery drain. But, yeah, this device is smoother and faster than ever.

do you have an iPhone X on Verizon or bought an unlocked iPhone X in the USA (which would get you the model with CDMA)... it looks like that only GSM devices might be affected

I do have an unlocked iPhone X bought from the Apple Store. I will ask around re: GSM devices/GPS accuracy.
PS/disclamier: Just to clarify, I tested the standalone apps, not CarPlay. I do not have CarPlay.

can you load a GPS app that can show the horizontal accuracy... and also tell us how fast you are getting the best accuracy when outdoors?
I'm using GPS Diagnostic (maybe paid) app on my iPhone X for that...
"GPS Status -" is a free option

I commend you for making this move. I have been very reluctant to install iOS 11 on my SE. It's still sitting on 10.3.3 (even though it's not my daily driver). I may pick up a 6s on the cheap and install the PB to try out. I definitely do not want to test it out on my X.
