Neither do I. This is turning out be yet another stinky update from Apple.
I didn't first till I found out where it's hidden

Yes, but that’s still no excuse for not providing the app on the iPad… the device with the bigger screen, that can have a hardware keyboard.
Fair point, I have an iPad 9th generation, and it would be much easier to Journal using a hardware keyboard. Let’s hope that Apple notices this oversight and corrects it.

I’ve been looking forward to the Journal app. But it’s only available on iPhone.

Not my iPad Air.
That has a pencil.
And a keyboard.
Or my Mac.
Awesome.

Of course what’s really dumb is that Apple encourages developers to develop for both iPhone AND iPad at the same time, because they’re essentially the same with SwiftUI.🤨

I want to take a positive spin on this and say the iPhone is the device the most people have and have with them. For me personally some of the problem with regular journaling has been keeping up with the physical journal when I want to write. Phone is always with me. Plus they take heavy inspiration from things you’ve done on your phone for the writing prompts.

I would like to see it on the Mac where people will have a keyboard, but it’s a good start.
I totally understand this, but it’s not really a compelling excuse not to offer it on the iPad. Offer it and let the consumer decide what device to use and when. It’s an ecosystem.

Now we have to option to change the default Notification Sound and I am hearing the volume level on these are so low you cant hear them! So Ill stick with 17.1 for now. At least I can hear the crappy default sound. Terrible. Is what it is.

Are you forgetting that even if the iOS journal app GUI would resize for a IPad install that its not appropriate GUI/navigation to use?

Here's hoping this Medications app bug is fixed with 17.2.

Prior to iOS 17, when I was wearing my Apple Watch, the alert from the Medications app used to sound on my Apple Watch. Since iOS 17, WatchOS 10, I get the sound alert from the Medications app sounding on my iPhone first, and then 15 seconds or so later I get the alert on my Apple Watch.

I agree with some of you. iPad is best for Journal esp with the pencil, bigger screen, etc. At least have it in both iPhone and iPad.

I guess another drip release.

Oh you want it on the iPad. That explains it.

Problem isn’t just with Journal. It’s with the iPad development plan (or lack there of)

Journal app is pathetic - no tags, no search, no way to import/export, no time stamping, no formatting, I mean seriously all this time to create this app it looks to be in alpha stages. Even the notes app has become my goto journalling app because I can import easily and supports tags and even SIRI. This journal app is just trash at the moment.

First thing I will be doing when I finish installing 17.2 will be to delete the Journal app as I see/have no use for it.

That was my initial thought, lol. But - I dunno... I'd like to give it a go, although I'm just not sure what I'd put it it!

My mum passed away a few months back. Maybe that'll prompt something. Especially with Christmas not far off. And I have a new grandson, too! So... maybe I'll keep the app for a bit and have a play :)

I guess I'm late to the party with the why no iPad and macOS release then? tbh, I care more about tje iPad release for this particular one. iPhone might get a daily '...' report :p
