Journal app is pathetic - no tags, no search, no way to import/export, no time stamping, no formatting, I mean seriously all this time to create this app it looks to be in alpha stages. Even the notes app has become my goto journalling app because I can import easily and supports tags and even SIRI. This journal app is just trash at the moment.
So Day One doesn't become pathetic on Journal's day one.

They may be thinking that there is a higher likelihood that Apple customers will have their iPhone with them, rather than their iPad, and it’s easier to journal-as-you-go throughout their day.
Yes, but that’s still no excuse for not providing the app on the iPad… the device with the bigger screen, that can have a hardware keyboard.

I hope this update fixes the AirDrop issues I've been having on 15 Pro Max. Had some people over and their phones weren't being detected when I tried to AirDrop. Turned out that it was *my* phone causing the problem and I wasn't able to AirDrop until I restarted. Even then, I had some issues sending from my other devices, it keeps saying "Declined" even when AirDrop is set to everyone.

The journal app just being on the phone really does sum up the Apple of today

I want to take a positive spin on this and say the iPhone is the device the most people have and have with them. For me personally some of the problem with regular journaling has been keeping up with the physical journal when I want to write. Phone is always with me. Plus they take heavy inspiration from things you’ve done on your phone for the writing prompts.

I would like to see it on the Mac where people will have a keyboard, but it’s a good start.

Books font is different.

Keyboard “feels” more precise.

Also phone is warm after install. Maybe there’s some new indexing going on.

So how is everyone feeling about the journal app? Or are we keeping those thoughts private?

17.2 killed imessage on our 15. Says "not able to connect" and can only send/recieve from the email address now.

Be careful.

You know, I miss Scott Forstall. At least we could have expected some gorgeous, page-turning iPad journal. It legit could have magical "life" like the Daily Prophet. Instead we get an interface that looks and feels no different than the Notes app.

What was the hold up with this app? Did they take extra time developing this robust GUI inspired by TextEdit?

Innovation was tired, Profit offered to drive for a while.
Really good point. That would be nice. Prob would come with the opportunity of printing your journals on moleskine or some such

Idiotic?

Did Apple also announce iPad and Mac updates today?
How slow things are with getting apps promised by Apple
Mar 9, 2023 -The long-awaited classical music version of Apple Music has been announced, with a new app for it coming on March 28. Originally promised for 2022, and continually rumored to be about to launch ...
When we look at the Apple Classical app its only on iPhone and only recently got added to the iPad on November 16, but there is still no CarPlay integration.

So comparably anyone concerned about the Journal app being only iPhone being ported to other OS's should look at this as an eventual goal not an immediate goal. :D:eek:

The update notice states Camera enhancements. Does anyone know what the camera enhancements are?

Not to mention you cannot journal from your other Apple devices.

Yeah. That's OK with me. Nothing to get frothed up about. Unless of course it helps to make one feel better. Life goes on.

"How slow things are with getting apps promised by Apple"

Did Apple make promises as to when its Journal app would be available on iPad and Mac?
