You enable it per Pod, which is nice but potentially confusing...

ETA: I'm no longer thinking this is the case, after a couple more updates it looks like a setting that can be set globally

Very disappointed to find out that the two new British Siri voices are not working on my OG HomePod ☹️

Edit: It fixed itself. It probably just hadn't downloaded the new voices.

The upgrade process for HomePods is... not good. Slow and the app is uninformative.

FYI - it can take about 5 minutes from the second time a HomePod reboots before it's actually up and running on 17.

I was hoping that HomePod 17 software would finally solve my Dolby Atmos issue but it didn't.
Since 16.2, if I set my 2018 HomePods as audio output on my 2022 Apple TV I don not get Dolby Atmos Sound when available. The only way to achieve this is to set the audio output to TV speakers and then select HomePods as temporary audio output :(

Instead of say opening Amazon Music on your iPhone and AirPlaying the music to your HomePod, you can ask your HomePod to "play from Amazon Music" and it will do the same thing.
Doesn’t seem to work with BBC Sounds. Does that app need to be updated? Or just a bug with the feature?

Any feedback on bass levels?

I've only updated my minis so far...
@smithrh, tested with Bassnectar’s Upside Down, Thursty and Bass Head, plus Pepper’s new Stay High single on OG HomePods with just installed HomePod OS 17.0. Bass is crisp, full, lush and deep to my ears. Do you have a reference track to gauge bass?

I don't; usually it's so obvious that the base is there - or missing - I haven't needed one.

Thanks!

Does this software update fix the lag when using as an external speaker for Mac.

Sorry...salty. Really wanted a pair of these to work as external speakers for the Mac without a massive audio delay.

have to restart my iphone to see the update

seems “Siri” command is not included in the update summary, is this country specific?

It’s not good.

Noticed a clear difference as soon as mine updated. The sound signature/profile has definitely changed again at least for the OG’s which is what i’ve got.

Getting annoyed this is becoming such a regular occurrence with these updates.

Edit: It’s not only me who’s noticed it either - https://reddit.com/r/HomePod/s/JAtZ6hdiQP

I wish you can just tell Siri to stop when an alarm goes off instead of having to press the HomePod. Google home does it.

Since updating my devices, Siri doesn't work at all. Just fails to get a response on anything. All my iOS 16 devices still work.

Something in this update hosed both my big and mini HomePods. Neither will accept commands to control lights or play music… Siri just says it’s taking too long and gives up. AirPlay still works, so this is weird
