It does not as far as I can tell. I just updated 2 of my HomePod minis and they are not responding to "Siri". I need to say "Hey Siri".
This would be a big bonus for me. If I can get the HomePod to respond only to hey Siri and the iPad to respond to Siri then I would not have the HomePod answering when I don’t want it to because it can’t do what I ask of it, but the iPad can. Can’t wait to try this out.

Something in this update hosed both my big and mini HomePods. Neither will accept commands to control lights or play music… Siri just says it’s taking too long and gives up. AirPlay still works, so this is weird
Yep, same here. And no longer works on my iPhone I updated, too. But all my iOS 16 devices still invoke Siri successfully.

*edit* now working.

Just updated my mini. It does support it, but it wasn’t enabled by default. I had to turn it on in the Home app.

My Home app only shows "Hey Siri" to me, not "Siri". Iphone SE 2020 updated to 17.0, as well as the Homepods. Any ideas?

You have to turn it on. Form the Home app main screen, tap the circle with the 3 dots in the upper right corner.
Go to Home Settings. Then scroll down to Listen For Hey Siri, then change the setting to "Listen for Siri or Hey Siri"

When paired with a device running iOS 17 or iPadOS 17

How do you paid a device to a HomePod? I have tried requesting an audiobook to play and it does work but from my phone. I want t to pull it from my sons iPad but no idea how. Have even set him as the primary user on the HomePod.

Did you update your phone today as well? Could it still be doing some indexing and stuff?

After updating, I cannot use siri. No playlists, timers, nothing. She just says it's taking a little too long. She say's "on it" after a command, then "working on it" but nothing happens.

I have reset the HomePod, I have removed and added it back, unplugged it. Nothing helps.

The HomePods don’t use the phone to play music if you do a direct request with Siri— it pulls data directly from the network

Yup same thing here!

Siri isn’t working for me as well on HomePod or Apple TV’s after updating. Ugh…

Well im glad mine for some reason took forever to find the update and never actually installed. Going to keep it at 16.6 until more people say it’s working well. No need to hose up these things for very little improvement.

Does this fix volume control with a stereo pair + ATV that the last update broke? Cus that's been a HUGE pain point for me (and I'm still digging through replies so ... here's hoping the answer is buried in there, but I'm probably going to miss it)

Update for OG Homepods finally showed up at about 1:55 pm Pacific time here. Was trying to force it to see the 17.0 update, restarted all HomePods, iPhone, iPad, router, restarted phone again - HomePod update 17.0 finally showed up.

I was able to verify it will work with shorter 'Siri' command using instructions provided (have to turn that on via Home > ..., etc). Doesn't appear consecutive voice commands will work as it does on the iPhone & iPad. Was anyone able to get the OG HomePods (2018) working for consecutive commands?

Are HomePods supposed to take over two hours to update? I set off an update about two hours ago and it took over an hour just to download and now over an hour to install. They’re still installing. I have four HomePods, two minis and two OG’s. The minis are done but the OG’s continue to install and install and install.

Within the "listen for hey Siri" tab, only are listed all my Homepods and I can toggle them on or off individually for Siri use. Nothing else. Maybe it´s only available for U.S English, I´m from Spain.

Will not upgrade; turned off auto update on my OG HomePods-3 pairs-after the last 16 point X update caused an endless 'configuring" loop. Took me days of unplugging/plugging, configuring, etc. A plague on HomePod OS.

Has NO ONE tried the new dialogue enhance feature yet on the HomePods 2nd Gen stereo pair? I wanna know how good/bad it is because if it's GOOD good, I'm upgrading my OG pair.
