I updated everything (iPhone, Watch, iPad, MacBook Pro, HomePod(s) and Apple TV(s)) then updated to the new HomeKit architecture. When trying to load the Home app on the Mac it gets stuck at "Loading Accessories and Scenes". I tried rebooting but it did not help. Has anybody else run into this?

LE: This only happens on the M1 Pro MacBook Pro. On the Intel MacBook Pro on the same iCloud account it loads fine.

Genuinely asking: how is Freeform any different from, say, collaborating on a Pages or Keynote layout document? Seems like more or less the same layout tools.

When you speak on the phone with ios 16.2 and you have the phone close to your ear you cannot change the volume of the ear speaker. this was present in previous ios too or it's a new feature?

2022 iPad 12.9 updated. Stage manager is snappier, not as hard to engage from the left side of the screen.

Did the Custom Accessibility Mode not make it into the final 16.2 release? Or do I just not know where to look for it?

Edit: Looks like it didn't as I would assume Apple would have mentioned it in their release notes as well. Oh well. Hopefully in a future update.

Please explain how you updated to the new HomeKt architecture. What did you do exactly? Can you uddate the iPhone but choose to NOT update the new HomeKit architexture? I am getting very confused here.
Yes, upgrading to the new HomeKit architecture is a separate and optional step that you can choose not to make.
To upgrade to the new HomeKit architecture you go to the Home app --> Home settings --> Software update and from there you do it. But first you have to have all the devices on your account and in your household updated, otherwise they will not be able to access the HomeKit after the update to the new architecture.

And the same story I had with iOS now on iPad OS - after update OS asks to set up again Siri and turns on “Hey Siri” and Siri suggestions everywhere (both options were disabled previously).

Can you please explain what you mean? If I update my iPhone then I will need to update my AppleTv and my homepod as well If I want to stream to them? Where can I get info about this?
Exactly so. In the Home app, Home Settings menu (top right), scroll down to update the HomePods. You'll then get the prompt to upgrade your Home for speedier access.

Anybody know what's up with the requirement that all your devices be updated to enable icloud encryption? It says my 2012 MBP isn't compatible and I need to remove it from my account. I don't even back that machine up to icloud and just want to encrypt my iOS backups, but I'm not ready to completely trash that laptop.

Thank you very much. My chicken brain got it right, at last.

I've tried to update three times so far. It gets to "0 seconds remaining," and then I get a failed to download message. Maybe I should wait until tomorrow.

It's available for my (spare) 1st gen iPhone SE that I still have around the house. I suspect 15.7.2 is only for devices that can't upgrade to iOS 16. It was bound to happen eventually.
It is available for my iPad 6th gen and I have the option for iOS 16.

Have 13 Pro with 15.7.1. The iPhone update shows 16.2 as available while iTunes doesn't show 15.7.2 yet so will wait to see when it's available.
