Darn it, doesn't fix my OCD pet peeve where the Notification Center pull down effect is different for the home screen than it is within apps, where it is improved.

RELEASE NOTES ANYBODY ANYWHERE ????
Ooh, Please wake me up when this industry gets managed by people that can perform elementary communication in its most rudimentary form.
Which bugs were patched that did not exist...and when/why (not) ?
(GM remained unchanged from pub release => then why a .02 bugfix release ???)

After being bitten by the iOS 10 brick update and after last years iOS 9.0.1 update that removes phone features from iPhone, I'm hesitant to update to this until I get the all clear from someone.

I just got the iPhone 7 to replace my S7E. I had terrible battery life and the phone lagged at such weird times. While I think the hardware was probably better, iOS just kills it in the software department and close integration with the hardware. The S7E was my first Android device and I was a bit disappointed. I'm really happy to be back on iOS. And iMessage.

Guy at work just got the S7 Edge to replace his LG banana phone. After having it for a week, and playing with my iPhone 7 Plus, he's regretting purchasing it. For the same reasons as you, plus he's had issues with GPS not locking on. Had it replaced once already but the issue is still there. He admits he was taken in by the gorgeous screen and bright colors, but that love affair soon wore off when he had to actually start using his phone.

I didn't read one single commend. With that said, we all should be waiting a week to do this update, because that was the advice some poster when 10.01 was released and it was bricking phones. So, if we don't all update, how will we know it's safe?

Ok, I know, a little over board, but some of these people who tell others how to run their devices is just a bit ridiculous, I mean, we already have Apple telling us how to use it, why do I need some JOE off the street telling me.

The Notes app has been broken for a few days now. Hope this fixes that.

(I launch it. It shows up. Within a few seconds it crashes. I suspect my data on iCloud might be corrupted or something...)

This happened to me after editing a note. The "fix" was to update the same note on another device.

I filed a bug with Apple which was closed as a duplicate of an existing bug, so Apple knows about it, but apparently it's not that high a priority.

I think it is hit or miss and probably a carrier update issue. So far I have not noticed it using an AT&T SIM in a Verizon model (i.e. with the Qualcomm modem), but oddly some Verizon users are reporting issues.

Yeah I'm on Verizon and it happens several times per day. Just updated to this so we'll see if it's fixed.

Looks like you're the first hater here, but you already knew that.

In other news, my Note5's headphone jack works flawlessly.

No pairing issues, no sound drops, etc.

Frak bluetooth.

I'd rather deal with a wire than with intermittent, random silences.
I'm quiet impressed.

That was fixed in the T-Mobile 25.2 carrier settings update :)

Yeah for you lucky guys on Tmobile. No fix for any of the other carriers, I've seen complaints on Sprint, ATT and Verizon. Hopefully we get something soon.

So it's not just me? I've had a case open with Apple concerning connection drops w/ AT&T. They occur randomly throughout the day. Right now I've got a Genius Bar appt. for tomorrow (assuming it's hardware) and was planning to visit AT&T for a new SIM card this afternoon.

When it drops, it always follows the same pattern:
- start some data action (app download, FB feed refresh, etc.)
- get 5 bars w/ AT&T and no LTE icon.
- get No Service
- wait 3-6 seconds
- service gets restored
You can see these (in order top to bottom) in the image I posted.

I've seen this with both 10.0.1 and 10.1 beta 1. I was hopeful the new AT&T carrier settings would help but they didn't.
I'd say this happens about 5 times a day.

With my 7+ on Verizon I get no service, but not for seconds, it lasts for several minutes.

Does this update fix the issue where people who don't have an iPhone constantly bring up issues they don't really have in online forums?

I believe it only addresses the issue of someone complaining about someone else complaining.

Is this with the new update? Still get No Service? I know there are threads already on this.

Same things they always say. Lies.

iOS gets released to hundreds of millions of people and you're bound to find bugs. This is an absolute in the software industry: More people using your software equals more bugs found. Apple patches them (like they do every year) in a timely manner and life goes on.

