It's an improvement , but still "warm" instead of "hot". My previous 13 Pro doesn't run as warm.
Hopefully this is a quick fix, and next update will fix it completely.
Yeah my iPhone 15 still gets warmer than my previous iPhone 12, which NEVER got like this doing basic stuff.

What a smart comment. There can always be bugs in anything when released. And fyi, I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and only experienced a hotter than normal phone when setting up (which is normal) and was cool ever since.

I hope that poster's bosses are as lenient with the poster's mistakes as the poster wants Apple to be with theirs.

It's amazing to me that users have kept gaslighting those who encountered the issue: "it's just warm. that's not overheating"; "it's indexing"; "you are using it too much"; "no issue with mine"; "first world problems"; "just be grateful"...on and on and on. The issue is with Apple's end all along. Even Apple admits it. Next time, just accept that some people might have problems with their devices that might not be happening to yours, and that the problem could be with Apple and not the users. You can believe other people's complaints and still be happy with your own device. Don't take it personally.

Nobody is saying the phone doesn’t heat up. What dismayed me were all the conspiracy theories floating around, and the generally overblown reaction to all of this, and the general willingness to believe in lies like a rumoured poor thermal design being the cause. Delight in the prospect of another “gate” spelling trouble for Apple. Phones melting. Fire Tim Cook.

It turned out to be a nothingburger. Yes, there a bug. Apple will fix it. People will continue to enjoy their iPhones, and life goes on.

And by this time next week, the internet will simply have flitted to the next manufactured controversy to bash Apple over.

People don’t want the truth. They just want to hate on Apple, and they will blindly accept any rumour that fits in with this worldview where Apple sucks.

why is the new update giving me "time to destination" every time I get in the car. It doesnt even know where I am going. My calendar is empty. This is absurd.
Are you sure it’s not time to your home as that’s what I get since I synced the phone to the car’s Bluetooth?

So has this even fixed the issue? Lots of comments here but anyone who has battery drain or overheating can say if this update solved the problem?

Same plague happened to my iPhone 13 Mini, more so on 16.5.1. 16.6 got it fixed.
Another 13 Mini user here since start of this year. I'm still on 16.6.1 and using this opportunity to ask if you've had any regrets (or negative experiences) with moving to iOS17?

My phone battery quite literally melted just navigating for an hour, went from 75% down to 29% - this was pre-this update on the 15 Pro Max. I wasn't aware there that there was an overheating issue. However, on another drive I had my phone mounted to the dash & got a message on the screen saying that charging will resume once the phone cools down. The phone wasn't too hot to the touch, so I'm not sure what that was all about.

I still haven't been able to get Message indexing to work on three attempts to iPhone to iPhone transfer, even with this latest update. Nobody is talking about it though.

Apple should perfect what they have before talking about next year. It’s a total embarrassment! While Cookie sells stock today us morons are fumbling with defective nonsense.

We need tests on throttling behavior over 10 or 20 minutes. A single GB run won't affect performance because it doesn't get hot enough in such a short period
How many people are running Geekbench loops all day versus plugging their phone in to charge which causes even an idle phone to get hot to the touch?

iPhone 15 pro iOS 17.0.2 vs 17.0.3 not much of a difference. I'm also pusing the phone to the limit for the past 10 days and didn't feel any overheating as well.
