Did anyone download the public beta to try out Google Maps or Waze in CarPlay? If so, can you please share your experience, I'd appreciate it!

All apps are working fine...
but on my iPhone X (GSM version), GPS location is not as accurate as before... it’s slower to lock (when it locks) and location jumps a lot...
All is fine on my iPhone 6 and 6s Plus

For what it’s worth... (not much)

I now download Public BETAs as a matter of course. I don't see many issue with it. I've never had a bricked iPhone. On occasion I may have an app that doesn't work right and then I remember its likely due to the BETA. Battery is sometimes an issue, but I just carry a spare USB block if I know I’m going to be out all day. Sometimes the OS can be a tad clunky and jumpy but all in all, if you’re on these forums then I’d say you’re geeky enough to:

1) be able to download the BETA in the first place:

2) be interested enough to get a peek at new features:

3) in a worst case can jump back to iOS 11.

Not sure why I posted. But hey BETAs are there to play with new features, so download and play. Just don’t complain if they don’t work – that’s the point!
Your last statement is wrong. You are supposed to complain if the beta doesn't work but you're supposed to do it properly by reporting the bug. The point of the beta is to get a lot of people using it under different use cases and see what might break. Report your bugs!

Anyone else unable to install the Measure app? I can find it in the UK App Store but it refuses to download for me.

You may already have it - take a good look at any app groups that you have as my Measure app with the developers beta 1 was buried in an "Education" group that I had previously created. ???

animations seem so much more fluid and smooth on my X. They feel sped up too. everything feels faster to me.

I used to go though the beta pain for the cool new features. But this OS release and the last one there hasnt been anything I think worth going though the "battery dead by lunch time glitchy hell" over.

Aye. but you know what i meant. Complain to Apple and whoever else has influences. But not us lot on here complaining the new BETA killed Facebook.. :)

Yes you can but they haven’t released Watch OS 5 Public Beta yet
They won't release a Public Beta for WatchOS... you have to wait for the final or have a dev account to test WatchOS

Measure app should be there when install the OS. I had to find it by going through all my folders, but it's there... for some reason it put it in a my "fun" folder LOL but it was there.

Like a few others, I’ve not had a good experience with public betas with iOS 11 (surprise!) so I’m sitting this one out.

Does anyone know of any really good ‘everyday’ videos of iOS in use?

I.e. just a (mostly) unedited 10-16 min screen cap of its features so I can see it in action.

I’ve only been able to find over edited versions so far (ie you get a cut about every 3 seconds).

iOS 12 beta on an iPhone 6s is nothing spectacular on the outside. Overall a smooth experience, battery runs ok. A few neat features, other than that its quite 11.4.1 like.

iOS12b1 didn't fix my iCloud sync on my phone :(
Didn't really expect it either, just hoped.
Guess I'll have to live with it on that phone.
And if anyone wonders, the matter have been taken to highest level of the seniors and engineers.
All tests have been done.
They have no further ideas, they don't know.

I'm just happy I have my NAS to sync my calendars through when Apple fail.

Except that, iOS12 is speedy :)

Anyone else have problems with the iPhoneX and the Memoji? I use it for 5 minutes and my phone gets so hot that it powers down. I also have noticed a lot of crashes overall. I have an iPhone 8 that I have the beta on as well and the iOS12 is buggy with screen time and a few other things but nothing that causes my phone to crash on a regular basis as the beta does on my iPhoneX... I may backup again, wipe it and try again as I have not seen others talk about the overheating issue.

I had to restart my phone to enable text message forwarding on my macs. Okay now.

Tried CarPlay last night on my '17 Honda Civic si. Worked but not well. few connectivity problems, but resolved by disconnecting and then reconnecting the phone. music worked half of the time. Play and pause didn't function either on the touch screen in car or on the phone. Had to unplug and replug the phone in to get music to play. This happened in both spotify and apple music apps.

Google maps was not available at the time of testing.

Just to confirm, Google Maps and Waze doesn't need an update? It just works fine in Carplay within iOS 12 public beta?

GPS seems to be working fine with Strava which I use a lot for tracking bike rides and walks.

Noticed one quirk: If you use Smart invert mode when you swipe an app upwards out of the way to return to the home screen the screen dims for a moment, then goes to full brightness after. I realize the effect they are trying to achieve but it actually takes time to display the dimming, then segue to full brightness. Nobody else finds that annoying?

I notice it doesn't do this in non-smart invert mode.
