I doubt they fixed it, but maybe, just maybe it's fixed with MacOS 14.2.1. MacOS isn't showing for me yet.Yep. iOS 17.2.1 did NOT fix the syncing issue
But this still works to resume syncing:
pkill -9 "MDCrashReportTool"
in Terminal.

I'm hoping the just maybe comes true 😂I doubt they fixed it, but maybe, just maybe it's fixed with MacOS 14.2.1. MacOS isn't showing for me yet.
Apple usually elaborates later on, but if they announce what the update is patching right when they release it, it would compromise security. It makes sense waiting for as many people to update as possible before revealing what exploit it fixes."update provides important bug fixes" - typical apple as-clear-as-mud explanation.
WHAT bug fixes?
Apple are unlikely to fix it by updating MDCrashReportTool. That is very old software at least 15 years old and on a plethora of systems - both on macs AND windows pcs. Imagine trying to update it on so many systems.I doubt they fixed it, but maybe, just maybe it's fixed with MacOS 14.2.1. MacOS isn't showing for me yet.
This bug started for me at 17.0 but there were workarounds by turning off the Apple Watch and then sync. That was working until 17.2.Apple are unlikely to fix it by updating MDCrashReportTool. It was iOS 17.2 that borked it - so that is the software that needs to be fixed, not MDCrashReportTool.
Yeah, I wish Apple could be specific about those important bug fixes. Maybe add a link to a webpage or something."update provides important bug fixes" - typical apple as-clear-as-mud explanation.

Yep happened to me this morning on my iPhone even on 17.2. As well on iPad if you have two different wallpapers set the rotation is incredibly laggy and just snaps a second or two after you rotate. Something’s broken with the wallpaper system across the boardI have a different wallpaper for my home screen than on my lock screen. After this update, my home screen wallpaper was reset to be the same as the lock screen one. I was able to resolve it by switching to another saved wallpaper and back, but that was still really odd. Has anyone else had this happen?
Well if they are as apple says "important", then why are they not "important" enough to tell us what they are?I wish Apple could be specific about those important bug fixes
Yes. The one time I recall it failing was with the iPad 2. Way back. it Would boot to Apple logo and that’s it. They had to be restored on the computer to fix it. We had of them and both failed.Does that honestly work?
Wallpapers are busted across the board on all devices after 17.2. Same wallpapers on lock and Home Screen on the phone and a weird bug on iPad if you have two diff wallpapers there’s a 1-2 second wallpaper lag on the Home Screen after rotating the device Before the wallpaper catches upThat broke for 17.2 for me. I was hoping this release would fix it. I fixed the wallpaper once and then it broke again.
I had that happen with the 17.2.0 update, and resolved it the same way.I have a different wallpaper for my home screen than on my lock screen. After this update, my home screen wallpaper was reset to be the same as the lock screen one. I was able to resolve it by switching to another saved wallpaper and back, but that was still really odd. Has anyone else had this happen?
You ain’t kidding. I made a list in the Reminders app of all our household Apple devices and check them off as I update (33 in total). Takes me a couple days to complete lol. Don’t like auto updates especially after HomePodOS 13 (I think) bricked so many of them.I understand it's better to be safe and bug-free, but keeping up with Apple's updates on multiple devices has become a side job in itself.
That didn't happen on mine (iPhone 15 Pro), but after seeing a couple of other folks reporting it, I was expecting to see it. Strange.I have a different wallpaper for my home screen than on my lock screen. After this update, my home screen wallpaper was reset to be the same as the lock screen one. I was able to resolve it by switching to another saved wallpaper and back, but that was still really odd. Has anyone else had this happen?

Not fixed with MacOS 14.2.1.This bug started for me at 17.0 but there were workarounds by turning off the Apple Watch and then sync. That was working until 17.2.
Some people mentioned that during 17.2 beta 3-4, it got almost fixed but the 17.2 public broke it completely. I wouldn't say it's only caused by iOS 17.2 and likely have dependencies on iOS, WatchOS and/or MacOS.
Same, I think they fixed the storage in the message app not showing up properly. My icloud back up kept increasing instead of decreasing even when I hadnt texted anyone. Also when I had 0 texts to begin with. BUT the part on icloud where it says next backup size it still doesnt show. It just says LOADING. So that bug is still there. Ppl said it was like that on their macs too. I even bought more storage just be safe. The backup storage annoyed me because I dont have much on my phone to begin with. 25 contacts 1 photo 0 texts so it just became annoying why it was increasing instead of decreasing. Im glad they fixed it a lil bitWell, given how buggy 17.2 has been for me... any fixes, explained or not, are welcome.
I noticed something funny a few days ago, but I thought it was just something with my eyes because I was tired.Hope they fixed the glitchy animation from the volume sliders. Not a major thing but it really bothers me.
I know, man, air is so thin I wonder how electrons move through it... The wire is the way to go for shorWhy do these updates show up on my phone immediately when announced on MacRumors but take quite a while to show up in the Finder, when my phone is connected to my Mac?
I am old school. I prefer updating my devices in the Finder, rather than over the air.
Hoping for the same - it’s my biggest issue at the moment. Haven’t seen it happen yet on the new version but it’s too early to tell.Does it fix the bug that causes Safari to not display the correct page when going “back” to the DuckDuckGo search results page after viewing a site? Because that sure is getting annoying.
