You realize not everyone has an Apple phone don't you? And you realize it's nearly impossible to get any "friend group" to agree on one messaging service, right?

i already said it must be a „cultural“ thing I guess. Literally everyone and their grandmother uses WhatsApp here. MMS used to cost like 0,49€ each. Legit no one I know ever used a MMS. When I was a teenager, MMS launched but everyone that had a someone „up to date“ phone sent emails instead because it was super expensive to send an MMS. The first carriers actually discontinue the service somewhat soon. You learn something new every day I suppose

Yep I still miss the notifications within the first 10 minutes after downloading and installing.
Uggh. I'm going to test the SMS short code here in a bit and will report back. It's still preparing the update. I have one particular provider (a very large healthcare provider) where I've yet to receive an SMS short code despite numerous tries.

My issue is when I'm on a 5g call, and try to iMessage someone, it switched to text. I have to force kill the app to get it to revert to iMessage. Then it goes back, over and over. 14.2 didn't do that on my 11 Pro Max, but it's constant on my 12 Pro Max and several friends have the same issue.

My response came across as snarky...trust me...I prefer your way......but with my demographic in the States....not happening.

Then something is messed up with Verizon with your number, because if you have non imessages on your phone, they will be in the Message+ app. Also, once you open the app for the first time, it may take 5 minutes for them download and show up in the app because it has to retrieve a boatload of old texts. So be patient when you let it download all those texts the first time.
They have a web version. If there are messages on the version servers, they should show up there.

Same, I reported above that it did not fix my missing text messages either.

finally! the efforts of people from the thread who submitted feedback finally paid off!

Please fix iCloud tabs synchronization please. Also, I just updated to the new 14.2 build this morning, hilarious.
Why has this not been fixed yet? It’s a pain in the a$$. People reported it on iOS 13/14, so seems an Apple backend issue.

It certainly can depend on what's used. Outside of using any particular messenger apps or services (like WhatsApp or even iMessage) whenever anyone just used regular "texting" and sent or received a message that had any media (photos, videos, etc.) or sent or received any group messages then generally MMS would have been involved.

Curious to hear from 12 mini owners if this is helping much with the lock screen issue. It seemed like people with screen protectors and cases had it worse, suggesting that it was at least partially a hardware issue.

I think this fixes the lock screen issue after some testing. However, my opinion alone may be anecdotal.

So Apple finally admits it was an issue on their end, after blaming the carriers that it was their problem for the last 2 weeks.
Or Apple just decided to stop waiting for them to catch up and just fixed it themselves?

could be any scenario :) at least it's hopefully fixed

I've not had any iMessage misses. All of the misses that I've had are either group SMSs (which I believe are sent MMS); singular MMSs (ie photos being sent) and short code SMSs. I'm going to test the latter in a few.

My short code didn't come through but I downloaded the verizon messaging app and it's not coming through on there either, so I believe that is my healthcare provider's issue.

So far so good on MMSs (though they were mostly working before, just not all the time), we'll see if any get dropped now.

I just updated - and the colors on low brightness seem more vibrant than before. Its weird but I see a notable difference... don't know why. Maybe it's a hidden fix somewhere.
