Apple Releases iOS 11.2 With Apple Pay Cash, Faster 7.5W Wireless Charging, Date Bug Fix and More [Updated]

Waiting before upgrading to 11.2. I hope the software bugs and flaws have sparked a fire under the :apple: software engineering department's behinds. While minor bugs happen, there have been some unsettling trip ups these past few weeks.

Both iPhone X don't fast charge on the ravpower wireless charger that does support 7.5W. Looks like it is either not working or they block non certified chargers.

Apple cash appears to be disabled at the moment. Updated to 11.2 and no options anywhere to turn it on. :(
I got real excited, even texted friends recommending they update before I did it.... now... disappointed. Guess we’ll have to wait a few more days, according to the update to the article.

Having pop up notifications in CC is a hideous aesthetic,

I dont care what functional/educational purpose it serves.

Beyond hideous

What features from iOS 11 does the 5S gain, really? 99% of the major iOS 11 features don't apply to the 5S, and the few that do are just re-designed areas (lock screen, control center). iOS 11 has been the biggest hit to performance I've seen with the 5S, even iOS 9 and 10 (which added a good number of useful features to the 5S) hardly had any performance impact. It feels like 11 added almost nothing and really hurt the performance at the same time.

But... but....

It benchmarks the same

ZERO degradation in your personal, first hand experience. Trust #’s before your eyes. :p

I always do the software updates right away, but I am not upgrading to 11.2 until Apple Pay Cash comes out. Like... what the heck Apple? How is that and iMessage in the cloud so difficult to release?

11.2 feels significantly less laggy on my backup 5s, especially swyping on Google keyboard Gboard, as compared to 11.1

11.1 was disaster on the 5s. It's usable again with 11.2.

I can't really feel much difference on my newer iDevices. They seem about as laggy as before.

Maybe this release had a bit of loving attention directed to older devices?

What does "others nearby" mean? Just Wi-Fi networks it can detect at that time? So if I drive to work, it will kick back on and connect to my work Wi-Fi? Also, what time is "tomorrow"? Will it turn back on at 12:01am? It's so ambiguous, and I agree it looks like garbage having a modal popup occur there, and it doesn't really serve to help anything. Does the popup at least go away if you toggle it on/off a few times?

I would hope so but will have to lean on others to answer that

I’m Not updating to ios 11.2 right away

I practice what i preach on being cautious... usually.

Fast charge not working for iPhone 8Plus on RawPower wireless charger: getting orange light blinking instead of the green one wtf !

iOS 11.2 seems to come with another carrier update, for AT&T at least - mine was bumped from 30.1 to 31.0

Does it fix the GPS issues?!

Are you outside of the US?

iOS 11.2 introduces Apple Pay Cash to send, request, and receive money from friends and family with Apple Pay. This update also includes bug fixes and improvements.

Apple Pay Cash (US Only)
Send, request, and receive money from friends and family with Apple Pay in Messages or by asking Siri

You need to buy official compatible wireless charger.
Non authorized third party chargers have been disabled in 11.2 for safety reasons at fast charging.

List of officially supported wireless chargers can be found here: https://www.apple.com/shop/iphone/iphone-accessories/power-cables
What a nice excuse from Apple to charge three times as much for a fast charger. Also I think RawPower should clarify whether their chargers are enabled on iPhone X/8/8Plus

Anyone else seeing frame drops when closing apps to the home screen? On my iPhone 8, it was always buttery smooth (like it always is) when going to the home screen, now with 11.2 there are big frame drops about 1/5 of the time when closing an app.

Also the weather widget's temperature number is now bolded as well, for some reason. Just looks weird.

Also, after a reboot, swipe left to the Today view - the topmost widget will be up too high, cut off by the search bar, until it settles into place. Reproducible every time you do a reboot (or if the device resprings). This started on 11.0, sad to see it's still not fixed yet.

Apply Pay Cash is working for me... I haven't linked a debit card yet, but I ran through the setup and it reported as activated.