When Google releases a new version of Android the adoption rates are abysmal. So it appears that new Android releases have fewer bugs when the real issue is there's not enough people using it to actually build up a database of issues. If you actually looked at the number of issues discovered over a period of one year you'd see that Android has just as many as iOS. The difference is the complete cluster**** that is the Android update model which means it's a crapshoot when you get these fixes.

By the time 3 months goes by iOS 10 will have received several updates and fixes. If you're on Android you're lucky if your phone even gets Nougat after 3 months.

"They" Why does there have to be a "they"? I use both Android and Apple and love them both, I'd say the majority of users on here are the same. Maybe if "we" moved away from this us versus them mentality we could move on to some good conversation, instead of always being stuck in this quagmire of insults and fighting over what corporations which only care about your money do.

Enjoy your phone!!

Tell me how it goes. Last time (a week ago) I updated my phone, I couldn't use it for a few hours, and was worried I lost everything.

Fool me once...

Fool you once? It sounds like you've been fooled more than that if an update going bad causes you to lose "everything". Why do you not use iCloud and or local backups? Why do people think these devices are magical and will never lose anything? People don't say backup just for the fun of it, if you value anything you have on your phone and you don't back it up you can't blame anyone except you for that.

Wonder if this fixes the issue with not being able to get 4G on Three in the UK.

Three contacted me about this problem and said the following.

Hi Steven

Thanks for your email.

I'm really sorry that your iPhone 7 struggles to connect to 4G. I understand how frustrated you must be by this, especially as you're able to connect to 4G on your iPhone 6s. I'll do all I can to help with this.

We've been made aware of an issue that's affecting a number of customers using the iPhone, where they can't connect to 4G. In most instances, we've found that if you remove your SIM, and then reinsert the SIM, then restart the handset, this has been found to fix the problem. Please give this a go and let's see how you get on.

You have verizon? Same is happening to me.

Yep, I'm disappointed that nothing has even been mentioned by Apple or Verizon. If you call them, they both are completely clueless about the situation. It's a serious issue, I have a $1k smartphone which can't make or receive calls.

Both my iPhone 6S Plus and iPad Air 2 wouldn't reboot after the update ran... they just sat there, alarming me that they might be bricked. However, a "hard reset" (holding the power button and the home button down together, right?) woke them both back up, whereupon they had the little animated white updating bar again, and finally came back up functioning normally and labeled 10.0.2. Slightly scary, but quickly resolved!

I think there might have been something wrong with your phone then, the battery life on the S7 Edge is very very good, much better than any iPhone. Always-on display and fast-charge is great. Most of the hardware complaints people have with the iPhone, even the 7 series, are resolved with the S7 Edge.

Although, I do agree with the integration, mostly that I can't sync bookmarks with the built in Internet browser. I probably could with Chrome, but that doesn't support adblockers, which is a real pain. Outside the US, most people use WhatsApp, so iMessage largely irrelevant. I was a reluctant switcher after being an iPhone user since the original but lack of decent innovation pushed me to the S7 Edge and I don't regret it. Oh, and split-screen apps are great too.

But I don't want to come across as a troll, I just wish Apple had kept up with the competition more.

It definitely could have been my phone. I restored several times but, being a US customer, I was stuck with the 820 variant and AT&T's slow update process. Another huge reason for switching back was quick iOS updates directly from the source. I gave the S7E an honest shot; used it for about six months or so, but having the iPhone 7 for this last week has been amazing. iMessage was hugely important to me as well. I can definitely appreciate those who prefer the S7/S7E, I'm just not one of those people.

I've had the S7 edge. The battery life is good but it wasn't better than my 6S plus.

I hope it fixes losing wifi. Yesterday I was on a call at home on wifi and whenever I would open maps or google maps I would instantly lose wifi. Very annoying.

I can't say for sure it's related to the 10.0.2 update but my iPad Air 2 has turned off it's own wifi twice since I updated this morning.
