Has NO ONE tried the new dialogue enhance feature yet on the HomePods 2nd Gen stereo pair? I wanna know how good/bad it is because if it's GOOD good, I'm upgrading my OG pair.

It´s extremely good, but keep in mind that according to my testing, dialogue with the OG Homepods and the Apple TV also seems louder after the update to OS 17 (although not as loud as the second gen homepods with this feature enabled, of course).

Thanks! I almost pulled the trigger on the Sonos beam because I couldn't find anyone online who has tried the new feature yet. You're literally the first one to confirm - and you can compare it with an OG pair as well! I'm glad I finally joined this forum.

Device settings is reporting it as TVOS16.6

Within the "listen for hey Siri" tab, only are listed all my Homepods and I can toggle them on or off individually for Siri use. Nothing else. Maybe it´s only available for U.S English, I´m from Spain.
Yup. Same for me. No option to change it from ‘Hey Siri’.

In fact, even in the main IPhone ‘Siri and Search’ Options, it still says ‘Hey Siri’ with no option to change. Is this a region issue maybe?

Something I noticed today watching the Zollotech video is Apple still believes that Siri should activate if anyone says "Siri". I wish they would come up with a way to make it to a unique voice, like Face ID for voice or something. I don't need other people activating my Siri all the time.

Started working for me now. Guess Apple fixed it server side.
Some constructive criticism/friendly advice. You might want to edit your original post to clarify that it's now working. I read your post and said, "Whoah! I'm definitely not going to update yet." It wasn't until several minutes later that I got to Page 4 of the comments and saw your happy update. :)

I don't understand what the "airplay session from HomePod" feature is? 🤔. Anyone care to explain?
You can tell your HomePod to AirPlay music from an app on your phone if it isn't natively supported the way Apple Music is.

My Home App has "Software Update" turned off — and yet the HomePods update automatically anyway. This happened today, as well as with some 16.x updates. Do others have this same issue?

I have a Sonos Beam and a pair of OG HomePods on different Apple TV’s right now. Both are excellent for voice audio. I have absolutely no problems hearing dialog without using closed captioning, which I usually have turned on because I don’t have the greatest hearing.

There is one annoying bug with the Sonos Beam, which is set up with an LG C2 and Apple TV using eARC. The bug is that the volume goes to zero frequently after turning off the TV. There is a weird workaround to prevent it. You have to go into the Sonos app and change a whole bunch of settings and then change them back. Then the bug goes away until you update the firmware or you get a power failure or turn the Beam off. The bug returns and then you have to do the workaround again. Note that I do not have a Sonos subwoofer of either type, but the bass is quite good anyway. One thing to consider is that the Sonos Beam only works on a 2.4GHz wifi network or wired Ethernet.

If you already have a pair of OG HomePods, just use that. It works well. HomePodOS seems to have fixed the one noticeable problem I had with them. Whenever I started a video/movie/etc the left HomePod would kick in before the right HomePod. They are perfectly synced but there’s a second or two where the audio is only playing out of one HomePod. But HomePodOS 17 seems to have fixed that and both HomePods start playing at the same time. Neither bug I mentioned is all that bad, but the Sonos one is a bit more annoying since I don’t have to fix the HomePod bug.

For “Siri” to work, you need to toggle it on in Home app settings.

I have years of built up habits of mindlessly saying “Hey Siri” while going about my day at home. I’ve never liked having to say the “Hey” part because that’s not how I speak with a person. Now that the day is here that I don’t have to say it, it’s going to take a while to unlearn the habit.

I had to do this twice for some reason. I toggled it and later it changed itself back and I had to toggle it again.

In this menu, only the Homepods are appearing to me (with the toggles). I suspect this is not working with other languages besides English.

Does this software update fix the lag when using as an external speaker for Mac.

Sorry...salty. Really wanted a pair of these to work as external speakers for the Mac without a massive audio delay.
It has never worked wel using them on my macbook pro. Lots of brake ups and stutters especially with multiple sounds or when you click something when playing music.. only works well with apple tv its a shame….. it doesn’t just work… disappointed in apple with this stereo pair is even worse.. since i updated from one to two

Huge (as in 3-seconds, at least) lag when AirPlaying audio from YouTube on my M1 MacBook Air. It wasn't this bad/long under 16.x.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it's just a temporary hiccup.

when I catch myself saying hey siri, I force myself to repeat the request with just Siri. I’ve been wanting this for a while but like you it’s been a very long time and I need to unlearn the habit.

Yes it does, but it does not support back-to-back requests like iOS 17.
What I'm running into. All indications are that it should. Apple support tried to trouble shoot, but came up empty and chalked it up to being a bug. Who knows. I'd like it there just as much as on phone, which it does work on.
