So I’m noticing with 11.2 that my wireless charging battery % is off by quite a bit. It’s increasing slowly but it was 79% before I turned my phone off and then 85% when I turned it back on. (Off charger, standard slide to power off and hold to turn back on).

I wonder if Apple had to disable Cash/etc since their bank partner might get overloaded without a heads up on the emergency weekend release. I hope someone in Cupertino gets yelled at for sloppy software releases.

For sure. The big bug is for syncing large photo albums over USB (or WiFi) that Apple is have lots of trouble fixing

I’ll wait for 11.2.1 because based on some issues that some people are having with 11.2, it looks like because of the date bug, it was released a few days too early.

The iPad Pro 12.9 on 11.2 still has that annoying bug when you go into control center and the background or wallpaper doesn't become opaque, so it become a jumbled mess with the app icons mixed in with the non opaque wallpaper.

It's unlike me to say this, but we are in unusual territory- I think we are past the yelling stage. Someone needs to be fired at this point. I hope it's not Craig Federighi, even though it probably is. It is his department after all. But some very drastic steps need to be taken and ASAP.

They need a Snow Leopard release (or two) of iOS and macOS to get rid of all the bugs and address quality control in the releases.

Wondering if this’ll bring out 10.13.2 as well...

Still not available.
But I see why they had to release 11.2, there was that stupid date bug today so they really had to release something to correct it as soon as possible. macOS isn't affected, so there's no rush to release .2 and let's hope they take their time and be sure to issue a good version next time.

Ooh. That's interesting. I'm assuming you're on an X?

I can't say I don't see the reason why they added it. There's a haptic bump on NC and CC opening fully, and when engaging Peek Pop, so it kind of makes sense.

I wish there was a way to keep message haptics, but turn off system and peek pop haptics.
That haptic feedback on iOS 10 which was there on iOS with NC and CC has been removed in iOS 11 on 7 Plus. It felt weird after a year of "Feeling it". Interesting they have it on the X now but not the7 Plus on iOS 11

I don’t know if anyone else is having this problem but Face ID is no longer working since I applied the 11.2 update

I always do the software updates right away, but I am not upgrading to 11.2 until Apple Pay Cash comes out. Like... what the heck Apple? How is that and iMessage in the cloud so difficult to release?

In case you haven't read the MR starting post or any of the posts in here, this version was released expressly for the purpose of handling the date bug, which could be a real show stopper for some users with 11.1.2 or earlier.

If apple pay isn't included (and some people claim it IS working) it's either because back end services haven't been turned on yet, or because some beta testers are still having problems. It takes as long as it takes. I really don't see this as any source for concern. Patience grasshopper

Did a clean install on iPhone X and everything is peachy. And the calculator finally works again, lol.

Totally agree. Apple needs to slow the heck down and stop trying to introduce so many new things so quickly. MacOS and iOS is a total mess. They are riddled with problems and new problems surface after every single update.

I've really lost faith in Apple and that is a tough statement to say considering that I'm a die hard fan, I own tons of their hardware, and I also own a substantial share of AAPL stock.

Yeah, they really need to go back to square one for QC. This is getting out of hand.

What features from iOS 11 does the 5S gain, really? 99% of the major iOS 11 features don't apply to the 5S, and the few that do are just re-designed areas (lock screen, control center). iOS 11 has been the biggest hit to performance I've seen with the 5S, even iOS 9 and 10 (which added a good number of useful features to the 5S) hardly had any performance impact. It feels like 11 added almost nothing and really hurt the performance at the same time.

I usually find myself agreeing with (or at least tolerating) Apple's decisions. But they (and I expect, "Android" as well) don't really support older phones properly. Newer versions of the OSes may provide more features, but drain processor power, even when those features aren't used. Sure, you have the option not to upgrade to the latest OS; but if you don't, you may miss critical security fixes-- and considering how these devices may be the gateways to your bank accounts and other high value life functions, security is mandatory. Apple does, for some systems, provide a degree of security maintenance for some older systems, but it's clearly second class treatment. Moreover, Apple's policies for maintaining older systems reflect the mind set of a computer manufacturer, as opposed to a phone manufacturer. Many people have no interest in replacing their phones on a regular basis; they use them until they break, as their expectation is that the phone will continue to support the limited set of functions they value. Many people think of their smartphone as a phone first, that also does some useful other stuff; not as a general purpose computer, that they can constantly expand with the latest cool apps. I know that is not the mindset of the gadget fans on MacRumors, but is more reflective of the general population.

Doesn't really seem like the update is causing issues, at least no more than any other update typically might. They did release 11.2 earlier than planned, but seems like the build that was released was the one they were planning to release anyway (most likely in the next week or so), given that beta 6 had many indications of being that GM type of a build.

I find this happens a lot when I have reduce motion on

This article doesnt discredit anything.

Real world use/performance and experience crushing bugs are a real thing.

Benchmarks wont reveal that. They just render stuff and spit out #’s.

Of course apple isnt SLOWING DOWN the processor itself with new versions for older gear.

But people with older gear on newer versions, experience way worse times. And its not just nostalgia. It’s a lack of care.

I dont believe its intentional malicious planned obsolescence, fwiw.

I think its middle managers cracking the whip telling them to spend 95% of their efforts on the newest device (for stock market perception/sales, etc.) and to backport to other devices “when they get to it” before issuing a final release for any firmware.

Yes because people's subjective emotions and biases are much more credible and reliable than hard facts.
