Simply just deleting all your data is not as bad or even close? How about they are both rather bad? Seems like things are really being pigeonholed to try to fit some narrative.

Somehow many are not experiencing most of that. That's not to say that there aren't some with more/bigger issues.

I would rather lose my data that is recoverable than someone logging on to my macbook. You can lose your bank account, credit cards, personal bank cards, confidential information such as work info etc. Apple keychain? How about unlocking your house or losing your job?

So no not in the same ballpark.

Why did Steve Jobs basically handpick Tim Cook then?

Why did he hire John Scully? Who was also hand picked. He made a mistake.

It’s clear that Apple are pushing out iOS updates before they’re ready in order to boost iPhone X sales. This is what happens when you care more about your share price than your customers.
How is that clear? o_O

Really? Why do some people have apple pay cash and some do not for example? Look at the link i posted on iOS version history so it can be clear to you since Tim took over. It is rather telling.

As a person who has seen every version of iOS from the first iphone to X it is rather clear to me how bad quality control is.

How are those iOS 7 version history release notes boosting iPhone X sales again?

I had both my ipad air 2 and my iphone 5s respring a few hours after the update and the 5s burning through a lot of battery (hopefully just for indexing). Not convinced by Apple's QA.

They are making more money but they are not making better products.

case in point: the glass-back-stainless-steel-state-of-the-art-iphone, selling for $500.
yup, that was the price for the iconic iphone 4. only 7 years later a comparable iphone sells for double that money. see also: 13 inch mbp,...

Might want to double check the context of the replies and quoted posts they are in reply to.

Really? You were replying to my quote. You might want to do the same.

Great for you. I have to disable Wi-Fi on a daily basis while on FaceTime calls because since iOS 11 it won’t cleanly transition from low Wi-Fi signal to LTE. Now it’s just more work to enable and disable Wi-Fi.

Using the Control Centre button will do what you want.... disconnect Wifi from the local network. Why do you think it needs to disconnect from more than that?

Use a stopwatch.
iPhone X: 2716mAh * 3.7V = 10.04Wh

With 5W charge, it will charge in 10.04Wh/5W = ~2h + x for CV phase (more than 2 hours)
With 7.5W charge, it will charge in 10.04Wh/7.5W = ~1.3h + x for CV phase (around 1.5 hours)

In real time use = very little difference

They are scrambling. And that is almost always a bad and indicative sign of someone loosing control.

Hardly news though. Anyone using Apple's software the past 5 years have seen this coming. New iOS & macOS every year is too much. All their users can see and feel it. Only Apple cannot. That phenomena is referred to as 'Self Blindness' and happens to all of us when we enter too deep and cannot see beyond our own horizon.

I call it "bug fragmentation"

They are giving the user a choice of updates to choose which bugs they want to live with! It's very innovative.

Never said it had too. People have a short memory about what quality Apple used to represent. Or are new to Apple and don’t know the difference. I do as do many others. As the saying goes ignorance is bliss. Enjoy your new toys.

Yes record breaking earnings do not make better products. Tim Cook is a numbers guy same as John Sculley. He too made Apple profit margins higher after steve but in the long run the products suffered. As the products are not the same as under Steve. How many new products did Apple release since his passing? One? Four years of the same design phone? Hardware on the mac side a joke?

Steves motto was to just make great products and the profits would follow. Tims Motto is to make as much profit as possible and use that to make good products, invest money where they are most profitable, and nickel and dime the customer to death by removing ports, raising prices, and selling dongles. They are making more money but they are not making better products.
It’s not ignorance is bliss, Apple finally got out from under Steve’s prejudices and is realizing its potential. We can debate the meaning of “great products”.

But you “Tim is profit” crowd forgets it takes customers to buy products to make money. And if you think Cook is sculley your welcome to your opinion.

Steve is dead, time to let that one go. Don’t like Apple of today, thankfully for you guys Samsung has phones for you and some nice ones.

I love my new toys.

Hi i7guy I agree with iamthedudeman and I believe that lot of long time Apple customers will agree with him! Especially those who consider their purchases as products and not just toys. Of course we will look at Samsung if things continue like that.

For some of us Apple used to represent a company with very specific philosophy. Excellent and beautiful products that just WORK! They were not always hardware-wise better than the competition but the software was so well integrated to the hardware that the end result would make the customer's life easier! Now Apple is just increasing the prices with inferior and problematic hardware and bellow average software! How do they justify it? How long will it take before customers will start looking at alternatives?

Other than J. Sculley there are other more recent examples such as Blackburry, Nokia. Unless you believe in the dogma too big to fail :)

After about 12 hrs or so off and on usage with 11.2, it does seem a bit smoother than all the previous versions of iOS 11 did on my 6s. Haven’t messed with my iPad much today.

now running this new version on my 6s.

this version is noticeably smoother.

no problems whatsoever so far with this version.
many small bugs fixed with this version.

iOS 11.2 seems to run faster and smoother on my 6s. Some of the laggy animations are gone. It seems though, that the battery drains more quickly. Let's see if that gets better over time

I agree. Any company can fail can for any reason. Samsung, eg, can go down in flames, so to speak. “Long time” Apple customers and steve jobs disciples may not like the new Apple. Nothing wrong with that, find what works and move on. Why I now have Apple products in my House is due to the deep software integration and just works philosophy. Yes, their ecosystem makes my life easier than android/windows. That’s why I like Apple.

I fly frequently for work and really like the new control panel logic for airplane mode. Until recently turning on airplane mode shut off blue tooth and my headphones. Now it leaves them connected and cuts of cellular and wifi. Big win.

Do you get the metalic click when you swipe up to close the control Center from the bottom bar?

It is a strange haptic with a click in it. Feels broken.
Is anyone else getting that metallic haptic click on an iPhone X? I'm curious if it's a common thing. I haven't upgraded yet and don't want to if it it could damage the haptic engine.
