Apple today released iOS 16.0.3, a minor bug fix update that comes a few weeks after the launch of the iOS 16 operating system. The iOS 16.0.3 update follows iOS 16.0.2, software that addressed a number of launch day bugs on the iPhone 14 models.

The iOS 16.0.3 update can be downloaded on eligible iPhones over-the-air by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

According to Apple's release notes, the iOS 16.0.3 update addresses a number of bugs that iPhone users have run into over the course of the last few weeks. The CarPlay bug caused iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users to experience low volume levels when attempting to make a hands-free phone call in a vehicle. The issue caused the person making the call to sound quiet or far away when speaking, making them difficult to hear.

The camera issue saw some users reporting delays of up to four or five seconds before the Camera app began working after launch in some cases.

There has also been a persistent display flickering issue, which causes some iPhone owners who upgraded to iOS 16 to see flickering in dark spots on the display when the iPhone is at low brightness, but it's unclear whether that issue is addressed in this update.

iOS 16.0.3 will likely be followed by iOS 16.1, which is set to be released alongside iPadOS 16.1 in the near future.

Was hoping they would have added an option to completely remove that annoying dynamic island . It is like have the notch as is still then when watching videos

I notice one of the bugs this update allegedly addresses is "Mail crashes on launch after receiving malformed email."
While I have not seen that one, I have been experiencing a Mail bug since at least iOS 14.

I Lauch Mail. Tap an email in my Inbox. If that message contains a link, tapping that will auto-launch my browser of choice (Safari). So far, this is all expected behavior. When I hop back to Mail, that same email is still open - as expected. I exit out to my Inbox, close Mail. Everything is fine. But here's where it gets weird... The next time I open Mail, it auto-opens to the last email that auto-launched out to Safari, as opposed to opening in my Inbox. Super annoying. And 100% repeatable.

At this point, any attention paid Mail is OK by me. While not holding my breath, maybe this tweak will magically address this issue? Probably not. I'm staring at my Apple progress bar on my 14 Pro. Once installed, it will be the first thing I try.
Well crap. After upgrading, I was able to test my Mail issue about a dozen times and each time it behaved exactly as expected. I was stunned. And then, just like that, it re erred back to the issue I described above. Boo this!

On this topic... Anyone else experiencing the same issue I describe above? I've not hear much about it and curious how isolated it might be.

These people saying this stuff don't even have a clue. They're just jealous that they chose a profession that can't work from home, or perhaps are actually technology workers but just too lazy or underskilled to leave their in-office employer for one who allows hybrid or remote work.

The poor quality code that has been coming out of shops like Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, and Google in recent years -- even more than two years ago -- is a bigger reflection of Agile and Scrum mentalities being forced on everyone, rather than where somebody is working from.

Traditional software development cycles worked for 30 years, but because "fast" is never fast enough for greedy business leaders, these untested and flawed project management practices are being foisted upon everyone. It's nothing more than an excuse to cut QA out of the picture, lay off testers, and pump code out as fast as the keys lift off of developers' keyboards no matter how buggy it might be at first glance.
There’s nothing wrong with agile whether scrum or kanban or whatever. It’s how it’s implemented and whether it is given proper resources that makes it work or not.

Hope this solves the annoying thing I continually have had: When listening to music through my AirPods Pro, if the screen is off and I wake it up, I always have a slight hiccup in the audio, like it skipped for a fraction of a second. It is just long enough of a gap to be audible and noticeable and is driving me insane....

I wish they would fix the problem where I can't seem to use T-Mobile on two 13 Pro Max iPhones. I can only use a third Pro Max because I have a Verizon sim in it. The Verizon sim will work in the other two as well. All three will have intermittent connection problems on T-Mobile.

Yeahhhhhhh, you get that iOS all ready for my shiny new iPhone 14 Pro that’s in the mail.

Just finished installing on the 13 mini. Still seeing the same flickering...

What kind of flickering? The only annoying thing I found is the fact that notifications wake up the screen and often leads to unintended unlock and in worst case unintentional deletion of apps or even email. Ever so often I get my phone out of my pocket to find it with wiggling icons on the home screen or the mail app in state of multi select about to delete a bunch of messages.

Anyone else is having cellular connectivity issues on 14 Pro Max... or maybe on Verizon as well ???
Well, with car play and verizon, the other side of the conversation was barely audible. (the opposite of the reported problem with carplay. Sometimes I wonder why I even try.

The saturation in the display appears to flicker when it's animating at certain times. The easiest way I know to reproduce it is:
  1. Make sure you're using dark mode
  2. Open the App Store app
  3. Tap your profile icon to open the app updates page
  4. Pull down to refresh
  5. Tap Update All
  6. While updates are installing, as the circle progress bar animates with each app, you'll see the dark areas of the display flicker. When the image on the screen is still, there is no flickering.

The same happens to me a LOT if I put it in my pocket unlocked.

And the lock screen wallpaper chooser comes up a lot as well when I put it in my pocket locked. It seems like the supposed dark of a pocket doesn't prevent button presses with the new phone.

Are they going to fix the bug where the screen goes black and unresponsive, requiring a hard reset? Please?
This has happened to me a couple of times, in conjunction with using my AirPods Pros (gen 2). Can’t do anything with the phone, but as soon as I put the headphones in the case, the phone is back to normal.
