I got that error message during the beta period.
I think they're trying to make Keychain more secure and it's causing a few bugs.

Probably indexing. Wait a day or two after installing the update.

Lol,indexing.Like there is 0.1 inch 3000 rpm HDD inside iPhone.Dude, that is flash storage.Even if there is happening some kind of "indexing" it would be done in 5 min and wouldn't be draining battery the whole day. Only explanation of "better performance after 10.3 update" is increased usage of phone resources to achieve that goal which leads to increased consumption of power.

Apple today released iOS 10.3 to the public. . .

. . . and I installed on my iPhone 5 (64GB). I had manually to restart the phone a few times but eventually the update was installed. However, now my iPhone 5 runs very slowly.

Under Settings -> ITunes & App Store... if you tap your Apple ID, there's a new Account Settings -> Rating and Review with basically all of your reviews for apps, podcasts, etc.

But no obvious way to turn off notifications.

(I also came up empty at Settings -> Notifications.)

Yeah I found that and got exctited that it was going to be in there but nope, nothing. They must have taken the toggle option out at some point. Odd the article still mentions it but its not there.

Is this worth the upgrade for someone on a 5C currently running 9.3.1?
Apple keeps bugging me to upgrade and downloading the OS. I have to keep deleting it but I'm thinking about just giving in. I just don't want my old phone to slow down a lot.

Having read all the messages in this thread so far, I believe I've seen 3 messages from owners of an iphone 5 whose performance has improved and 1 from someone whose iPhone 5 has slowed down.

I updated my iPhone 7plus to 10.3 and today I did not have stuttering while streaming music over bluetooth!. Did anyone else experience the same? could this be a silent fix?

Rounded edges definitely there. Just maybe too fast for many to notice, which is the real improvement. iPhone 7 here.

Where? same old on mine...

After beta updates it definitely is worth it!

No it isn't, I am on all beta's except for the iWatch, never ran into problems not doing a clean install.
Do you really know how the OS gets updated, I think not really, a clean install and then importing all your data from a backup is exactly the same as a normal update.
I've been using OS X (iOS is basically the same) since the beginning and there just no reason to clean install after beta's, period.

The last big onset of new features before this summer with iOS 11
One of the best features is the enterprise AdHoc 'Classroom' management you can now do on your iPad.

For example, let's say you have a board meeting and ten iPads. One iPad has the classroom App. It can now AdHoc invite all the other iPads without needing an MDM. The AdHoc controlling iPad can blackout the display, view the displays of the added iPads, split the iPads up into groups and lock them into individual apps, easily pull the iPads to a common link. Much better than requiring the user to type in something complex or relying on tinyurl.

iPads must be on the same iOS version: 10.3 minimum.
I found incompatibilities between the 10.3 beta and the updated 10.3 base. For example, my device on beta 10.3 would not control a base 10.3. Once I updated them both the the same iOS 10.3 beta, it worked again.

Working on a write up.

I so hope your right.

I have this problem intermittently. Please post again with your ongoing results.

BTW, I believe this has been a problem primarily with cars whose bluetooth chip is PRE bluetooth 4. Bluetooth 4 came out in about 2012.

Update was painless on old iPhone 6 Plus, I turned off the "Reduce Motion" since it seemed sluggish in the last 10.2.1 update . Right now it feels a little snappier again.

Also the new file system looked like it bumped up the capacity, gave me a little over 2GB of available space left too. Not bad. Battery life...not sure yet on my end. I'll see what happens in a few hours.

Thank you. I hadn't read the whole thread.

is this not available for iPad4? I have it on my iPhone6 but it is saying there is not an update available for the iPad4...

I've just updated my iPad mini 2, 16 GB, Wi-Fi and Cellular model. I had a backup from this morning, and no one here reported catastrophic failures.

Everything went well. The iOS animations feel quick and snappy. I don't know if it's because it's fresh after an update, or if the performance really went up, but it feels good and I'm not complaining.

Capacity before was 12.05 GB, afterward it's 12.41 GB. Available space before was 121 MB, after it's 2.21 GB, so that's awesome.

I also did a mini 2 wifi + cellular. The Mini didn't have the performance issues my iPhone 6 + 10.2.1 had, but it installed without a hitch, so there's that ;)

After updating iPhone 6 64 GB experiencing staccatoing with Notification Center and app switcher and tearing in 64 bit games.
Fail!:(

Some people care about performance, battery life, and a lot of the "new features" make things worse.

That it's "free" means nothing when it's permanent and can be detrimental, as was the case for me with iOS 10 on iPhone 6.

You left out security to enhance your argument. Security can never be forgotten or left out. Upgrade and stop playing around.

It isn't to "enhance my argument".

Security is only one aspect. I don't want my device to be unusable due to terrible battery, lag, input blocking, and poor feature changes/implementation.

iOS 9.3 is still quite a secure platform if you use some sense.

A good example of why is removing old log and files for one. In an older version of iOS I was unable to remove rogue dangling photos from my phone. A full restore was required to clean this up. The same can be the case for other types of files. This is especially more necessary when going from beta to beta. Occasionally config files can get corrupted.

But I'm glad delta updates work well for you.

Keep the faith :)

APFS huh ? Let's see how fast it will make it to macOS. It will be even more useful there.
